Burg started slow but seemed to settle down
I had 21-10 with mostly first teamers
Burgs tackling was terrible
Oline play was not very good
Backers were not very good
Burg may be a big play team

It's funny, Ironton fans have to eat crow before the season even starts... Lol. They lost a scrimmage and they run and hide, here kitty kitty kitty. Hopefully they will come back with a realistic outlook on life and football.

I feel bad for the kid. He doesn't need some loud mouth writing checks for him that he might not be able to cash. Unfair to the kid, but of course it is coming from a clown so hopefully everyone considers the moronic source.
FCS is d1
No it isnt. Fcs is the former 1aa. Fbs is d1.

In that case FBS is the former 1A and now there is no d1 at all

Just givin you a hard time Buram. I get the point you were getting at. He was recruited by a big college, but not by one of the BIG boys on the FBS level.

I've seen West scrimmage 3 teams (Zane Trace, Westfall, & Ironton) and Ironton is the worst of the 3. Zane Trace would beat them stupid. If Wheelersburg has anything this will be a laugher.

The Pirates have many things to work on before next week, but I've seen years where I think they'll be just mediocre and they end up thrashing their schedule. Russell came to play the first half and had success up the middle and on the sweeps. Burg's OL/DL lines both need work. Not sure if both varsity's played the second half at full strength, but Burg owned the second half. Burg showed flashes of greatness but much of it was the QB(#4) making something outta nothing. Good scrimmage to get ready for next week. Also, I think #4 earned his position tonight.

After seeing the Burg play tonight I think if they make the play offs there will be another running clock on them. They didn't look all that good tonight. Maybe they were not showing anything like some other schools...lol

Wheelersburg lost alot from last year. I really don't see where these prognostications of greatness are coming from.

Burg will make the playoffs and will most likely run through the region. Only competition being Ridge wood. Then burg will get smacked around in the state semi.

The Region and the SOC will be much better this year. They may win it, but not near as decidedly as last year.

I take it you must be the town idiot. You are ignorant of everything you say. What a dueche!! This is a site for sports talk and not putting people or kids down. You have done both and I will ask the administrators to ban you.

If you watched tonight's first quarter, I guess you saw the starting fullback run the first handoff of the game breaking a number of tackles before getting tackled by the last man between him and the end zone. The coaches never ran him the rest of the night. I guess you watched the other two starting running backs as they walked on the sidelines. They didn't play. I guess you also watched the other four kids who will be starting next week in some capacity who also didn't dress. One of our linebackers tweeked his ankle in the first quarter against westfall and didn't play in the second quarter against west.

West looks much better than they did in past years. They will win some games, maybe finish second or third to wheelersburg in the SOC. You didn't get Irontons best shot. Trust me, we have more than the four plays that we ran against West tonight. It was a great workout for the team though. It did identify a couple of areas we need to work on and got our second, third and freshman squads a great workout. I will let next week speak for itself to how good Ironton is. I will say West had some big boys on the line and in the backfield. If it had been a real game and Ironton was full go, I doubt it would have ended anywhere close. Again, wait until next week.

Have all these kids you keep talking about not playing until next week injured? If they are injured and haven't been practicing or playing in any scrimmages I think it's asking a lot of them to just show up Friday and be ready to go. Have they practiced, conditioned?

All teams have injuries. Do you really think Ironton is the only one? Last week West lost 2 kids that were starting defense and one was the starting tailback.

Ironton may have a great back that can make something out of nothing. But your offensive & defensive lines are bad. Tackling is bad and they are out of shape.

As a whole, Ironton isn't bad. They are average. But when you read this garbage every year you expect a little more than to get their butts kicked and say they didn't try.

And the administration will inform you that there are 3 more "banable offenses" in your post than his.

callie15 wrote:Burg score is deceiving, Russell gave the burg all they could handle in the first half. Russell opened holes in the line Irontons band could have run through. Burg defense didn't cover the sweeps well either. Offense has a lot of skilled players but both lines have to be a concern
Let's clear this up. Russell is a great looking football team. They will beat Ironton once again this year. Number 4 for Russell is a load. Reminds me of the back from cold water just a little smaller.

Do people not understand that when you face a good team it's hard to block, tackle and make plays but yet burg found a way to settle in make adjustments and win for the most part 21-10. That was a great scrimmage for burg to learn from. The Red Devils were a physical team that the burg needed to play against.

Ive given the Ironton faithful a hard time and always will, but I sure hope they are right and these kids come back from injury and can make a huge difference. I want to see the Tigers win but I have to go with the Burg until I see different out of the Tigers.

Good Luck OVC
