He took over the Athletic Directors position and has all sports gearing in the right direction.
He helped get a new score board and lights for the stadium with donations yes but he helped spearheaded it.
He has the student athletes donating time to help the community found snow shoving for the elderly and other such things.
Pay the man he deserves it.
It’s rare that I agree with Ironton folk, but I agree that Pendleton has earned a raise. He definitely has turned Ironton football around.

However, can Ironton afford to give him the raise? What problems will that create with the teacher’s union, other administrators, etc? Lots of variables to this.

Probably referring to his AD position, if I had to guess. Especially since it’s over $10k.
I would be curious to know how many high school AD’s make that much

I am pretty sure that besides Pendleton, South Point’s AD is the only other full time AD, but he’s over both high school and middle school. I don’t think Fairland’s AD is full time (I could be wrong). Rock Hill is only a supplemental and I think other schools are the same way.

Rumors i heard. He is a top choice at another school. If so. Good luck. Last time it was moeller now it's another school. Seems like a patern. And apparently this pay thing was started by some parents.

guys, ironton has to get this right. look at my facebook posts, tom osborne, waverly. to keep from repeating it all. but this guy has brought ironton football from the ashed. he bleeds orange and black. he loves ironton, and ironton loves him. he took over a floundering program that had lost a couple of games to ovc teams. what he has done from there is simply amazing. the staff he's built. the athletes there. the improvements to the stadium, lights, scoreboard, a bus that looks like the bengals ride in it. brought nike in as a sponsor, new uniforms, helmets , the whole 9 yards. he has major college coaches visiting ironton every week. he has kids playing football in colleges everywhere. furthering their academic and athletic career. shaun terry, josh johnson could end up playing on sundays. look at reid carrico. goes to ohio state, hits the transfer portal and goes to west va. and started as a hybrid linebacker. he was everywhere man. i have no doubt that he may play on sundays. look at the ironton gridiron classic, teams coming in to ironton, from all over the country. heck just a couple of years ago. cincinnati moeller traveled to ironton to play the fighting tigers. the tigers came up short that game. but it was a close, hard hitting, competitive game. moeller went on togo undefeated and won the state in d1. and if memory serves me correctly, the game with ironton was their closest game of the year to an undefeated division 1 state champion. i saw on facebook where a poster said he had been offered a 6 figure job elsewhere. i have no idea where, or if it's true. but ironton football is known nationwide, not just state wide. look at how many state championship games ironton has been to. nobody in the southern part of the state has 3 state titles, burg has 2. i really hope ironto can satisfy him with a competitive salary. and he is also the athletic director at ironton. i think both positions should have seperate salarys. the article said he was the lowest paid coach in the tri-state. but i have no idea. but he has ironton connected. clips on espn, major college coaches visiting ironton weekly. and on another note. the ironton football team went into ironton and shoveled snow everywhere for elderly people so they could get out of their homes. you add that all up. you have a man who loves ironton, and has brought them from the ashes. teams want him to play them from all over the country. the things his staff has done he assembled, is like no other. and the exposure on social media to promote athletes and the program is immeasureable. what other local schools has major college coaches from all over the country has coaches coming in and out of ironton. this is a no brainer. treat this man fairly. and pay him a competitive salary. because he loves ironton. and wants to stay. tom osborne jr. waverly, ohio

A good write up until you mentioned the Moeller game:
1. Moeller did not win the state that year
2. Moeller finished the regular season 7-3 with the Ironton game being their largest margin of victory (+18 points) during the regular season
3. Moeller played their back up QB during the Ironton game

Although Ironton gave them a good fight, Ironton was still their easiest opponent.

Also, Ironton is well known to many small schools, but fans of big schools throughout Ohio know little to nothing about Ironton, as they know little to nothing about Kirtland, Coldwater, Marion Local, etc. Most of those that follow Ohio big school football don’t give much consideration to the smaller schools no matter how good they are.

My son in law is a high school assistant football coach in rural va. Both the head coach and another assistant were both familiar with Ironton football. Not saying they compare to the big schools in oh but they are known outside the seo area.

Does Pendleton have an administrative license? If so, they make AD an administrative position and the pay is outside the realm of the teachers' union. The coaching position pay has to be negotiated by the union. They likely would want all coaching positions to get the same percentage increase. With that said, some schools have multiple supplementals for the head coach. Weight lifting coordinator. Equipment manager. Etc.

If Pendleton does not have an administrative degree, it gets more difficult to compensate him through normal/legal channels.

It’s not just Ironton, it’s all small schools. The fans and alum from the big schools don’t take the small schools seriously.

Went to an Elder game a few years ago. Was asked where I grew up. No one around me had heard of Wheelersburg or Ironton; they knew of Portsmouth only because it shows on the local news weather map. Same fans knew nothing about the MAC conference, Kirtland, etc. Now they were experts when it came to Cincy/northern Kentucky big school football. Got a history lesson on that.

Lived in the Canton area for a while as well. They were straight up rude about small town football. They didn’t even consider it real. For that matter, they didn’t consider anything outside of NEO to be serious football.

Now I did work with an older man who knew of Ironton and Portsmouth. Not because of football, but because he had been to both towns for business. He considered both scary places which was surprising given he was a white guy that grew up in west Dayton; was one of two white guys in his graduating class. Played football at Bama for Bear Bryant. Yet SEO scared him. LOL!!

say what you will. i've seen it too many times myself. i've been all over this state, and they know. in all 4 corners and in between. my personal experience talking to people, they recognize and they've heard of ironton. sorry if i got a couple of facts wrong. it's not like i'm joe eitel. i was going from my feeble old brain. and i been hit in the head a lot. in fact what i've seen is ppl. looking down on ironton because of their success with bigger city schools. they act like small school football is laughable to them. show them ironton's record, and the results of who they played. there are d1 colleges and smaller schools that are loaded with players starting from smaller schools. =========== and the entire state saw ironton topple yet another opponent for their 3rd state title. ytb.

YOU'RE TIGER BAIT wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:35 pm guys, ironton has to get this right. look at my facebook posts, tom osborne, waverly. to keep from repeating it all. but this guy has brought ironton football from the ashed. he bleeds orange and black. he loves ironton, and ironton loves him. he took over a floundering program that had lost a couple of games to ovc teams. what he has done from there is simply amazing. the staff he's built. the athletes there. the improvements to the stadium, lights, scoreboard, a bus that looks like the bengals ride in it. brought nike in as a sponsor, new uniforms, helmets , the whole 9 yards. he has major college coaches visiting ironton every week. he has kids playing football in colleges everywhere. furthering their academic and athletic career. shaun terry, josh johnson could end up playing on sundays. look at reid carrico. goes to ohio state, hits the transfer portal and goes to west va. and started as a hybrid linebacker. he was everywhere man. i have no doubt that he may play on sundays. look at the ironton gridiron classic, teams coming in to ironton, from all over the country. heck just a couple of years ago. cincinnati moeller traveled to ironton to play the fighting tigers. the tigers came up short that game. but it was a close, hard hitting, competitive game. moeller went on togo undefeated and won the state in d1. and if memory serves me correctly, the game with ironton was their closest game of the year to an undefeated division 1 state champion. i saw on facebook where a poster said he had been offered a 6 figure job elsewhere. i have no idea where, or if it's true. but ironton football is known nationwide, not just state wide. look at how many state championship games ironton has been to. nobody in the southern part of the state has 3 state titles, burg has 2. i really hope ironto can satisfy him with a competitive salary. and he is also the athletic director at ironton. i think both positions should have seperate salarys. the article said he was the lowest paid coach in the tri-state. but i have no idea. but he has ironton connected. clips on espn, major college coaches visiting ironton weekly. and on another note. the ironton football team went into ironton and shoveled snow everywhere for elderly people so they could get out of their homes. you add that all up. you have a man who loves ironton, and has brought them from the ashes. teams want him to play them from all over the country. the things his staff has done he assembled, is like no other. and the exposure on social media to promote athletes and the program is immeasureable. what other local schools has major college coaches from all over the country has coaches coming in and out of ironton. this is a no brainer. treat this man fairly. and pay him a competitive salary. because he loves ironton. and wants to stay. tom osborne jr. waverly, ohio

Respectfully disagree on not knowing Ironton. Currently live in Cincinnati and work in downtown area. A lot of folks in this area know of Ironton bc of the football in the 70s,80s, and 90s. Now are the up to date on what has happened in the past 10 years or so? Not extremely. but they do know of Ironton football. I bring it up in conversation often as a lot of the guys I have business meetings with love talking high school ball. If you have ever been around the cinci area you'd know everyones favorite question is "Where did you go to high school?". They know the Tigers.

Is he talking about going to Moeller again?

The rumor is it’s the Centerville job. If so, Ironton’s not going to be able to match the best offer the Elks could give Pendleton.

He don’t want you to leave Ironton but he deserves to be paid.
I heard Chillicothe was really wanting him to.
Sadly Ironton may lose him for the stupidest of reasons and it’s from lack of money.
