rachelcreek: Thanks, Ironton, for a playoff-inclusive season. Good luck to New Lexington. See everybody next year at Tanks Memorial Stadium!

Amen, a good sign of things to come. For Ironton to not have only made their 26th Playoff Appearance (3rd most in the state!) but to earn a home playoff game and advance to the semi-finals is a very positive step to see this program take! Ironton's underclassmen are loaded with talent. The 2008 Ironton Fighting Tiger’s Seventh, Eighth, Freshman and JV teams were a very impressive 21 and 2! Results Here On IFC

AND THEY WERE OUTCOACHED WHICH YOU WON'T ADMIT EITHER.

No they might win 3 of 10 vs Ironton.

GalliaGrad. sorry buddy, I was not meaning to suggest you at all. I know you stated your respect, sorry if I worded wrong. As far as the IF'S, they are halarious. I love it when a team gets thumped and all the IF'S come out. If both teams would have showed up with their A game it would have been better, bla, bla, bla. I am sure on the way to Jackson, Ironton had a team meeting on the bus and decided to let up, not play good, ect. It was the New Lexington TEAM, that made Ironton look mismatched all night. It was New Lexingtons speed, and physical play all game. Good teams make average teams look very bad. As far as predictions and surprises, there really were not any. On this forum we all try to support each other in the SEOAL, and we show it in the polls. But beleive me, other than on this forum, not too many really thought Ironton had a chance against New Lexington. It was no surprise at all really, New Lexington is that much better period. It is over, good season Ironton.

I did not get a chance to say this, but I thought Ironton's band played very well last night. There are a lot of small HS bands in our part of Ohio, and Meigs band last week, and Ironton's band last night were outstanding. It is fun to hear these bands play, and it is great for my diet, it sure keeps me away from a very good Holzer Field concession stand!

I announce for NL's band, so I think they are okay too...

With Ironton's style of play, they must play a perfect game against good teams and that didn't happen Friday night. They committed too many penalties and made too many mistakes against a team as good as New Lex. I don't think Ironton made New Lex look good, New Lex made New Lex look good. They were surprisingly balanced for a team that doesn't take snaps from under center and spreads the field as much as they did. Plus, the weather didn't seem to slow New Lex down at all. Congrats to them, the better team won Friday night.

Im from Ironton and ill say NL is better in every aspect of the game. They Whipped us last night. Nl would prolly win 9 out of 10 times, and the only reason they might pull out one is because theres always a small margin of chance.. I said from the beginning i wasnt as impressed with this team as the rest of the Ironton community, regardless, it was still a good year.

All in all not a bad season for the fighting Tigers. Hopefully next season is even better.

Congrats to New Lex on moving on.

Too many people on here with thin skin. If your team won, who cares what the other team's fans think? If your team lost, don't come up with a list of a million excuses. Congratulate the winners and move along. And, winners, please be gracious.
Both these schools have fine programs. They wouldn't have been playing in Week 12 if they weren't.
Good luck to New Lex next week.
Congrats to Ironton on a fine season.
BTW, both the MVL and SEOAL are fine leagues. Each is represented in the playoffs nearly every year. I, personally, haven't seen any "cupcakes" in either league.

I would have liked to of seen a better game last night! I thought the refs were a good bunch. I was expecting a much closer game. NL wanted it more. I think Ironton though since they were much bigger they were just gonna push NL all over the field. Bad thing is NL is used to it. Year in year out they are probably the smallest team in the MVL and are usually at the top of the league and in the playoffs.
If good teams make mistakes they usually still play tough defense. NL scored 34 points on offense. Ironton did NOTHING to stop them, so don't say Ironton beat Ironton. I believe they had 43 yds. rushing. Not sure of the passing totals but I know it wasn't much. Certain someone on here says Ironton dropped 3 or 4 t.d.'s?? I saw 1. They did drop another that went through the hands of a NL player. So if you wanna use excuses NL should have had 3 more interceptions 1 that would have went for 6 easy.
Anyways great year Ironton. Great job NL and good luck next week! Beat Ferry!!

Who does TC blame for all those mistakes the Tigers made ? I do not know. I think NL was better prepared for what Ironton was going to do on offense and defense , than Ironton was prepared for what NL was going to do on offense and defense. NL offense was shifty (and they executed well ) and their defense was confusing, I beleive. And NL seemed to have a lot of heart. Congrats and hope we meet again !! And while we are on it, I saw Turk dressed up like a bannana. I have not seen a raincoat like that in 30 years !!

I see there are still some Ironton fans who can never give credit was due. And then they wonder why fans at other schools loathe them so much. Arrogance is such a lovely trait.

New Lex did exactly as I suspected they'd do to Ironton. And they'd do it again at a far higher rate than 3 of 10. Unless all 10 games were at Tanks, and the IHS history department officiated all 10. Then maybe they'd only win three.

So, to those who believe only Ironton ever beats Ironton, I remind you that basketball practice starts Monday.

Geez. Try a dose of humility. Some of you are such an embarrassment to your school. You treat your football history like it's a birthright, and that the rest of us should simply genuflect.

It doesn't work that way. Not anymore.

Tigercannon (maybe you should change your name to tiger_got_cannoned). Just to remind you New Lex defense gives up 7.8 points per game. If they wouldn't have made all those mistakes you say they made they may have made it to the average that NL gives up! Guess everyone else on NL schedule beat themselves too!
