ehhhhhhhhh
If he was bouncing around as a
head coach, that'd be one thing. Not sure how one can look at being at different places as an assistant as 'being the same thing' as when someone does it as a head coach.
It's hard JMO to pass judgment on a guy on the basis that he's been an assistant at multiple places. His day job isn't a teacher; it's supplemental services/intervention.
I'm not familiar with that name. Where has he been coaching? SVC schools?
Waverly
Eastern
Westfall (I think?)
Circleville
Chillicothe (briefly? I don’t know if he ever showed up, but I know he announced he was hired. But he then backed out).
Fairfield Christian
Grove City Christian
He spends 1-2 years at each school, then moves on. I don’t know why. I don’t know him personally, just know some people who know him. I’d think if you wanted a HC job, you’d find a current HC who is willing to mentor you for several seasons.
I know the situation generally well on the last two: he was with FCA for two years, I believe. Him and their coach have a solid relationship. It’s my understanding he applied for the GCC job when it opened, and when he didn’t get it he got linked in with the guy who
did get the job & came aboard as their DC. Coach from FCA (who is also their AD) put in a good word for him for the opening at GCC.
Obviously he didn’t get the HC job there, but at the same time it’s not like he threw a fit over getting passed over. Was given an opportunity to coach as an assistant there, he took it. I think the Circleville and Westfall stints are related to his job being in the SS/Intervention capacity, both of which he had jobs in those buildings on 1-year’s. Dunno if his job is through an ESC and those were placements. Dunno about the stints in Pike County, other than he’s a Waverly alum.
I agree with the general point that SE is going to require someone with a vested interest in SE specifically. This might not be the job for him. My earlier comment was more in the spirit of “I dunno how we can pass judgment on a guy that’s always coaching at least somewhere, despite the fact he hasn’t been the head man.” He doesn’t teach, which is give and take on how long he can last as an assistant at one place for extended period of time. In other words, it might be premature to hold his resume against him down the line.
