It’s a good school but I seriously doubt pre first has anything to do with it.
It definitely makes Wheelersburgs athletes older when playing sports.
It would if they play sports down the road. But it’s only one pre first class.
Exactly the kids who attend first grade twice will have a big advantage in sports and academics.

So a 19 year old senior doesn’t have an advantage over an 18 year old senior ?

Or a 16 year old freshman over a normal 15 year old kid ?

Unless they are average and unathletic. The pre first program is for multiple reasons. Saying it’s for athletes to be held back is a stretch. Now parents may make that attempt to dominate youth sports but not buying it at high school level.

A 19 year old vs 17 and and 18 year olds make a difference. I don't care what anyone says. And an extra year of schooling is no doubt, going to create more educated kids. I'm not saying shame on parents that use it, if its there then hell why not. Because it is beneficial to the kids both athletically and academically. Its a running joke because Burg is the only school that I am aware of that offers it in this part of the state.

Northwest has a kid that is going to be a senior and is still 16. Turns 17 the end of the month. The Lintz kid played his freshman football season and half of basketball season as a 14 year old.

It's not like kids walk around with their birthdate wrote on their back. But people will usually know. I can name lots of stand out athletes over the years at Burg that are turning 19 before they graduated. I know one of them that I played baseball with back in the day, that graduated a year after me and had participated in the pre-1st. He joked about not needing it academically but used it for sports. Weird seeing someone you know that graduated a year after you, drinking a beer at buffalo wild wings before you.

Right! I remember I wasn't any good at sports but then I went to pre-first, and was instantly a better athlete. It is crazy how much going to pre-first increases a person's athleticism!

As if needed explanation, it doesnt help if you are not an athlete. And it doesnt matter if they gain an extra year when they are six or sixteen, its still an extra year? Not hard to understand the advantage. I'm not blaming it for the entire reason to Burg's success, but you are blinded idiots if you don't think it is an advantage.
