Re: Region 19 Outlook
Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Now it is officially done and will not be played at all.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
Really? Who will play Ironton next year that is on the schedule this year? The Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Heard similar rumor. Burg cowards it sounds like. The Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Now it is officially done and will not be played at all.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
Ironton continues with the tactics they are currently using eventually no one in the area will play them and their revenue will dwindle to practically nothing because the teams they will have to schedule won’t bring anyone and their own travel expenses will skyrocketThe Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. I'm not from Ironton and don't get into transfer stuff but whatever everyone thinks Ironton is doing isn't any different than what the catholic schools have been doing for decades.fbnut wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:44 pmIronton continues with the tactics they are currently using eventually no one in the area will play them and their revenue will dwindle to practically nothing because the teams they will have to schedule won’t bring anyone and their own travel expenses will skyrocketThe Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Not sure how they do it but can they just copy what Steubenville does?fbnut wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:44 pmIronton continues with the tactics they are currently using eventually no one in the area will play them and their revenue will dwindle to practically nothing because the teams they will have to schedule won’t bring anyone and their own travel expenses will skyrocketThe Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Have fun bringing in teams from literally all over and trying to cherry pick 7-8 home games a year

To me it looks like they are trying it this year and just wondered if it was sustainable if they got a few more teams playing at home.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:56 pmBird Dog wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:38 pmNot sure how they do it but can they just copy what Steubenville does?fbnut wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:44 pm

I don’t think Portsmouth and Valley renewed their contract but I haven’t heard if we have a new week 1 opponent yet. It would be a good time to restart this game.Oldtimer55 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 6:28 pmBurg-Ironton is week 6 next season at Burg again. Re: Region 19 Outlook
That actually sounds right. I heard the Greenup contract is up also. I think that’s a good game and would like to keep
It if possible. Unioto should be competitive and provide good points to the winner each year.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
I watched them last week and while they easily handled my Monroe Central I wasn’t impressed. They have a good line. They aren’t tall or fat.. but they are brutes. They can easily mow down all the small schools on their schedule up here. But if you average 13 yds/carry of course your play action pass will result in wideouts being open by 15 yds. But they are so one dimensional. Stop the run and the QB won’t beat you. He has the arm strength of a 13 y/o. Just stating what I saw. They can easily be beat by the top teams in R19Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:27 am Barnesville is kind of in the “unknown” part of the region. They’re 8-0 and blasted a very solid team in Fort Frye 51-16 and beat Monroe Central 44-14. If I’m not mistaken, they returned the majority of their team from last year and beat Columbus Academy last year in the playoffs.
I wouldn’t sleep on them. I’m not saying that they’ll win the region but it wouldn’t surprise me to see them in the second or third round of the playoffs. They could, if all of the chips fall right, be playing in the Regional Finals.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
What tactics . You mean using all tools available to win. Obviously whoever you root for doesn't want to be the best they can be if they don't accept transfers.fbnut wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:44 pmIronton continues with the tactics they are currently using eventually no one in the area will play them and their revenue will dwindle to practically nothing because the teams they will have to schedule won’t bring anyone and their own travel expenses will skyrocketThe Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Oh and I attended my first Ironton home game in many years against hartley who brought very few fans . But the home side was packed and people standing several deep around the fence. Winning brings Ironton all the revenue they need.

I agree. Transfers are going to happen, it’s 2024 kids can look on Facebook, twitter and see what’s going on and the schools they play and see all the college visits. If you are good and could play at the next level you will go there for the exposure. Kids will talk to each other and they will recruit with other kids. College kids jump from school to school now. Ohio started the open enrollment monster years ago. Ironton brings enough fans they will be ok. The home side has more people than most games I see on both sides. The Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:26 pmI'm not from Ironton and don't get into transfer stuff but whatever everyone thinks Ironton is doing isn't any different than what the catholic schools have been doing for decades.fbnut wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:44 pmIronton continues with the tactics they are currently using eventually no one in the area will play them and their revenue will dwindle to practically nothing because the teams they will have to schedule won’t bring anyone and their own travel expenses will skyrocketThe Regulator wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 12:36 pm Since we are talking about region 19 I had heard rumors last week that Burg was trying to change the Ironton game to week 6 next year. Re: Region 19 Outlook
Ironton will be fine they bring in more revenue than people think.
They wanted to go independent and knew that local teams willing to play them was far and few.
With the Nike sponsorship and a few other things going their way they will be just fine.
As for region 19 they should be slight favorites to win it.
But anything can happen from bad penalties to turnovers Ironton can’t afford mistakes against good teams.
As no other team can.

From what I saw last year he has a pretty decent arm. I have not been able to watch much of the Rocks this year unfortunately but I doubt he has lost any arm strength. What he doesn’t have is speed or smarts. He has struggled in the past when facing good competition like Wheelersbugh last year. This team will be the same as last year they can compete with anyone for a half then will get tired and beat in the second half.
