How’d Waverly do against the Philo team that was at Court House also?

the scrimmage started out with 2 sets of 10 plays followed by 2 sets of down and distance.

WCH 1st series: Drove to inside the Waverly 10 with the first 8 plays. The 10th play was a hurried pass to the left that sailed wide.

WAV 1st series: short pass dropped, Run for a few yards, Run no gain, QB flushed out missed open WR, Run no gain, Screen pass for a few yards, Long pass to #3 inside the 10, Option to the left pitch to #1 for TD run. Plays 9 and 10 with flipped field - Long pass incomplete (was open), Pass over middle incomplete.

WCH 2nd Series: Run (not much), Run no gain, Run a couple yards, Pass incomplete, quick pitch for about 7-8, Run broke a couple tackles for about 3 yards, Pass incomplete, Run up middle for about 15, Pass nearly intercepted by # 23, Run middle for around 7-8.

WAV 2nd Series (Back up QB): Run no gain, Deep pass incomplete (decent ball), Pass incomplete, Run for 2, Outside screen for around 8, Pass incomplete (wrong route), Deep pass incomplete (WR open), Run for a couple, Pass complete sideline for around 20, Pass complete for around20.

WCH 3rd Series (Down & Distance): Run broke a couple tackles race the end zone = TD

WAV 3rd series (Down & Distance): Run for 3 or 4, 2nd down didn't see, 3rd down bad snap sack, Punt

WCH 4th series: Run no gain, Run no gain, Incomplete pass, punt

WAV 4th series: Pass - QB arm hit as throwing and intercepted.

LONG BREAK - WCH WORKED ON PAT's

I had to leave at that point

Waverly played Philo first not Court House
RB #23 Carroll was great runner, moves well
RB #2 is POWER back looked great
RB #10 Power Back looked little lost at times but is strong looking kid
RB #4 is fast but shy's away from contact and doesn't block well. Swing passes and pitches and could be dangerous
QB #9 Looked good, moved around the pocket and delivered passes. Had INT but looked like his arm was hit. He did scan field well and WR did move well when they saw him scrambling. Kelley needs to run the ball for us to be successful this year. Passing looked solid
Qb #8 JV Qb overthrew a few and skipped one pass short, missed guy across middle for another overthrow last ball should of been int.
WR #3 had a lot of dropped passes, got open well and adjusted routes when Qb was in trouble
WR #84 looked good and also adjusted his routes as needed due to pass rush. Wasn't targeted as much as I expected. also dropped passes
WR #1 looked the best, was thrown to the most. Adjusted his routes and blocked well. Looked fast but he too also dropped pass
WR #5 very lazy route runner and slow. I expected more from him. had 1 catch that should of been intercepted. Went through both db's hands
TE #11 Looked good, Strong kid who blocks well and has nice hands
D-Line Looked good but really didn't get pressure much and they don't contain the ends well.
Corners looked ok need to learn to turn around #5 and #23 step for step
Safety's #2 made a lot of tackles tough kid. #7 covered the field and looked good and doesn't shy away from a hit. Both little slow to be safety's
Oline very young and have a lot to work on. Needs to seal up the d ends the just run right by them. The Oline is working hard and really shouldn't have to play as freshman, but good for them for trying hard.
3 year starter at QB, & WR core is huge help. RB while not as good as last year, really isn't far from him. I was most impressed with his play. Just need to block and play D and throw quick hitters more. The drop passes will get better, and young Oline will improve with time. I don't believe Waverly Showed much and will get better each week
To say they will go 6-4 or 8-2 really just depends on if they can protect #9 and block for #23 to run the ball, and most of all call better plays than last year. Quick hitters and quit running up middle

Just dynamite.

What’s the thoughts heading into week 1 at Miami Trace after seeing the Tigers in the scrimmages?

This is a game that has been close the last couple years but also a game where MT has blown 20 point and 14 point leads in. MT doesn’t do that this year, Trace by 3 scores

Greygoose, you sound like Kamala Harris.
Have zero idea what you’re talking about, I mean are you quoting yourself or what, and if you’re going to bring some type of politics to a football forum go play around on the political forum.
Well we know who you're voting for. Figures

Back to topic.

Any recap available on the Portsmouth scrimmage-jamboree game? Any improvement seen in the level of play on the line of scrimmage?

Trace has mostly one way guys backers are really big and fast. Vs us they went into a 5-2 look and really came after our run game. Idk if you will see that I think you can hurt them throwing to the slots than what we could. I doubt you will have much success running on them if you struggle up front. Offense they have good backs good line and good qb. We had lot of sacks but struggled to get off the field. They ran the qb some in their option game but I would look for more of him running in the season. I think based on the guys you have back you can match up with the guys they have. They sub in the tight ends and go heavy and they are big and strong.

Thanks for the info RT.

Trace figures to be one of the five best teams in the SEOP region so Waverly will be a decided underdog.

Just seems the lack of news out of the Waverly camp might indicate the 2024 Tigers might be in a struggle to reach 5 wins and the playoffs.

Still it is good to see the high school season start. Maybe Waverly will surprise.

Waverly couldn’t run the ball against MT last year with Hurd at RB. Memory serves he was held to less than 40 yards I thought.

Projected starters don't matter at this point, those are set we're just days away from kickoff.

Starters, that is funny!!!
They probably only asked that because they think their kid should start. Just trying to stir the pot.

Waverly players and families have been asked to stay off this site. I talked about how each kid did at WCH but missed Portsmouth game. However I do agree. I didn't mean anything bad about anyone, but I do see how it looked and will not do it again.
they are all good kids
good luck to the Tigers.

Cal Preps for what it’s worth
Miami Trace 34 Waverly 21

As it has been stated before Waverly has hung around in these games and pulled off a win and also lost very close I’d see it being within 1 score

My guess would be it's not the kids they're worried about being talked about as all in all no one has really said anything negative towards the kids. There is a certain group within that organization that gets some fingers pointed there way and if the numbers I'm hearing 36 players are true it's direct correlation to the issues at hand. However, good luck to those seniors who have stuck it out and enjoy that final year.

Please do elaborate about the “36 players” what exactly are they??
