Overhauling it like was done was one of the best things to ever happen for Minford Football.

Ashley resigning was also a huge positive for the minford program.

Brisker got a few parents/community to buy into it and then the parents took off with the program. I believe brisker also got the weightlifting program going in his 2nd year along with berry, mcroberts running the 6am lifting

This I agree. The players are playing among themselves and in the program. There is no all-star teams, championship trophies or super bowls when the season is over. The kids learn the fundamentals of football, they all play and play within the system. They all get a trophy when the season is over. When they get to 7th grade, they all come together to make one team.
Some will say, well, you don't play outside competition that is better, see other players and won't get better. Minford says, we will see you in the 7th grade and beyond to determine that fact.

Dr. Lou ,Bob Ashley ran a clean program at Minford maybe he didn't win as much as current coach but never had programs name in paper for player eligibility or vandalism to school. Are both the brothers who went to Minford last year both still in school there? Winning isn't everything if you can't look in mirror at end of the day and be proud of players you put on the field.

WOW! It was the Pee-Wee system that was responsible for all of Minford's failures! I guess five coaching changes,at the high school, including Mark Finnick had nothing to do with it. A year without a field was a big plus, and despite all of those negatives the kids still put a couple gold footballs in the school, including the only outright, and that's twice as many as we had. We should have done a better job, there's no question about it, we had enough talent to win four or five championships. We lost kids to Notre Dame, Burg, Valley, East and Portsmouth. I think alot of the success goes to coach Daniels and his staff. A new stadium is a big help. So far we have won some games, but we have finished third twice. Not first, but third. We are 2-5 against the W's. The eight grade didn't win a game, and there were only ten six graders and one of them has transfered to the Burg. Either system can work, Burg uses this system and West travels. There are a lot of steps between Pee Wee and high school. :122249

Bob didn't coach Aaron Williams or he would have had names in the paper. You can't blame the coaching staff for that. Yes, one is still in school and will graduate. The other can't be helped as many schools have tried.

You cant tell me that the coaching did not know anything or at least had some questions about those kids last year. I know better, if they didnt then your telling me that a good coach with a good growing program does not know his kids, I dont think so. I believe that Coach Daniels knows all of his kids and whats goes on with them. Remember kids cant keep secrets. Im glad that junk is over, it took so much focus from a good team last year. I'm not trying to be negative, but it is what it is. Good luck to the falcons in the 2009 season

This came directly from the OHSAA: Minford's coach and AD self reported the situation and the kids moved into the district after the season had started. Sure they had to sit out 3 games but Minford didn't have to forfeit their first game due to the self reporting to the OHSAA brass.

I guess it's one thing to report a potential problem, than it is getting caught doing something questionable. I believe Daniels and Co., are on the up and up, if not the program would have had to forfeit the game 1, against River Valley, and would have been in trouble with the OHSAA and not made the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

If a kid shows up and wants to play, does each coach need to drive out and conduct a home visit to make sure if their story is correct? Minford did this and found things weren't going as the family had planned due to things out of their control, so the program did the right thing and reported it to the state.

Also, Joel Williams is the strongest kid in his 195lbs weight class in the state of Ohio, and brought home four 1st place trophies to Minford at the state meet in Kenton, Ohio last week. He already has committed to the US Marines and will graduate as a Minford Falcon, so I'm pretty sure the community and school are proud to have him around.

As far as the pee-wee system..... it's a good thing to get as many involved as you can at those ages. Who really cares about a pee-wee suberbowl. It's the SOC championships that matter, and those will come as long as Minford is getting 60-70 kids out per year.

Don't beat around the bush, just say what's on your mind. I can tell you for a fact that coach Daniels did not have contact with these kids. This family still lives on Swauger, and all of the kids except Aaron are enrolled at Minford.

Vlad, Why throw the superbowl up? I haven't coached a down in nine years. I hope we win it all this year as I do every year. I want every Minford kid to win at whatever sport their playing at any level. That's the difference between me and some of the others.

coachb I didn't say that the old system caused the failures of the past. I said that the new system has worked better for us now and should continue to in the future. Of course other things contributed to sub par years during those times when we shoulda coulda woulda. With the staff and entire system in place now I think Minford is making steps to win championships at a consistent pace, not just once every while.

Minford has only one thing left to work on and that is eliminating the transfers to other schools when the kid gets to the 7th grade. Do you want to know why the 8th grade didn't win a game? Try 5 of the best players in that grade transferring after their 6th grade. Why? who knows. but I think stability in the program will keep kids at Minford now and of course winning always helps.

Your telling me, that we are going to win championships at a consistent pace and the eighth grade lost it's best five players and the sixth grade class has nine kids. The figures are Obama like, they just don't add up. Having said that, this is our best chance to win it, after that, I don't think we can win a championship until the fifth grade class is juniors or seniors, if they stay together.
