I don't have feelings about Ironton one way or the other but i wouldn't want to see us leave Gallia. If you move Northwest and Valley over and put Jackson, Gallia, and Portsmouth in with Waverly, Burg, West, and Minford then i would challenge you to show me a stronger league in southern Ohio.....

The additional revenue and new facilities for starters. You would be adding 3 programs with alot of history and loyal fans without increasing travel time to an unreasonable level. We already play each other in many sports throughout the year so why not have it be a league battle...

With or without Ironton I still see Gallia, Jackson, Portsmouth, Waverly, Wheelersburg, and Portsmouth West as the most viable remaining league option. Competition and travel are good across the board. Not real sure if I like Minford in this set-up, and I'm not sure they would like it either. I do agree though that times are changing which might mean the end of the SEOAL. If the top tier SOC teams want to get better then they should step up. As Ironmen1987 said if the weaker teams are the ones voting no then it's time to leave them behind.

I don't like the TVC scenario that was thrown out. If a new league is formed football will be the driving factor. Meigs refuses to even play Gallia in a non-league football game, and Vinton County hasn't beat Jackson since Clinton was in office. It doesn't make football sense.

Once again this is only if Logan and Chillicothe jump ship. If they stay I want to see the SEOAL ride till the wheels fall off.

It is going to get interesting over the years to come. It wouldn't surprise me to see anything happen with this day and age. Everyone is not going to be happy no matter what though. Well, I guess they will have to learn to adapt. With things changing as fast as they are, sooner, than latter, may be the key. Will be fun to see how it is when all the dust settles. Last year at this time I never would have imagined that the Cornhuskers would be in the Big Ten either. Still it makes for good chatting to surmise what could be, and where every one ends up, and in what League. Only Father Time will tell.

It is a shame that Portsmouth has not been apart of the SOC. Its a perfect fit, but the powers just dont want it to happen. The natural rivalry games always fill the stadiums. It would be a wonderful adventure, Sat game of the weeks etc etc etc.I hope to see it in my lifetime, but have my doubts.
Best case scenario would be that the powers get together and form a separate league. But would Burg, West etc etc leave the SOC no way!

I heard Bayler needs a new Conference! I know travel would be tough though!

If the TVC added the 3 teams mentioned before, they might as well go to two 9 team divisions and cut down on non-league travel and the time, effort, and at time luck in scheduling non-league games.

There are enough teams already playing from different divisions to keep schools from hunting for non-league games late in the football season(Trim-NY, Bel-War, Alex-FH, Alex-?, FH-?, etc)

OHIO DIVISION
Athens-363
Warren-362
Jackson-301
Vinton County-296
Gallia-268
Meigs-223
Alexander-206
Wellston-181
Nelsonville-York-161

HOCKING DIVISION
Belpre-140
Federal Hocking-138
Trimble-112
South Gallia-100
Wahama-98
Miller-97
Eastern-95
Southern-91
Waterford-90

(I only post this on this thread because it seems to be the expansion thread at this point.)

If it happens there will be 3 divisions!

I think Portsmouth has their best chance of winning since they entered the league.

I probably shouldn't do this but my pick is Portsmouth. Even though they are a lot smaller than Logan (and I mean a lot, size & numbers wise) I believe this year they have a great chance of winning the league with a lot of speed (which you can't teach) and returning players. Logan is having to rebuild a little and it might take them till until the next year or two to win another title.

October 1st, 2004 is the last official SEOAL loss for Logan. It was 21-14 to Jackson. Not sure what their win streak is, they've played a few non-league contests against league teams and I can't remember which games to count.

Logan's winning streak started with a 37/21 win over Marietta

Within this the closes games were a 31/26 win over Gallipolis--35/29 win over Gallipolis--A 7/0 win over Ironton and a 14/7 win over Jackson

A four game stretch with Marietta,Warren,Portsmouth and Ironton saw the offense score 250 points [a 62.5 point average] and the defense give up 54 points with most of those being score in the 4th quarter.

I know they are currently tied with Ironton for the longest win streak in the SEOAL.

Logan has had a very nice run in the S.E.A.O.L. I think it will be a litle tougher to stay on the top this year but not impossible. I think the league will be very tight this year possibly even having co champs the comp will be good within the league good luck to all teams

I agree, Mty-dvls, The Pickerington North Game will tell how good/bad Logan is. They won't be a D-1 power, but return a core group of great athletes next year. The outcome of that game will show Logan's strength in comparison to last year's team, as well as give a good comparison for the rest of the league to see where they need to be to be successful 'up North'.
I understand one single game can't always be valued as gold, but that's the best quality team which will field anything near what Logan saw last year.
I believe the final score for Logan's Reserves last season was like 42-7, Pick. North. Let us Chieftains hope the remaining starters or new game plan meshes well with what we've got this season!

that Pickerington game might have been the only bad game they had. Didn't they go undefeated in league play? If I remember right, Logan has been 0-5 going into leage play and won the league. This is Logan's first goal.
