Well, genius, lets take Buffalo St. Joes. They will play Iggy, St. Eds, Steubie, and Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline from Ohio over the years that I know of. O'Hara, same deal. Akron Buchtel plays Massillon, St. Vincents-St. Marys, Warren Harding and Canton area D-I teams.Ursuline would have beaten 98 %+ of all teams in Ohio this year, but didn't qualify becuase of playing National powerhouses and Ohio powers. Morgantown beat both South and Park by 28-7. How did those teams do against Ohio teams ? lol Massillon lost out of the playoffs the last game , lsoing to D- Canton McKinley in the rivalry game.Mt. St. Joes is usually a power in the Baltimore, MD. area but people won't play then , so they gladly come to Steubie. You still trying to say Steubie played a wimp schedule? If you are you are a complete tool. The quality of that schedule would impress most coaches. But then, I'm talking to a redneck from the hills where they pipe sunshine to for light. And probably a kid at study hall. No need to act a fool, you look it just relaxing.No one in SEO would have the guts to play that schedule.

What does a southern Ohio team (Portsmouth West, Jackson, Gallia AC, etc) gain by traveling all over the state playing D1 and D2 schools? There are no D1 and D2 schools in the area.

Lets just say for example Jackson plays Iggy, Colerain and St Eds. They win out in the SEOAL and miss the playoffs in DIII because they played a terrible schedule. They would have 3 losses and would miss the playoffs in Region 12, which I believe to be one of the toughest pound for pound regions in the state. They would gain nothing. They would be sitting at home with Ursuline.

What does a high profile team in D1 or D2 gain by beating a D3, 4 or 5 school? Nothing. Thats why they wouldnt "schedule down".

The thing you are missing is this: In southern Ohio, south central and eastern Ohio to be more specific, there are no D1 and D2 schools. Very few D3. Geographically it doesnt make sense. Monetarily it doesnt make sense. Playoff picture wise it doesnt make sense.

The only idiot it makes sense to is you! That is why you want to keep spouting off at the mouth up there in the homicide leader of the state and make a weak attempt in putting down people and their communities. Get a life. You are an old man who couldnt coach anymore and is bored. Do you play golf? Chess? Bridge?

You know being in the State Finals every year isnt a goal for every team in the state. Some consider it a success making the playoffs, winning their conference, winning a playoff game or two or making it out of the regionals. Why dont you just mind your own business, because the only place you are a legend and football genius is in your own mind. I noticed that you didnt do your football picks this year. Glad to see you saved yourself the embarrassment based on how that went for you last season.

It's a fallacy to believe scheduling and scheduling alone is a cure-all.

This is one of the best statements on this thread.

It's my opinion that playing a difficult schedule does pay dividends, as long as you aren't grossly over scheduled. However, schedule strength is certainly not the only factor that goes into building a strong program. Obviously you must have talent, and along with that talent, you need to have a solid coaching staff in place. In addition to that, you really need community support, especially in a place like SE Ohio. The more resources you have, the easier it is to achieve and sustain success.

I have said this time and time again, but Paladin is correct in what he says, at least to an extent. He goes nuts on SE Ohio and is basically the world's worst at voicing an opinion while also being respectful, but he is right in principle. The thing is, his plan is much easier said than done. SE Ohio will probably continue to struggle in the playoffs, except for a team here or there (which is basically how it has always been) unless schedule strength is increased, but at the same time, athletic program budgets and other economic concerns do dictate what a school can or can't do. Paladin may call that an excuse, but it really isn't. It's an athletic director's job to run a successful athletic program while also operating on a clearly defined budget.

I'd love to be able to pick and choose a schedule that allows a program to challenge itself, while also offering up an abundance of computer points. However, in a lot of cases, it's just not that easy, especially in an impoverished region of the state. And if you can afford to schedule a game against an opponent from one of the metro areas, will they actually want to play you? Why travel down South when they can find "better" competition in their own back yard? Hopefully some of the programs in this area, Jackson included, will be able to move closer to Paladin's ultimate goal at some point, but until then, I guess we better prepare to hear him rant and rave every year, even though it's so tiresome for him.

The point is that you use SEOPs as your audience to belittle SE Ohio. What do you think that accomplishes? If you are truly as disgusted by the condition of SE Ohio football as you say you are, use a more meaningful channel to get your point across.

I agree with you there ironman02 but he would rather get on here and put the schools and kids and supporters down it makes him feel big.
He quit being a football coach because he couldn't hack it so now he sits behind his mighty key board belittling the SEO schools.
But like it was put earlier Logan upped their schedule and look at the results.
You win with what you have not who you schedule.

Playing weaker teams does give you a winning record and a deceiving one yes.
And it does show in playoffs at times but it is what it is we have several good programs still in playoffs and as for me I am going to root for them all regardless what pally says.

Not us if he left for the money so be it he is the one hiding his record and running down the area schools.

I just don't care for the way he dishes on the SEO schools it's his opinion on what he thinks but says alot just to get people riled up it's all good.
