If we don't play at the new facility, we won't have any home games, LOL. The old stadium is gone and the and the field is under about 4 feet of dirt.

The scoreboard should be going up this week and I think the track as well.

I also believe the patron bricks have been installed. The facility looks as if it will be done by July as expected.

It's very exciting to watch as the Stadium nears completion!

After the scoreboard and track are in I will go take some more photos.

Hey Locos, with regards to the new scoreboard. Do you know what type it will be? I heard early on that it will be top of the line with a video screen and all the bells and whistles but that was a while ago. Either way this stadium will be something to see when finished in a couple weeks.

I don't believe a video board is in the works, I think we'll see more along the lines of what Jackson has and is common in the OCC, which is a big scoreboard that has scrolling text to send messages/advertisements.

Locos, Thank you sir. Anything is better than what we had, especially at the end when they stopped fixing it. "The first two minutes will be kept by the referees as the scoreboard cannot show the first two minutes of the quarter". Bill Sauer Field just barely made it. I look forawrd to the latest and greatest pictures and thank you ahead of time for posting them.

We're looking into a video board ... but they are quite pricey. As in tens of thousands of dollars pricey.

I imagine the real issue with a video board is as much purchasing the cameras and the editing equipment in order to have something to show on the board. By the time you bought 3-4 cameras and the equipment to get their shots on the board, you'd be looking at a large lump of cash.

Depends on what you do with it. I don't think the OHSAA allows you to feed live action onto such a board, nor are you permitted to show replays (obvious reasons). We would perhaps discuss WHIZ-TV here in Zanesville doing a weekly highlight clip to show during pre-game, for example.

We're more looking at it for pre-produced items as well as selling 30- and 60-second commercial spots to generate revenue. May do the same in just an audio vein over our new sound system (same one Logan's getting).

I will be the first to admit I don't know how the OHSAA rules apply, but they do allow live plays and replay during playoff games.

When we played at Crew Stadium in 2000 they used the video board there and I know that during the Herbstreit Classic in Cincinnati they use the boards at Nipert.

Could be true. I'm going on memory, which is fading.

I guess my point is that if you have a video board, it's not necessarily a requirement to have live action on it. Possible, yes, but not necessary, IMO. For schools such as yours and ours, the cost for doing it would be rather prohibitive. Some schools, not so much!

We agree there.

I see your point about turning the board into a fundraiser. It's probably still cost prohibitive here, but at ZHS I would think it has potential.

spare no expense. we voted for a state of the art facility and thats what we want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. a video board would be great. we will all be voting on an operating levy in the near future probably but it will be worth it.

Drove by the new high school yesterday and they don't have the scoreboard up yet but they do have the support beams installed and painted so I can assume that it won't be long. Also the track hasn't been put in yet. Everything else is looking good, at least from what I could see from the highway. 328 is down to one lane for construction of the entry/exit. They have really cracked down on people visiting the facility so a highway view has been the closest that I've been able to get the past couple trips. Even my cousin, who works for the company that installed the field, got in trouble for being on site unannounced. Looks like we'll just have to wait for the gates to open.

Is that a two story press box?

Are there many teams in southern Ohio with team?

Zanesville has a 2-story press box, one of the best in SE Ohio along with Marietta. Hopefully Logan can join Jackson in the next group down as far as press boxes go.
