best ironton running backs
Re: best ironton running backs
I played against Conwell and was an All Conference defensive player from Portsmouth that year and he was a beast. Very good back who punished people. May not be the best ever at Ironton but definitely in the top group. Jackson would have to be #1 though.

I would have to agree with this post also! Not only a great back, passer, and kickoff man!

Jermon was a great back for Ironton, I wish he would have stayed in his hometown of Huntington and played for the Highlanders.

Are all people in Ironton like Fonzy and born at the age of 13? My guess would be BEFORE he was in Junior high...

My vote goes for Jermon. Not only was he an awesome back he was one of the best punt returners around. As a frosh didnt he have like 3 punt returns for TD against South Point in a playoff game at Spartan. He had some moves on him. He was kinda of like Booby Miles except he couldnt sell popcorn.

Well, I played against Jermon in grade school in Ironton. He played for Campbell Elementary. He also played Little League Baseball in Ironton for the Expos and Reds. I would say HE might call Ironton his hometown. Pretty sure he moved to Detroit for a while but that's it. I believe his dad was from Huntington. (P.S. I don't think there were any Highlanders back then....Pony Express, maybe?).
For those who were wondering what Jermon is up to now, last time I talked to him he had graduated from OSU then gone back and earned his Master's Degree. He seemed to be doing well.
Jermon is without a doubt one of the top two or three high school running backs I have ever seen. That includes attending the state championships for many, many years.

Re: best ironton running backs
So let me be serious for a moment (Just a moment people
)
So when did these Ironton backs play? Can someone give me a rundown on what years they played, what stats they had, how many years they were a starter and their supporting cast? Im actually trying to learn something here before you assume that im doing what i do. One of you diehard Ironton fans please reply (Kantucky, OHBuckeyes, Cannon or RRR) I would like a reply from all of you.

Re: best ironton running backs
I graduated in 1982 with Dennis Bacon and Jimmy Morris
I don't have their stats but they were on the 79 State Championship team and never lost a regular season game while playing Varsity Football 27-0-2.
I don't know who would have any career stats of the players handy.
