Week 6 Unioto @ Piketon
Re: Week 6 Unioto @ Piketon
Unioto 21-12
Was 21-0 at halftime. Cody Braden with 3 rushing touchdowns. Buddy Wilson with an 80 yard run and 30ish yard run. Piketon fumbled and threw a pick on 4th down in the redzone. I think Unioto got a little too conservative in the 2nd half. Idk if they threw a pass after halftime

Sounds as if it was a hard earned victory for the Tanks over the Red Streaks. Regardless, a win is a win.

Up 3 scores in a downpour is a good time to get tight with the play calling, IMO
Re: Week 6 Unioto @ Piketon
Ya I agree hard to get a snap let alone throw deep but Landon did a nice job snapping the ball could of really killed them but Tyler made a nice adjustment with the inside trap and they doubled Marcell no matter where we played him now on to Adenadanicalifornia wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 6:02 pm Up 3 scores in a downpour is a good time to get tight with the play calling, IMO
Re: Week 6 Unioto @ Piketon
Hate to say it but Piketon seems to be wasting some talented teams that are coming through right now. This is a team that only graduated 6 players last year and while they weren't going to beat PV they needed to win at least 2 of these 3 against the top 3 teams to try and find a place up there. I know the ZT game might have had a bit of home cooking to it especially when an official who's affiliated with the school is the one overturning the TD call on 4th last week but they're just not there for some reason. Now they have to travel to PV and I just don't see them coming out of that one with the W. 3 wins this season against teams that are a combined 5-18 and 2 of the 5 are the teams playing each other, with Valley beating NW and NW beating Huntington. Good chance they could finish 6-4 again and miss out on the playoffs again.

I don’t see this Piketon group as particularly talented to be honest
Only 3 kids touch the ball on offense which is one less than last year. They aren’t efficient on offense and somehow have never been able to make kicks
It’s a weird setup even though I think they have a good head coach

My take on piketon, they gave the ball to the good players they have I didn’t see anyone that should have got the ball over the guys they gave it too. Played hard and physical, I would give 34 the ball more. Number 34 should return kicks and punts and play defense. Number 50 should be on defense. I think they can definitely beat pv, they are better up front

Unioto the bigger school should win this game most of the time.
I am sure the weather was troublesome to both teams with the better team being able to overcome the obstacles put in their way.

They have enough players to compete with top teams in SVC but they for sure need some new faces on the sidelines, Tyler is forced to coach all facets of the game. He was coaching up the QB all the while special teams couldn’t get punt team together and delay of game happens. This is just one example of many. Tyler has always been a fantastic coach and person but never has help. New assistant coach faces would do that program good! They loose a ton of seniors this year as well. Hope he can get some help!!!!HamPorter wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 2:24 am I don’t see this Piketon group as particularly talented to be honest

Simple fact is since that 2021 team, piketon hasnt been very good. The last couple years they have received some unjustified pre season hype by media & fans but the reality is they are just a very average D5 team. I don’t think it has anything to do with coaching. They just haven’t had the horses to compete with the Unioto’s, Pv and Zt teams here lately.

In Football, they are needed greatly. Also, the Head Coach has to trust them.

I don't know when you field a team of 60, you only lose 6 players off a team from last year I have to think there's more to it then simply saying they don't have the players. DV school fielding that many players there's got to be more than let's say 2-3 guys who should be getting the ball the most.Svcguru wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 1:45 pm Simple fact is since that 2021 team, piketon hasnt been very good. So is it coaching then? Everyone seems to place Gullion on a pedestal when it comes to SVC coaches. Personally other than the gold ball season in 21 it's not that impressive to win 5-6 games every year in a league like the svc. The bottom 3-4 in the league are usually some of the worse in the state and a semi weak non league schedule equals 5-6 wins every year.greygoose wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 11:06 pmI don't know when you field a team of 60, you only lose 6 players off a team from last year I have to think there's more to it then simply saying they don't have the players. Piketon needs to give Wilson 20+ carries a game. He was very effective and we were lucky they kept running Gullion.
Re: Week 6 Unioto @ Piketon
One has to start to wonder if I'm being completely honest, I mean there's only so many of these types of close games you lose where you say well if this doesn't happen or that doesn't happen we could've pulled it out. This is a season that seems to be an exact repeat of last year and the year before that, they're staring at 3 straight 6-4 seasons and losing to the big 3, PV, Unioto and ZT each year. Whether it's Tyler, coaches around them whatever it is it's not translating at a time where most believed it should've been.Svcguru wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 1:02 pmSo is it coaching then? just because you have a bunch of players back, doesnt mean any good ones are back.
