Huge difference between the PA announcer playing music and the band playing. I'd also think as an official you'd have a hard time assessing a penalty to the home team because of the announcer. The official could stop the game and ask game administration to remove that person before continuing but I don't think you can assess a penalty for an unruly announcer.

As officials, we are told that the school and OHSAA should be notified, by special report, of any game administration issues. This would include security issues as well as the band playing during the game or a problem announcer. It clearly says in the officials manual as well as the AD manual that these are game management issues but there is no penalty attached.

WHILE I'M NOT WHINING ABOUT THE BAND, I GLAD AN ACTUAL OFFICIAL CLEARED THAT UP. BUT THAT WAS VERY FUNNY, THAT WHEN THE JACKSON QB, COULD NOT HEAR HISSELF THINK BECAUSE OF CROWD NOISE, HE BLAMED IT ON OUR BAND. THOUGH JACKSON'S BAND, WAILED AWAY THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE ON OFFENSE WITH NOTHING SAID. I THINK IT'S DOWNRIGHT FUNNY.

Here is for a fact what happened about the band(s). I know, because I was in the press box.

Jackson's assistant coach in the press box stepped out and told Jackson's PA announcer that Jackson's band needed to stop playing when Ironton was on offense or else Jackson would be penalized. The PA announcer then made the general announcement about bands playing when the opposing team was on offense.

That is what happened. Anything else that is posted to the contrary is completely false. Just letting you know.

so are you trying to say , at that point jackson's band never continued to play as we were on offense the entire rest of the game. because, and i can't even believe this is conversation. but jackson's band played every time we were on offense after that. that is the truth, i don't care if you were under the 50 yard line. never thought i'd ever see a discussion on this. i thought thats what band's did. but we stopped when we were asked , when jackson was on offense, but jackson played on. lord, whats the world coming to. lol

You're Tiger Bait.....No, I'm not trying to say anything. You can't comprehend apparently.

You asked about the band announcement. I'm telling you what transpired in the press box in regards to that. That's all.

okay buddy whatever you say, maybe because you were stuffed in the pressbox , you could not hear the jackson band wailing away, after the announcement, when ironton had the ball, i have an idea, if you think i'm incoherent, ask anybody that was at the game. again, thats what i thought bands were suppossed to do. but as i say whats good for the goose, is good for the gander.

no thanks , i'd rather hear the bands , and watch high school football, again frankly i cannot believe this is still being discussed. the announcement was directed toward the ironton band , as they were the ones playing in a battle of the bands , so to speak, while jackson was on offense. the fact is we quit playing while you were on offense. but jackson's band wailed away the rest of the night , while ironton was on offense. so an announcement should have been directed towards jackson's band to do the same, or throw both bands out, or say to heck with it , and let them do as they always do, and play da hell out of their instruments and have a good time. thats like saying i can't write a bad check, but it's okay that you do. and won't be dealt with for it, but i will. i'm trying to break this down, so you can understand this. none the less , this is a foolish discussion, and definately a first on here. since i came aboard in 2005. and this is my final transmission on it. you are delusional if you are saying ironton's band quit doing it, and claiming that jackson's did as well. good day.

You're Tiger Bait.....Perhaps your username should be changed to I'm Sharp as a Bowling Ball.

You are right, this is a foolish discussion — but you are and were a fool for bringing it up after I told you exactly what happened.

But since I'm a nice guy, I'll explain it one last time to you so you can comprehend. Or at least try.

The announcement about the bands benefited Ironton actually.

Jackson's assistant coach stepped out of the coach's box in the press box to tell the PA announcer make the general announcement about the bands playing during when the opposing team was on offense. Jackson was going to be penalized if its band continued playing while Ironton was offense.

So there ya go. By the way will you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee clean up your writing skills. Sentence fragments and use of punctuation and capital letters BEE.

Again, I invite you to come up to the press box any time when you visit beautiful Alumni Stadium and we can continue this conversation then and there.

But Jackson's band DID continue to play while Ironton was on offense; not once but several times. And Jackson was not penalized.
