No reason to try to discredit N-Y's win. 0-5 or not, they are still 3 Divvisions smaller. Logan should have at least been able to keep it close. Its a big win for N-Y and a bad loss for the Chiefs. Give credit where credit is due. Good luck the rest of the way Buckeyes!qualified101 wrote:grats, u beat an 0-5 team. lol. good luck with the rest of your season and may it be injury free.

Classy post. I started to reply earlier but wanted to see what the responses would be. Logan will right the ship. Too proud a football school to let this program go.
Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
I will say this as a Nelsonville-York guy obviously, I thought this would be a close game. However it was the same result for Nelsonville-York
as the past 4 weeks not much of a game to watch. I was really looking forward to a great game however in the first quater it was 19-0 and over. Logan is terrible. They did nothing diffferent. I was very sad to see this. Glad to see N-Y win but wanted to see us challenged. I reallly feel sorry for some of my Logan buddies it will be a long year.

I believe that the last time these two classes met it was in the 6th grade. NY won 72 to 6.
Every public school will have peaks and valleys as far as talent goes. The private schools should never have a problem. It is the length of time spent in these peaks or valleys that define a program. Can't fault the coaches or players if the talent isn't always there,, as it is what it is.
Congratulations Buckeyes on another great win..... NOW IT'S TIME TO FOCUS ON WELLSTON
Good luck to the Chiefs you can still make some noise........

When you are up it is good to play div i schools but when the program is down it hurts the boys to start out getting beat on.It sort of takes the heart out of you. I think this is what has happened to Logan the last couple of years.

For once, I totally agree with your opinion. I hope Logan gets their program back in order soon, even as a Bulldog fan that grew up in a era where hatred of purple was instilled in me at a young age, I want their program to do well for a school system and community that deserve better. I'm not knocking on the kids here, I'm sure the team and coaches are doing their best and working hard but sometimes it just doesn't work.noreply66 wrote:When you are up it is good to play div i schools but when the program is down it hurts the boys to start out getting beat on.It sort of takes the heart out of you. N-Y appears to be the real deal this year, I had doubts early on that they could run the table with their schedule this year but it looks like they may really have the ability to do it.
Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
Good Job Nelsonville-York! It is sad the buckeyes will not get any 2nd level points form a what will be an 0-10 Logan team. again hope the buckeyes go a long way!
To all you so call experts. I called for a blow out and it happened! Now let me tell you all our total program is broken and this is sad. After the season it is time for a complete change! From how the youth program teaches football all the way up to the high school level.

smaller. bigger. doesnt matter. this game proved that bigger isnt better as logan has in the past by beating many D1 schools. I dont like it when people play the division card. all that matters is how many kids go out for the team. more importantly, both teams cant have more than 11 players on the field at a time. this post was directed at nybuxdad who had to play the division card.

Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
It was good to see the Bucks pull it out last night. It would have been much better if it was against the old Logan team, but a win is a win. The Chiefs played inspired ball in the third quarter and momentarily caused a little concern.
The fake punt was something I thought was obvious even before they did it. I know all of us experts in the bleachers are irritating, but did they not anticipate it or did they just fail to defend it? My thinking was that Logan was down by 4 scores partway through the third quarter and were at mid-field. With how we moved the ball in the first half, they could have only expected to have 4, maybe 5, possessions for the rest of the game. Even if they held us scoreless for the remainder of the game, they would have to score on almost every possession to win. I just thought it was almost a textbook case of when you would fake a punt. They got it down to the goal line and later punched it in.
Don't get me wrong, I think the D did a good job of holding them to 6 points in the game, but I just thought we had a little letdown in the third quarter. Now on to the TVC. Let's put more paint on the wall men!

Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
I absolutely had to play the Division card considering that two of my good friends from Logan has talked trash to me for the last week that there is NO possible way our little D5 School could even compete with the BIG D2 Logan team and that we didn’t even belong on the same field as them. Granted he didn’t say it on here mostly on my facebook but I posted it on both to make sure he saw that our little D5 spanked the big D2 and I’ll give it to Logan they have started out 0-5 cause they have played darn good teams. As for Logan I hope they win out the rest of the season that only helps the Buckeyes and they are still a local team that is only a few miles up the road, I hope all our local teams Athens, Alex, Wellston, Meigs Trimble Fed Hock and Vinton County all win all their games except for when they play the Buckeyes.
Good luck the rest of the season and may all teams make it injury free!!!!!!

the division you play in determines the size of the talent pool never underestimate itNYBucksDad wrote:I absolutely had to play the Division card considering that two of my good friends from Logan has talked trash to me for the last week that there is NO possible way our little D5 School could even compete with the BIG D2 Logan team and that we didn’t even belong on the same field as them. Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
Great job Buckeyes!!!! The 42 points scored is the most points ever scored by any Nelsonville team - Greyhounds or Buckeyes - against Logan in the 83 games these two have played. The margin of victory, 42-6 or +36, is second only to the 40-0 or +40 win by the 1981 state championship Buckeye team. The Buckeyes picked up their 7th win over Logan which tops the 6 wins the old Greyhounds had over the Chieftans.

I know the whole Division discussion has been discussed extensively, but it is exceptionally relavent. Big schools who play smaller schools have a vested interest in ignoring or diminishing the importance of divisions/school size. One division up or down may not make a significant difference, but 2 or 3 or more? C'mon, man. The relavent talent pool is definitely a consideration. I think if you were a D5 school playing D2 and D3 schools, you might have a different opinion.

Re: Week 5: Logan (0-4) @ Nelsonville-York (4-0)
Wow never thought it would get out of hand like that even though I figured NY would win, but after I heard the Logan QB might not be playing I started to get little worried,,,even if he played the whole night wouldn't have mattered much because they would have never scored enough to keep up with their defense.. the defense's lack of overall speed was glaring last night and has been a problem all year, that being said NY has a fine team and should go 10-0 this year,NY has a really nice facility and one of the very few around to have the playclocks at each end,, nice touch,,, and nice fireworks display afterward.........

In recent meetings, this series has been much more competitive. In the last 12 games, Logan leads the series 7-5.
