Valley has a lot of similarities to recent years in style of play. One of the big differences would be the things asked of the quarterback. In 2010 and 2011, Yates made a tremendous amount of plays with his arm and his feet. In 2010 he was the primary weapon for the offense. In 2011, Keller exploded with a monster season from the TB position and that took a lot of the focus off Yates, which made for an extremely explosive offense that had a ton of success and essentially out scored opponents on a weekly basis. Even in the Regional Finals loss to Wynford, it was a shoot-out with the offense going berserk. Unfortunately, the defense in 2011 wasn't as stout as last year, and this year in my opinion. Last year, the defense was MUCH stronger, and the offense was a grind-it-out type with several backs and a quarterback (Will Howard) built like a fullback who had very good intangibles. Howard and Nate Arnett emerged from what started as "replacements" to Yates and Keller, to become the two focal points of the offense. The passing game wasn't nearly as potent, but it definitely came along as the season progressed and was capable.
