The MAC is so good because there is so much competition and community/parental investment. The MAC had some of Ohio's best small public schools academically and athletically... the SOC doesn't. Compare the MAC's OGT results with that of the SOC if you don't believe me.

This is by no means a slam on Wheelersburg. I am actually very familiar with the town of Wheelersburg and how invested the folks down there are in education and and sports - that's why Wheelersburg is so darn good at stuff. The rest of Scioto County? I really don't know, but from everything I've seen, every Scioto County school pales in the shadow of Wheelersburg, academically and athletically.

It has got to be a culture thing.

Yes, they do offer boys golf, but that's usually a handful of kids both boys and girls combined. These schools, like most NW Ohio schools, do not offer soccer as a fall sport. Do you ever wonder why??

The prominence of club soccer is why you don't see schools carry soccer teams in many cases. You can't seriously suggest there is no demand for soccer.

It's not that I don't think there is a demand for soccer; however, these school don't want it b/c they know how much it takes from football. These schools have decided they want to be small school football powerhouses and that's what they're going to be. Football by far is the largest money maker in any HS sport. I've worked with many of the HS admins in that area of rural Ohio setting up their 403b plans. I've looked around to see what is so different, and they're mostly farming communities. They don't have anything more and sometimes less then kids down here have. I've noticed they don't have soccer, and I've asked why they don't. They plainly say, "We don't want soccer, b/c it will take 20 or more kids away from football and we've decided we want to be a known as a football school in the fall." Guess what? That is exactly what they are. Again, the question I asked is, "Why don't these schools have soccer, and why are they so dominate in small school HS football in a public system with rural white farm kids?"

Also, If a kid want to play on a club travel team, it's not free. Their parents have to come up with the league fees, renting the fields for practice n games, and travel cost. Many parents are not willing nor can afford to do this so their kids end up on the football field.

Very tasteless and classless on your part not to mention completely pathetic to keep going on and on about it like a broken record. Get over yourself! Considering how full it of you are, it was probably you that crapped the porta-potty up!

This is what I said on my first post.
Unreal. You can't tell me there wasn't a better place to play this game. I hate this drive. Nothing wrong with the field or the venue, but the drive sucks. Especially this time of year when the deer are everywhere.

Great job OHSAA!!
I even highlighted the part where I said the field and venue were fine, so once again you are wrong. I never once complained about the facilities at NY. Maybe you need a reading comprehension course or two. I had no problem with the facilities at NY. They are top notch and have been every time we have played there. But, the drive sucks and only two pissers is pathetic.

I didn't goto the game, listened on the radio. Heart breaking loss for Burg, but everyone knew it was going to be a task for burg to win. I just want to know a few things. Who was playing the Dline for Burg against that wedge Hartley offensive line played? If we were playing our 170 or 180 pound lineman, why? Why wouldn't u put in 300 lb lineman that we have, to counter the wedge blockers Hartley has? They were 250ish on their Oline. Put some beef on the line all the time to make it really hard to block. Their wedge block is there to get the most leverage on the Dline and their runners are very patient and they ran thru the holes like butter! PUT THE BEEF IN!! We have plenty of them, all year long that weren't used!!! Many of them Sophs but they could have been the diff between a gaping hole and a stutter by the RB for Hartley trying to find a crease to run thru! I wont say that our kids we have used all year aren't darn good! They were. But we were getting blasted every play, and u don't make a change? Geez. Bless the Burg kids for making it a game! E3 did what he was supposed to do, run it and keep burg in the game, just like CW did. But the Defense was overmatched the whole game. And we have been run over by many teams. Maybe we should think about putting big boys on the Dline from now on. Everyone else does that to us!
May will be the QB next yr and he will be amazing!! We will have to find some receivers to compliment him but Im sure we will. I think we should actually be better! We have a good Oline back, a very good running back, and D that will have some big kidos ready to smack someone!! Good luck to Hartley! GO BURG!!

the burg returns more than they lose and should be as good if not better in 2014. should have more depth with fewer kids going both ways. May will be very good at the qb position.

I dont think the issue was the Dline.

There are a lot of starters coming back next year with varsity experience. Warner, Chambliss, Greeno, Bussa, and Hall on the O-Line. May, McAlister and Howard in the backfield. Burk, Davis and Dodridge had some decent time on D and I think any of those 3 could step in at receiver as well. There are some good young kids coming up from freshman/jv that could have some impact as well, such as J.Darnell, C.Darnell, and K.Newsome just to name a few. To be better next year would be tough, but by no means should it be a down year.
