Re: WK3 (1-1) Oak Hill @ (0-2) Rock Hill
man, rock hill is having a rough time of it. going 0-3. with the meat of the schedule coming up. they have lost to 2 d5 squads , and have 2 more consecutively coming up. but these are not run of the milld5 squads either. starting with portsmouth west. and then playing wheelersburg back to back, both away games. and then ovc play starts with fairland probably being the best chance at a win. then chesapeake who is 2-1, then coal grove , who is1-2. but beat a tough valley squad tonight. then south point, who is playing really good ball. and closing with a much improved river valley school. with 5 of the next 7 on the road. with this said, and this is not a backhanded compliment, like some will take it. keep your nose to the grindstone, and execute the fundamentals soundly. protect the ball. and there are still 7 games to go. i wish you all the best. keep your heads up. and iron sharpens iron.

Good job Oaks, way to just play the game. Need to stay healthy though. Slone is favoring an injury from BBall that is effecting some passes, but he is dealing with it nicely.
One thing, dont get cocky, now that you guys have one a couple East will be looking forward to you guys even more at their place. I believe you have the talent and the ability to take them out, but if you dont focus and get to assured of yourself. Then look out for the loss.
Again great game and Congrates

From the Oak Hill paper......
The Oak Hill Oaks stepped a bit outside their norm Friday night at Rock Hill and came away with a 42-18 victory over the Redmen on the loser's field.
The Oaks, now 2-1 and winners of two straight, usually run out of a double-wing set offensively, but on Friday went some to the I-formation and had a good outing on the ground against the Redmen, who fell to 0-3.
While their ratio of run to pass has been about 50/50 in the Coach Greg Phillips era, against the Redmen, the Oaks ran the ball more than 50 times and threw just five passes.
Fortunately, the two completions by Oaks' quarterback Jesse Slone both went for touchdowns.
"We felt we could run it at them, so we decided to mix it up a little bit,' Phillips said. "They (Rock Hill) had our game film against Chesapeake and we thought they would defend us the way Chesapeake did when we were in our double-wing set. So, we said, 'let's get into the I (formation) and see if we can knock them off the ball' and obviously we did."
Oak Hill ran for 160 yards in the first half and finished with 210 for the game. Slone completed 2 of 5 passes for 44 yards and two touchdowns. Pete Fisher and Westen Hale led the Oaks and all rushers with 135 yards apiece on 21 and 19 carries, respectively.
Defensively, the Oaks held the Redmen to 118 yards on the ground and 111 through the air, giving up 55 and 57 yards in each half, via the pass.
"I don't care what people say about them being an 0-3 football team," Phillips said. "They're a good team, but they're a young team with young players who are making some mistakes right now. They made some errors tonight against us, but if they don't make those mistakes, it would have been a little tighter ballgame."
Oak Hill shut the Redmen down on their first possession on a three-and-out, then set the tone for the game as they ran the ball 10 straight times, covering 58 yards with Slone crashing over from one yard out with 6:58 to play in the first quarter. This gave Oak Hill the early lead and as it turned out, the Black and White were never challenged.
Oak Hill kicker Dylan Lewis who seemed to struggle a bit in the first two games, had it all going on this evening as he booted the first of what would turn out be seven straight point-after kicks.
Rock Hill picked up its first down on its next possession, but two plays after this, they lost the ball on a fumble, giving the Oaks possession at the OH 46.
Oak Hill stayed on the ground and 10 plays later, Slone found a wide-open J.D. Hale in the end zone for the Oaks' second touchdown with 1:10 showing on the first-quarter clock. The Lewis kick made it 14-0.
After forcing the Redmen to punt, Oak Hill would give the ball away on a fumble, but Rock Hill returned the favor as Slone stripped C.J. Justice of the ball, recovering the ball at the RH 37.
Set up by the Oaks' success on the ground on its previous drives, Slone faked a run and found Joey Maynard open behind the defense for a 37-yard aerial score. The point-after kick made it a 21-0 Oak Hill lead.
Rock Hill was able to mount a drive on their next possession that took the ball all the way inside the OH 15. But the Oak Hill defense stiffened and held the hosts on downs.
Oak Hill widened its lead to 28-0 when Pete Fisher ran in from four yards with 2:28 remaining in the first half.
But Rock Hill would finally answer on its next possession, moving 53 yards in 11 plays with quarterback Will McCollister finding split end Mitchell Davenport in the end zone on a six-yard pass with just 4.6 seconds remaining in the half. The two-point conversion try failed and the Oaks took a 28-6 lead into the intermission.
Oak Hill would make one of its few mistakes of the game on the first possession of the second half when a Slone pass was picked off at RH 16. Fortunately, Rock Hill managed just one yard on that next set of downs and a nice punt return by senior Zach Haislop gave the Oaks the ball near midfield.
Westen Hale ripped off an 18-yard run on the first play from scrimmage and after a six-yard run by Fisher, Slone took a quarterback sneak 25 yards to the RH 3. Fisher ran for a touchdown on the next play with the extra point making it 35-7 with 6:27 remaining in the third quarter.
The Oaks forced Rock Hill into another punting situation and Oak Hill extended its lead to 42-7, moving 63 yards in six plays, culminating on a 14-yard run by Westen Hale with 10.2 seconds left in the third quarter.
Rock made the final score more respectable by punching the ball into the end zone twice in the final quarter.
Rock Hill's first possession of the fourth quarter saw it move the ball 66 yards in 11 plays with McCollister completing four of six passes on the drive, taking the ball down to the OH 15. Corey Bammer then ran the ball twice, covering the final 15 yards to the end zone with 8:33 remaining. The two-points try failed and Oak Hill still had a comfortable lead of 42-12.
The final score came when McCollister connected on a 19-yard TD pass to C.J. Justice on Rock Hill's final possession with just 1:19 remaining to make the final score 42-18.
Oak Hill will be back home next Friday night when the Scioto Northwest Mohawks visit in a non-divisional Southern Ohio Conference matchup.

Great move by the OH coach to find the weakness of RH and switch to the run game. The late scores were against the OH JV I would guess.

Hey wolley, not sure of your sources, but I talked to Jesse's dad, and he said he wasn't aware of any injury. Must be a well kept secret. Also, Derf, the scores actually came against the first team defense. The starters played the whole game, both offensively and defensively.
Re: WK3 (1-1) Oak Hill @ (0-2) Rock Hill
Jesse suffered a slight injury during basketball.. and it was a problem during track season as well (knowledge that came from both parents) but to Jesse's character he played on it.. and performed in track as well. But if you watch him he, just like anyone else who had a break tear pull or something, he favors it not letting it get hurt.
Don't get me wrong, Jesse is playing hard, and playing well. I am just saying that he is favoring the weaker part. Jesse is a good QB and played well Dfence.

Besides... Jesse wont complain about it! He will deal with it and that is what makes him a good athlete.
