WEEK 9 ~ IRONTON @ NELSONVILLE-YORK
Re: WEEK 9 ~ IRONTON @ NELSONVILLE-YORK
Not to change the subject...but it looked like to me that the first fumble of the game was well after we were in the endzone...
Other than that..I can't say enough about #26...he is one heck of a runner and hate to say it...but it looked much like a one man team on offense..I don't know how many times he was surrounded and somehow he found a way to scramble out of it and go for long yardage.
I really thought that both teams played great ball tonight.
As I said before the game...if ironton used what they had...it could be a long night for N Y....We pulled out what we had with Jonathan throwing the ball great tonight and our recieving crew doing a fine job catching the ball...only one drop that I can remember that we should have had.
That opened up the run from that point on and the rest is history.
Had we not been duped on the reverse pass from the beginning and the fumble not happened in the endzone I think it would have been much uglier of a score...but...NY played a great game and has no reason to hang their heads...Ironton finally used the passing game that has been there all season...and NY happened to be the team that got it used against them 1st....
Other than the reverse pass...I was very impressed with Ironton's pass D tonight...they actually knocked the ball down for the most part...there were some completions...and the late one with 15 seconds left on the clock right before the two time outs that I still can't understand...lol
Can't say that NY was as bad as I expected...they are a fine ball team and could win a couple of games in the playoffs...never know...they looked real good the first half....Go Tigers!!!!!!

What an exciting game this turned out to be! Two weeks from now when both of these teams are in the playoffs, they will both be thankful for playing each other as I feel like this game showed areas each team needs to improve upon when playing a playoff caliber team. More importantly, this game shows that each team is READY to play playoff caliber teams.
Good luck to Ironton the rest of the way! I expect big things from the Fighting Tigers in the playoffs.
And to the Buckeyes.....you played a great game!!! You have shown all of southeastern Ohio that you are READY to make some NOISE in the playoffs!!!!

People from the crowd with no conection with the Bash or athletic department draw the winning tickets from a drum while blindfolded.
This fundraiser IS TOTALY LEGIT.

Sounds like this was a great game. I knew my Tigers would pull it out though. Good Luck to the Buckeyes in the playoffs.

Great job Tigers.
With the way NY played, just goes to show how tough region 19 is going to be this year. Right now, it is anybodies region to win. Looks like alot of good matchups coming up in the first 3 weeks of the playoffs.

One of the best games I've seen since the Logan/Tri-Valley game last year.
Good job and good luck to both!

Re: WEEK 9 ~ IRONTON @ NELSONVILLE-YORK
I keep seeing the post about NY shooting themselves in the foot...heck Ironton shot themselves in the foot from the start of the game by fumbling in the endzone...and I promise if there was live ammo in the guns...they all would have hurtin feet...but that is all part of the game...heck...one of the main reason's why Ironton is sooooo good year in and year out isn't just talent...it has been discipline...Ironton has improved alot from the team two years ago...and a little from last season...but still have a ways to go to get disciplined...but they are getting better each week...Ironton almost always wins the battle of penalties...on the line...DISCIPLINE...HUGE PART OF THE GAME!!!!!!

Re: WEEK 9 ~ IRONTON @ NELSONVILLE-YORK
Yes, the Buckeyes shot themselves in the feet. But Ironton was handling the ammunition all night. The two penalties on 4/2 then 4/7 pretty much changed the dynamic of the game completely. Ironton was scoring at will and the Buckeyes were holding their own until that play.
I think you will see that NY had more sustained drives up to that point while Ironton was getting down the field in a hurry. That is not a slam on Ironton, their line was massive and was difficult to contain. An earlier post said the Tigers were practicing passing, I really cant imagine one of the most storied programs in the state and a respected coach like Lutz "practicing" when a home playoff game is the prize for winning.
Congrats Tigers on the win. The SEOAL is a tough league and we in Buckeyeland were happy to hang with you. Now, next year is a different story. lol
Go Buckeyes!!!
