Walls had talent around him, alot more than what Roback has now. That is obvious. Put Roback under center on the team that Walls led and I guarantee he does just as good.

For real? STOP BASHING THE TEAM- HE DOES HAVE JUST AS TALENTED PLAYERS-IF ROBACKS DAD THOUGHT OTHERWISE, DON'T YOU THINK HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN HIS SON TO A BETTER SCHOOL WHERE HE COULD HAVE A STRONGER GAME IF HE THOUGHT THE SAME AS YOU!

AGAIN, STOP BASHING THE REST OF THE TEAM.

One also has to realize as JohnKnight alluded, one of the biggest problems with putting Derek Roback at quarterback is that you lose him at receiver. I wonder if it would help having a 6'4" 210 lb. kid who ran an 11.2 100 meters as a freshman at wideout along with the people we already have?

COACH OWENS (you may correct me as I am wrong)-WHY IS A COACH ON HERE IMPLYING LOSING DEREK AS A RECIEVER IS WHAT HURT THE TEAM, YOU ARE COACHING A TEAM. WHAT ABOUT MALONE AND KRITZER? YOUR TELLING ME DEREK IS THE TEAM, WHAT KIND OF EXAMPLE AND MESSAGE ARE YOU SENDING YOUR OWN TEAM!

If I misunderstood your post, I apologize in advanced. If I am wrong, could you explain to me what you meant.

The times that I saw Waverly last year, Roback is the team. When he got stopped, they got stopped. Sorry if you dont like hearing that, but it is the truth. Maybe this year they will have more weapons to spread the ball to. Last year they didnt.

See there you Waverly people go again. I didnt see very many people say anything negative about Roback, although.....alot of people, including ME, said that it would be tough to get some good looks at big time schools when the high school program is not very competitive in the 4th largest division in the state. If you look back, most people, if not all, said that he was a very talented athlete. You guys jumped on everyone that had any criticism about Waverly not being competitive in the SOC II with a D1 recruit.

Good luck in college to him. Any D1 offer is a big deal, regardless of what school it is.

But I still think he really struggles against Burg, West, Valley and Minford in the upcoming season ;-)

DI Qb's, athletes, whatever you want to call them, win more than 4 games. Period.

Bleeding Red,
This quote makes you sound like Roback isn't a D1 football player. Are you saying that he's not a D1 athlete because Waverly only won 4 games last season? You've said some nice things about Roback, but you've also made some comments about him not being good enough to play division 1 football. It's a fact that he's already received official offers from OU, Bowling Green, Ball State, and Toledo. I've heard Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Miami of Ohio are also going to make visits soon. With that being said, why do people still think he's not good enough to play division 1 football?

Indiana is now on the list. They want him to go to camp and see how he does, if he does well, then they will offer. Same with Colorado. They are both looking at him hard. Good luck to Derek and hope they offer! :-D

I talked with Derek at track meets during his freshman year. I do not know him except for that, but I can tell you from the few times I talked to him he has the skills, heart and desire to play D-1, a fine young man who is nothing but class. The scouts on here can not see that from 10 rows back at the 20 yard line Good luck Derek where ever you go from Wheelersburg :)

Ace- I have only said good things about Roback.

Good luck to him, its good to see any kid from Southern Ohio go on to play at the next level.

When I saw him play last year he was the entire team for Waverly. It will be another long season if that is the case.

It will be scary if we get to see him at the next level with a good line and solid skill players around him.

That is all I am saying. Lets see what happens in August!

Bleeding Red,
So is Roback good enough to play division 1 football? If you've said ONLY good things about Roback, then what did that comment mean, and I quote, "DI Qb's, athletes, whatever you want to call them, win more than 4 games. Period."

Well I guess he is Ace if he is getting the offers huh? He will be the first D1 prospect from a losing team in the SOC II that I can think of, thats for sure. Maybe he will win 5 games this year, which is more than 4!!!!

You are getting kinda touchy arent you?

I'm not getting touchy. I'm stating the facts. Make up your mind about Roback. College coaches have already determined that he's worthy enough to play divsion 1 football.

Well then I guess that is all that matters. I was a college athlete, not in football, and I am not a recruiter.

But I still think that if Waverly cant get 3-4 other kids to step up, they are in for a loooong season again this year.

I will grant him this- he is a much better overall athlete than Walls....in my opinion. And Walls is playing D1.

Walls had a much better supporting staff, thus he had a much better record at Waverly. That is my point about records and stats.

fbone:

Does my comment really need clarification? Derek is a D1 athlete. He was an all state receiver in '07. As a sophomore he had 47 catches for 833 yards and eleven TDs. He had 1,029 all-purpose yards as a sophomore on a 10-2 team. My comment has NOTHING to do with anyone else on our team. What team do you know of in this area that wouldn't be better with Derek lining up at wideout for them? Did you notice the end of my post? I wrote, "along with the people we already have?" How can you read that to be some kind of negative comment about the rest of the team?
