BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see Coach Boston back in at NY.. As for the Blizzardman sounds like you have no idea the importance that a Coach can have on kids lives.. Your comment JUst a Football Coach is an indication that you don't realize how a man in that position can help all kids.

Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The super is a very respectable person that I have known growing up. I do not think he would just make such a decision without thinking it through and having the support of people in the district. Sometimes decisions are made that the community doesn't always understand or wouldn't understand and with a decision of this magnitude I am sure he didn't want to have to make this decision. He is a Nelsonville grad as well and I am sure has respect for the Boston family, but unfortunately he is the person that had to make these decisions. The board spoke, then changed it's stance after the community showed it feelings or after things were sorted out and I am glad for the Boston family. I would hate to see Boston go this way and especially for his father to feel disrespected, but it is possible that someday a change will need to be made. I do not think you can be an administrator without a degree and I hope coach finishes it as soon as possible, because in the end the school district must be fair. No one else can work as an administrator or teacher without the proper credentials. That does not mean that Boston is not qualified to be the AD and/or head coach... obviously he has done the job for 6 years! Best of luck back home and hope you have a successful season. I am looking forward to seeing the Buckeyes and Arnold next season! Go Bucks!

Actually, it does mean he is not qualified to be the AD.

Well I mean he may have the experience and ability to do it, but I think there is some gray area with being hired as an AD. I do not know what the specific qualifications are that is why I said "think".

BlizzardMan wrote:As has been said about six times already, they probably wanted him to quit as AD. I think the school board just wanted to get elected for their next terms. That is the main reason this happened. I have nothing but respect for Coach Boston, but I think it is unfair to through the Super under the bus without knowing the whole story. He does not have to justify the firing of Coach Boston to anyone.
The superintendent has to justify all of his/her actions to the board of education and to the tax payers of his/her district.

Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do understand the impact a Coach can have on kids, but he cannot coach forever. Also by not doing his part in the agreement, he is not teaching his players how to take responsibility. Boston wins football games.... deep down that is all that matters apparently. However, their are certain ways of doing things and Coach Boston must have not done something right. Coaches can be positive influences, but they also have to live up to ALL of their responsibilities. Now by not doing his part, his hands are stained just like the board's for hanging the Superintendent out to dry.

Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently he does somewhat more than just win football games, judging from many of the comments I've read and heard about him from N-Y folks.
He apparently has made a significant impact in the lives of many of the young men that play at N-Y.
I don't know anything about the status of his college degree or what agreement he has or had in place with the district regarding that issue.

But how do you know he is not doing his part??
Everything that has been said for the most part is second hand information.
As far as I know he was given 10 years to get his degree, but I don't know that as fact so I never said anything. I know some things are true and some aren't but I don't know the whole story and I don't think to many people do. I really don't think that we will learn anymore about it either. I think its a situation that shouldn't have happened like it did and in the end the school board, super and coach Boston handled it like adults and thats all that matters. Whatever the agreement is or was I really hope that both parties stick to it.
Coach Boston has the support of the community and student population behind him. As long as he continues to be the person he is that will not change. I am, glad this is over and I feel it is time to move on. The BOE can take care of more pressing matters and Coach Boston can take care of the things that he needs to handle.

Dude give it up. The kid was a freshman transfer from another school. He played a total of 4 plays in 2 blow out wins. It didn't affect the outcome of either game.

Actually, it DID end up affecting those 2 games. Nelsonville-York ended up losing those games because of Boston's screw up.

And NY took it's medicine and moved on.
As far as the degree goes, I too would like to see Davey get his degree. I know that he enrolled at OU last spring. I also know that due to his needing to fulfill his duties as AD prevented him from finishing out the quarter. As AD he needs to be at all athletic functions. Track, baseball and softball included leaving little to no time for classes.

I believe the wrestling coach also had to get his degree, and as soon as they told him, he started school and is now finishing up or is finished. Coach Yinger has 3 small children, has wrestling all year around, and attends his childrens events. There is not a coach out there that does as much for his program as he does......and he does it himself, he doesn't count on assistants like some programs....and he found time to finish his degree, like he was told to.
Don't blame time on not being able to go to school.

Once again Imfao, great post. Coach Yinger is a standout guy. Coach Boston has simply failed to comply with ehat was asked of him.

Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had contact with him. I did not say he wasn't a good guy, but that doesn't mean he didn't mess up, or that the board did not have a reason to not renew him. The board and Super were left with no choice but to hire him back. All of the good decisions they have made and getting rid of the football coach would have buried them all. It simply is not fair to them.
Re: BACK COACH BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think that any of us are in a position to speculate on who "screwed up, sold out, bowed down, or made a mistake". The only thing that is certain is that the parties involved are the only ones that know exactly what happened. I will not sit back and blast or defend anyone for something that I have no idea about, and anyone who does is talking out of their butt. I believe that the people who are elected and paid to handle this have made their decision based on all the facts and anyone who wasn't in it from beginning to end shouldn't pass judgement. But then again theory and conjecture is much more entertaining.
