The OL and DL were much better back in the day imo. If the 79 or 89 team played this team I think both offenses would succeed. I don’t see how either team stops the other

This years team is pretty well balanced on Offense through the first 5 games.

Passing - 1264 yds
Rushing - 1138 yds

Defense yards given up

Passing - 292
Rushing - 660

I'll give this another try. Posting from a phone so forgive the mistakes. Bob had several good teams. The 1979 team if I'm not mistaken lost 2 games. The 1989 team had a few transfers. As far as Jermon goes he only lasted the first quarter against Mentor Lake Catholic. He was one of the best backs to ever play at Ironton. Now talking State Championships if my memory isn't completely gone Bob was there 9 times. We won 2 State Championship and was runner-up 7 times. This year's team ranks right up there with the best of Ironton. Terry is every bit as good a back as Jetmon and I have seen them both play. I just hate to make comparisons of teams and players of a different time. No one even mentioned the 1935 team who had a member of the National Football Hall of Fame on it. Just a very good tradition at Ironton.

Exactly what I expected from RRR, and if TTT were still with us he would have made similar comments.

We weaken the accomplishments of the teams/kids, during their era, trying to compare. Anyway, this team is special and I'll be watching as often as streamed during their state run

I guess if I wasn't so lazy I could have looked up the 79 record as I have them all. I saw all their games that year even the playoff games. I even have a recording from WIRO of the Akron StVs championship game. A friend made it for me since I was at the game.

The 1935 team was only one of eleven undefeated teams in the State that year. The Hall of Fame called them State Champions in the George McAfee program made when he entered the hall. His brother John played at Ohio State and another brother Wes played at Duke and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. Massillon claims the State Championship for that year.

I'm sorry but I've never seen so many jealous people in my life!!!! People make remarks about a team that they obviously can't stand but yet here you are talking about them again...amazing!!!

It has more to do with bantering between a few of the fans between Burg and Ironton than it does with hatred of the kids and teams.

The remarks on this thread have been extremely tame. Which post are you referring to because not much negative is being stated.

This thread doesn’t make the trash talking top 100 on this site between Ironton and Burg/other fans.

Heard burg fans went to the Ironton Hartley game instead of the burg game last week because they wanna see a team in orange and black with a pulse. Lol

Is this post meant to be serious or is it a joke like the can they “beat Ohio State” post? Simply put, no. This isn’t even Pendleton’s best Ironton team. Depending on how their playoff results, they may be in Pendleton’s top 3. Best ever? Not even close.
