Back when I was playing Burg was a real joke. We thought of them like a south point or rock hill. They have came a long way since those days and Ironton isnt what they used to be either. I believe a lot comes with the mind set. Kids who believe in themselves can do just about anything. Back then you could put Ironton up against anyone and they would have a chance. Burg back then was like everyone else, they feared Ironton. Now that isn't the case. I don't believe either team fears either, however there isn't one team walking into the game with a chip on their shoulder asking the other to please knock it off. Ironton back then would have been ashamed to have lost to Burg. Truth!! Not now by any stretch.

Burg didn't start a series until 1994 with ironton. As far as calling burg a joke, insane, burg has had one losing season since 1964, with one state championship and numerous playoff wins. Should burg fans think of ironton as a joke since they haven't been as successful in the past few seasons.

At one time I remember the series being 17-3 in favor of the Tigers. So yes being up 14 games when you have only played 20 was very lopsided. The times have changed though as I said. Neither of these two teams fear each other now. It seems as if it is usually always a great game. Every now and the. One of the two teams have a great year or a down year. Ironton has been on the bad side for a number of years now. I figure things will change this year as long as this year's team can get started. They have weapons, hopefully they use them. :12222

neither of these 2 schools is a joke, anyone should have the upmost respect for both!!!!!!!! ironton is loaded with weapons they will have the best RB 'S AND WR'S on the field in this game lets just hope they have best TEAM.

Due to the ignorance of CG I didn't make it long. Lol. I do recall Burke being the best WR on the field last year. I think he actually popped the bubble right before the half when it was somewhat of a game. Yeah, he's back. Yeah, we have a QB that will get the ball to him. Ironton may have the best RB. That's it. And there's still one more thing you Itown guys are forgetting, Burg makes changes at the line, you can't defend that with a bunch of high school kids. They will always take the bate. Just like on 4th and 1.

Same old song and dance. But here's a new one for you. Ironton misses the playoffs this year. Weak conference. Beat by Burg. And you all can go beat up on those KY teams all you want. That don't mean a thing.

You know what's funny is this should be a very good game between to loaded teams.
I would assume the Ironton players who truly count in this game would not over look a Burg team that has had their number the past few years.
That being said if Ironton does beat Burg whether by a point or a dozen.....
What will be Burgs excuse for losing ?
The Ref's Burg over looked Ironton or my Fav.
Ironton took Burgs Momentum with all the fake cramps.
I want Ironton to win period but Burg is a well coached team and talented but more important is I wish to see both teams do well and both come out injury free.
If Ironton is to break the streak of losing to Burg this is the year to do so.

Maniac is right, although in coming years a lot changes with age. I believe burg thinks because they have had some good jr high teams that will lead to high school teams. That is not always the case. Most of what I have seen with those burg teams has been long passes to kids who were much taller than the kids on the other teams. As bad as it hurts me to say this, as long as west has good coaching, West is going to be the team to beat from scioto county. Ironton could be great over the next three to four years or aweful. They have never had their full squad play together since the 5th grade and that year they had two teams come in first and second place in grade school and did it two years in a row. With a few new additions to that class from neighboring schools who were top athletes from their programs it could make for some great teams at Ironton. There are five of the best freshman not playing football this season, I know three of the best juniors and at least one sophomore who all started when they played and were all no doubter starters. That is a lot of ifs. But, when you ask why Ironton has gotten away from competing for championships, that could possibly be a part of it. Of the three juniors, probably one would have started varsity this year. Looking at next year all of them will if they work hard and the sophomore would and of the freshmen, next year at least two of them would start no doubt. What hurts a lot of the time is not having good athletes on the practice squad. Can't get game ready. If your second and third stringers are good, that's what make the first string good. Missing out on having one good player can be the difference.

Ironton may get beat but not embarrassed.
If Ironton gets beat then they got beat by a better team that may have been better prepared and wanted it more than a very talented Ironton team.
I don't want an excuse I want a win but if not then I will give Burg the honors due, to winning at the tank.
I just want to see in this case hear since I am in Albuquerque and have to listen to it VIA internet radio a good solid game from both teams.
And hope both teams come out injury free.
I do expect a hard fought Ironton win this year will they we shall find out soon enough.
But I will make no excuses for Ironton if they lose.
