Re: Rival: Nelsonville-York @ Trimble Sat Aug 31st (wk1)
With NY being down, I'm wondering what preparation Trimble will have for the playoffs given that NY and Wahama have been the only playoff teams on the schedule for Trimble for the past few years. Is Wahama good this year? The rest of the schedule will be a definite snooze fest with Trimble winning every week by large amounts.
Re: Rival: Nelsonville-York @ Trimble Sat Aug 31st (wk1)
What role a teams regular season schedule plays in playoff prep is what they make of it. Trimble had the same schedule last year, and did ok in the playoffs. NY has had tough schedules over the past 10 years, and some years they have had weaker schedules. Neither has helped them to win a playoff game however. Wahama played a similar schedule to Trimble last year and won a state championship. Other years they played a tougher schedule and lost early in the playoffs, as has Trimble. So again, the schedule matters less than the process you use to prepare your team.NYBuckeye96 wrote:With NY being down, I'm wondering what preparation Trimble will have for the playoffs given that NY and Wahama have been the only playoff teams on the schedule for Trimble for the past few years. It's really honestly has NOTHING to with who Trimble plays leading up to the playoffs cause they play the same old WEAK schedule EVERY YEAR with the exception of one or two games, it all really boils down to if Phil Farries and HIS COACHING STAFF not to CHOKE IT UP like they did last year and the years before to make school history because history shows that's what ALWAYS HAPPENS

Choke? They almost beat Newark Catholic, who made it to the state championship game!Sum_it_up89 wrote:It's really honestly has NOTHING to with who Trimble plays leading up to the playoffs cause they play the same old WEAK schedule EVERY YEAR with the exception of one or two games, it all really boils down to if Phil Farries and HIS COACHING STAFF not to CHOKE IT UP like they did last year and the years before to make school history because history shows that's what ALWAYS HAPPENS
They did one hell of a job last season ... the players, the coaches - everyone involved with the 'Cats.

It can actually work for a team ... they should be healthier and more rested than some of the teams heading into the playoffs ... and yes, Wahama is going to be really good this year.NYBuckeye96 wrote:With NY being down, I'm wondering what preparation Trimble will have for the playoffs given that NY and Wahama have been the only playoff teams on the schedule for Trimble for the past few years. Against the Green Wave defense that was the best Trimble had seen all year - what else are you going to do? Hand it to Bryce Smathers, who weighed in at about 150 lbs last year with a cast on his arm? Coach Faires put the ball in his best players hands - and when you get down inside the 1-yard line and space becomes cramped - there isn't a lot of options. I'm sure he thought his big offense line could have surged forward enough for Standley to score, but NC d-line did an outstanding job of penetrating and plugging gaps not allowing Konner to cross the goal line ... its not the first time I have seen a team come up short on the 1-yard line - it happens about 20 times a season in high school, college and pro ... and every time there are fans complaining about the play call ... if Faires decided to throw it - and it fell incomplete - he would have 'choked' and some would say he should have ran it ... if he runs and doesn't make it - he choked - and some would have said he should have passed it!Sum_it_up89 wrote:1st and goal on the 4 maybe 5 and 4 quarter back sneaks.... Actual fact is you got your ass beat. We werent even on the 1yrd line konner gained 8 yrds on 2nd down and we couldnt get the first from the 8yrd line. You prob never played football or you would pay more attention on what you did last year or better yet get your facts straight on what happened in our playoff game. For your information i have played sense i was in 3rd grade I prob forgot about more football than you will ever learn numbnuts. So keep thinking your going to win and your so much smarter because you cant even remember what happend last year. Enough said. We will see saturdaySum_it_up89 wrote:Brown9899........Im gonna go on the record and say u NEVER even played football by the way u KNOW NOTHING and ALL THe BULLCRAP u talk!!
