SMH.....I don't know about winning everything in the SEOAL, they do still have some quality teams in ALL sports.

Jackson and its people are arrogant a - holes, always have been and always will be. Nobody is going to let them in any league.

Warren is a bigger school and is just like Jackson.

Gallia Academy will wait until everything washes out.

Logan can't go anywhere, they are too big for some of the schools in the SE, but they are too small to join the city conference.

Why would Marietta come back, are they not doing well in the conference they join?

If they could have kept Chillicothe, then the SEOAL might survive. It might yet. So this is probably alot of nonsense about nothing. A bunch of fat middle aged guys pretending to know everything and speculating on there ideal of the future and they don't know jack crap.

How is this ridiculous post still on here?

Maybe so lol.

What's funny is the general groups thousands of people into one insulting group while everyone of his posts I can find.....well either he is also from Jackson or a severe case of pot calling the kettle black.

Question. I am sure someone out there knows. But wasn't Nelsonville, Meigs former members of the SEOAL. Before it became Vinton, how about McAurther, Wellston. Now throwing anytrhing down here, just curious who was the original members, and who has been in and out. Hasn't Ironton been in and out several times? I do know that it was an administrator (Imagine that) that pushed for Warren leave the TVC. Coaches of the time were unamious against it, but were ignored. Why were they against the move. Because year in and year out they knew that Warren was not always going to be competative. Since 1986 I believe the Warren has won the all sports trophy once and that was inthe last 5 years. THe first 5 years the only league champs was wrestling. Boys and girls basketball in the last few years. As to the comments about Warrens coaches running up the score????? Not so sure on that count, but can not speak to lower levels. Know that the upper levels have been blasted by our opponents many times. But do agree its the kids that suffer when someone's ego forgets what HS sports or sports in general is all about. THE KIDS. THe sad thing is that usually several years later the favor is returned and those kids/parents/community members at that time are miffed and have no idea whar just happened. Kind of sad actually that adults can runimn it for the kids, huh. O'well am curious about the history of the schools that have been members in the past of the SEOAL, this leage has to be around for decades, has it hit 100 yet?

McArthur High School was never a member of the SEOAL. After consolidation in 1966 of the 5 county schools, the Vikings applied for membership (1968) but were denied, receiving 0 of 7 votes.

The SEOAL was unchanged in membership from 1937-1966 and was comprised of:

Athens
Gallipolis
Jackson
Logan
Middleport
Nelsonville
Pomeroy
Wellston

In 1967, because of multiple consolidations, the league's membership changed to:

Athens (The Plains, Chauncy-Dover)
Gallipolis
Jackson
Logan (Including multiple county schools like Starr-Washington [Union Furnace])
Meigs (Pomeroy, Middleport, Rutland)
Nelsonville-York (Buchtel-York, Murray City, etc.)
Wellston

Ironton joined in 1968 (chosen over Vinton County).

You can read about some of the SEOAL's history on the following website:

Actually. Logan was quite small before most of the county consolidated with them-- H.s. from Murray City, Union Furnace , Rockbridge, Enterprise, Haydenville, Gibisonville, South Bloomingville and parts of Laurelville. I may have missed a school or two as well. My H.S. class graduated 130 in 1962.

Those basketball games between Union Furnace and Laurelville could get nasty.

Don't think any teams will leave the SCOL. They are all close together now, Chillicothe being the farthest out. They are like bugs in a rug down there. Wilmington will be in next.

One thing I find interesting with this...............Vinton County never seemed to hold a grudge against any SEOAL school that voted them down to join the SEOAL when the team left the SEOAL for the TVC. Starting with Nelsonville-York in 1970, Wellston in 1982, Meigs in 1983 and Athens in 2008. Vinton County voted yes for all of those additions. Having said that, for some reason, it seems like Vinton County has a grudge with Warren for leaving the TVC to join the SEOAL. From everything I've heard, Vinton County led the initiative to deny Warren readmission to the TVC a few years back. I don't comprehend the difference between the scenarios other than those in power in the 1960s are probably dead and gone and those in power in the 1980s are probably still alive and holding grudges. Just a personal observation.
