Try feeding that to Johnson Central, KY. One of the poorest regions in the country, and yet they’ve won state championships year after year. Income has nothing to do with how good you are, it’s how hard you work. Not saying anything negative about Ironton’s work ethic, from what I’ve heard, their work ethic is very good. I just think saying income is a factor is kind of ridiculous.

Closer than most thought but kirtland is just to good they will probably win it all again next year

Well, Ironton had their chances. Their big mistake was not taking the chip shot FG right before the half. That keeps them within 1 score and they don't have to go into desperation mode in the 4th qtr. Also Salyers dropping the sure interception that would have ended a Kirtland drive which they ended up scoring on. Some untimely offsides penalties as well. But the tigers did play extremely hard and you have to respect the effort they put out there. Kirtland had to pull everything out of the bag (plus some lucky catches) to get this one.

So you’re saying that Kirtland just worked harder than Ironton? Do you say the same of Catholic schools with families rich enough to pay $10K+ per year? Or do they have inherent advantages? Are they born on third base but think they hit a homer? How is Kirtland different? Don’t be naive. Ironton played a great game, but Kirtland is built to win these games. Just look at the rich lady with the Here, Kitty Kitty sign. It’s smug superiority based on the reality of the income disparities. Coach Tiger said they lost a bunch of guys to injuries but they still won the game handily.
