great first touch down drive by falcons in the second half. It only took two pass interference and a personal foul call and a partridge in a pear tree to get them there. more penalty yards on that drive than offensive yardage. no offensive production at all by the falcons. two losses and still have valley on the schedule.

a lot of talk earlier about offense. just had to make a point to talk about the obvious. always just like to remind those of posts/predictions that are made early.

According to the radio the Falcons had 67 yards rushing and the Pirates had 68 yards in penalties so the Refs were the Falcons best offensive weapon. Minford only managed 91 total yards for the game. Looks like that maligned Burg defense is pretty good after all.

Is this really a rivalry? Doesn't Wheelersburg hold like a 40 game lead in this series? Typically, rivalries are close in the win-loss column and with close games.

I heard tonight the Ironton is dropping the Burg. Any truth to that?

Congrats to the Pirates. Burg, IMO, just had too much skill and speed for Minford this year. The penalties by the Pirates was a huge problem tonight.

I heard that too on the penalties, 8 penalties for 68 yards? Now if remember correctly, didn't the Burg have 4-15 yard penalties, which adds up to 60 yards, so therefore they only had 8 yards in penalties on the other 4????????????

Burg dominated even on a sloppy field. No. 53 was a beast tonight

Minford had one run for 60 yards so they rushed for more than 90. If Minford doesn't get a passing game that is reliable with pass protection they are going to keep getting what they got tonight? The old saying is don't fix it if its not broken, well guess what, something needs fixed. 85% run and15% passing is not going to get you tied up when you are behind 21-0.

How many negative yardage plays did they have?

The game is on Time Warner now. At the half Burg had 195 yards and 10 first downs, while the Falcons had 23 yards (all rushing) and 1 first down.....per Time Warner

That tells me that the QB had -23 yards rushing. The way every Minford poster was saying that they have to run it right down burgs throat all night and that is what the coaches did. Now they have to start throwing the ball. Lose lose for the coaches.

@Marshallman your exactly right. The Falcons weak schedule gave fake promise of the power run game of the Falcons. Its has been shut down by two SOC 2 teams filling the box and blitzing the gaps hitting our backs or pressuring the QB before anything can develop. The Falcons have not passed enough in the first 6 games to do anything. Then you go to West an throw 20 or more times and question the drops. Then you play Northwest and throw probably 6 times and think you had your run game working when you should have worked out Joyce and Gambill as WR's also. So now Burg comes in shuts your run game down goes up 21 and were still trying to run in the third then finally we spread it out go shot gun get he QB involved with keeping it and we start moving the ball. Hopefully we realized spread the offense with the QB way more involved running and throwing just not on third an long and put Justice back there with him an we might be surprised that we win out.

It helps when your quarterback doesn't run 20 yards straight back instead of stepping up in the pocket and throw what the defense gives you like the hitches n the outs. He had plenty of time to hit the flats which were wide open that's what makes miller so good he takes what the defense gives him.
