Dale's only competition for POY would come from his own team and that's Bricker. Dale should get it though. He has the kind of numbers that it took to win the award in the past. He plays on the best team and is a fine kid. He is an example of what hard work will do. He wasn't born the best athlete around. He worked his tale off to make himself a great player.

Dale should probably get it and he obviously deserves it...IMO if this award was for the Most Valuable Player then I believe
B. Schankweiler would receive it...Whether you believe that is true or not is up to you but without that boy they wouldn't be here today

West is loaded with really good players and I look for many of them to be mentioned in the SE District and 2-3 in the State of Ohio.

I`m having a hard time with this decision. On one hand I believe that Swords is well deserving of this Award, BUT, on the other hand I feel as though Shankweiler has steped in as a 10th grader and done a awsome job with the Pirates season, and taken them into the playoffs.
Glad I don`t have to make this call!
Coach Of the Year ; Woodward !

it's Swords. Yes the QB from Burg stepped in a hard situation and did a good job. But do you honestly think he is the best player in the league or even close? He would not have taken a snap as QB at West this year in a varsity game.

What they may mean though is his brother, the senior HB.

Swords hands down. Best back in the SOC. Triplett probably is the COY based on winning the SOC and taking a 4-6 team to 10-0 and making it to week 12.

I think that Timmy Evans has to be mentioned in the L.O.Y. He plays with pure heart and determination, and on the defensive side he is as good as anyone.

And if you look at Swords stats he should receive the player of the year. He is a good guy, he has always been a team player and one of the very best for showing great sportsmanship.

Thanks, I didnt see the game.

COY - I know that Burg has an excellent argument that Woodward should get it, but this award has generally always gone to the coach of the Conference Champions. Woodward did do a great job, especially after loosing some key players to grad. and starting qb to injury. Trip, on the other hand, took the helm and went 4-6 and turned it around with a 10-0 season, Conference Championship, Number 1 seed in playoffs...it's kinda hard not to give it to him.

Anyways, best of luck and congratulations to all who receive awards this season. I'm happy that we have the Gold Football and look forward to seeing a Sider run through the playoffs. Nothing against Minford, I'm also hoping for a Burg/West rematch in a few weeks. To take the conference title and regional title away from them Pirates in the same season would be TOTALLY SWEET!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL! MAY EVERYONE HAVE SAFE TRAVELS THIS PLAYOFF SEASON and MAY ALL THE BOYS BE INJURY FREE!

BEEP-BEEP

Great post,

but you know Tripp had all those seniors.... And they should be awarded, nobody else but J or S swankweiler has anything against the West squad. One thing though, Swords penalty vs ??? where he grabbed the facemask instead of tackling the guy could hurt him. I dont think so myself, but if it counts, then so be it (if it was swords that did that). And I didnt see it on tape etc.. just heard it from rumors. I know Dale and he has been awesome but I think S or J shankweiler could have comparable stats, especially the soph QB for Burg. Nut if that tackle is legit by facemask, may mean he was saving himself fpr college level and not putting it forth for the team.

I CAN'T STAND YOU !!!!!!! YOU TRY TO TO FIND ANYTHING NEGATIVE YOU CAN TO SAY ABOUT WEST KIDS,FANS AND COMMUNITY POSSIBLE. YOU MY FRIEND ARE THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD TRY NOT TO ACT LIKE.YOU PUT DOWN WEST ON THIS WEBSITE BUT FACE TO FACE YOU WOULD BE A COWARD.EVERY POST YOU MAKE IS NEGATIVE TOWARDS OTHER TEAMS BESIDES THE BURG YOU'RE A JOKE.

LOL, I find almost everything West says on here negative because most of you arent behind your team till they are good. That is the truth. And all year you have said nobody has a chance. And Burg almost beat you on your home field with a lessor team! Who is talking now. On that West thread there were many of you kicking Burgs butt. Thats ok, you will get yours again.

I sat at Zanesville, freezing my ars off watching the Siders beat ursuline. I had 2 comforters under my ars and 2 blankets shielding the wind just to watch the game. Dont tell me Im a Joke. I paid my money, I couldnt possibly expect you to say anything different. I am sure you were there! Even if you werent.

How about you say something nice about Burg? I grew up a #13 in 17 kids and I know how it is to be tough. You want face to face?? Coward huh? I payed my dues getting a bad neck playing for Ed. What did you do? Buy a new computer so you could post better? I would love to meet you face to face!Calling me a coward, miserable @@@@@. Nice post.

people like black76 and others get on here this year and pull for West. Thats ok. Where were they last yr? Nowhere. The West side sucked so they wouldnt have anything to do with them.

Maniac, how did I get involved in this? First of all, cry me a river. I was there last year rooting for PWest all the way and was proud to support West. So now you are saying Burg is the "lessor" team? Guarentee you one thing, if Burg and West played 10 games this year, West would win at 8 on a bad day. Second, Swords is bigger, stronger and faster. He played from the fullback position where White played. Wishbone vs T formation are similar offenses. It is much harder to get those yards from fullback position than from tailback or halfback position, if you know anything about football. Third, it is fair to assume Coach Triplett is a friend to Coach Woodward. While I think Coach Woodward has done an outstanding job this year as a new head coach(even though you Burg-ites have already started tearing him down for that last game), Coach T took a losing team(he did not walk into a winning program that he was familiar with) and turned it around in a year AND had a perfect 10-0 season. Point being, it would be hard to skip over Swords and Triplett and give those things to "your guys". It would look kind of strange all in all. But hey, stranger things have happened.

Guess I had a crystal ball at the first of this year and knew West would go 10-0 so I got right in there and supported them. Stupid logic. I would like to see your attitude if/when Burg had several losing seasons.HA
You try hard to pretend you like West but you don't and it is okay. We all just get tired of your comments about how parents don't care, or naming certain kids or negative talk about the seniors, you went on and on about how they had never proved themselves or cared or some kind of bull. YOU WERE WRONG and no appreciates your constant patronizing attitude towards West and their program or kids or fans or parents. West freshman and West Reserves were nothing but tough this year and both went undefeated so maybe just maybe you will eat even more of your stupid comments in the future. Adios amigo. I get tired of this stuff. PS I would support West if they were 0-10.

Last but not least, I have NEVER seen a West fan get on a Burg site and call out certain kids names or labeled your senior class in some derogatory manner, they may talk smack like every fan does from every team but you have taken it a step further on a public forum and you were WRONG.  :o

Actually demaniac1, many of us didn't know about this site until this year. As far as "us" not supporting these kids, coaches, etc...you have no idea. We have sat thur losing season after losing season and "we" never gave up on our kids. We are here supporting our kids just like you are, and as far as saying anything nice about Burg kids, I have seen many posts from West people wishing your kids good luck. I know I myself congratulated your kids on a great season. Yes there are idiots posting on here from "both" sides, but don't assume you know anything about us or our support for our kids and coaches.

BTW, since this thread is about player of the year, my vote goes to Dale Swords. Dale has given 100% whether we were winning or losing for the last 4 years. Coach of the year should go to Triplett. He stepped into a program that needed major work and has motivated his team off season and in season to be the best they can be and has turned this program around. SOC Champs and a 11-1 record. Way to go WEST.

Much agreed, getting to a state game is all that matters, awards never got my boys or anyone else I know a scholarship or a coach/fan of football to look at them any differently, also, no coach ever has asked if they won a certain award and the players, coaches and true fans of football, no matter what school, know who real deal players are on all of the teams, anyway, but especially the players because they are the actual ones on the field. Never seen a game won by a few players, it takes a team of players and a team of coaches. It is voted on by coaches only and based or should be on stats of certain players, and what the particular SOC coach of teams thought of a particular player when the teams met up over the season.

Guys don't worry about the maniac, he told us all year how we were gonna get beat and we didn't. How that inferior as he calls them Burg team was gonna pass all over us and they didn't. He's a blow hard. I just wonder how he's gonna live with himself when West wins at least 2 out of the next 3 and possibly all 3 with the kids that are in the high school right now. May want to go on suicide watch.
