I watched the live stream of CV vs SCC. They went back and forth with SCC until the 4th where they pulled away. There passing game is good for what they have available. I counted 14 on the sidelines for the Rockets. I doubt depth will be an issue in this one, but it could be going down the road for them if they do win Friday night. Trimble is 3-0 vs CV all time with the last game played in 1975.
It's DVII for the most part you're not going to get deep roster unless you're a Marion Local type of school, generally speaking the DVII I have seen might have anywhere from 19-30 man rosters (30 being on the high side for most DVII in this area).
Then we're on the higher side of the roster count for the area. If I counted correctly I counted 41 total
Oh yeah for D7 you guys are definitely on the high end of things at least in this area. With the direction athlete participation is headed you’re rocking more athletes than some larger schools. Waverly is D4 and is sitting right around 40 players.

Puffy Phil is one of my all time favorite boys and there’s no way he’s losing to rotten Conotton Valley. He kicked their assesz as a player when I was in the band and he’s gonna to do it again as a coach.

There's no earthly way Conotton will match the physicality that Trimble will bring to the cornfield in Bowerston.

They don’t have to match the physicality if they throw it all over us and ovoid being hit. I hope we find a way to stop the pass. If we do, I think the cats will be in good shape. If they don’t, they be rolling out the round balls.

no earthly way? Physicality? Trimble hasn't beaten a team with a winning record all year let's not act like they've been some kind of physically imposing team that CV is going to bow down to. CV is passing it 40 plus times a game they're not some big physical team but they don't need to be, I'd be more worried with Trimble's ability to cover the pass.

CV has come a long way since their days as "Forgotten" Valley, playing on a field cut out of a corn patch, and playing all their games on Saturday afternoons, due to no lights. Funny how that oil and gas money improves the team. New turf, field, grandstands, etc. Used to be the team you wanted to schedule for your Homecoming game to get a W.

One team (program) that would disagree with this idea is River, as in 2021 and 2022.

'21 River only had one win over a team with a winning record: 5-4 Frontier. When they came to Berne, BU had two wins over teams with winning records. Berne with athletes abound, pretty legit QB for D7 ball; River physicality blew a massive hole, both sides, through Berne.

'22 River, again, only one win over a team with a winning record: Shenandoah. When they played Caldwell in the regional semi @ St. Clairsville, Caldwell had two wins over teams with winning records: Shenandoah and CV. Caldwell, a single-wing team that year, got the breaks blown off of them by a pretty physical River team.

What that means for this game, not that much. However, it is probably worth dispelling this presumption that physicality directly ties to how many teams with a winning record a team beats over the course of a year. Not all schedules are equal, after all.

Trimble's in that rare air (along with Danville) of R27 teams that habitually play the technical, disciplined level of football tied together by physicality. One that tends to carry toward the regional semi/regional final stage of football over the years. Not to say CV won't get some points on the board, they will. Can they stop Trimble's offense? They lost 50-0 to a Newcomerstown team that runs the bone.

Yeah, you're going to find that unicorn pop up here and there but when I see a team rocking wins against teams that are a combined 16-44 I tend to pump the brakes a little bit. CV did lose to Newcomerstown but they're also sitting at 9-2 and still in the playoffs and talking about week 3 of the season as well. I do think it'll be a very interesting game, as I've said in my previous post on this one it will come down to stopping Trimble's rushing attack if CV can't do that Trimble will be able to limit their touches and slow the game down and pull out the victory. If CV is able to slow down the rushing attack just a little bit I think CV can take this one convincing. Just a total contrast of styles, not sure how Trimble is on the DL but CV is on the weak side of things there but QB is a playmaker for them and helps out there. Like always going to root for my SEO teams so good luck Trimble and keep on trucking

I don't agree with the idea that it's a unicorn. Like, that's pretty much been the lay of the land over the years in this region from what I recall -- physicality generally wins be it against finesse styles or smash-mouth styles when all other things are equal.

The thing with CV's schedule that is worth some salt: some (although not all) of their opponents' victories are not the most illuminating, either. Weirton Madonna's slate of six wins is 8-and-whatever (their Ohio slate isn't very good, at least?); SCC's slate of eight wins isn't that great; their best win is Buckeye Trail and that, to be fair to CV, I'd say is a generally good win.

Agree with everything else, though.

Maybe this isn't my uncle's Conotton Valley, but from highlights I've seen online and on tv I'm giving edge to the Glouster-ites.
Agree on that oil & gas money having big effect on CVHS. There's so much ca$$$h in that school district all the sports teams have it all.
