"Malone returns at tailback after missing six games to injury last season and Price will be out wide for Roback."

Where did the writer of this article get his information if it's incorrect?

Why are you asking me? I am not the author of that article, thats not my job. Whoever did write that article didn't do their job properly because they posted incorrect information. Why don't you go ask the coaching staff at Waverly, you are apart of the team aren't you? Either a player, coach, or family member to a player or coach. You have access to the proper statistics...and whatever else it is called.

I know for a FACT that the article misprinted. He did not even come close to missing that many games. Maybe you should try coming up with something on your own, not some "writers"

Kevin probably missed part of 6 games, but did not miss 6 full games.

I am trying to figure out why the argument is taking place over the events of last season. I as a TIGER fan hope Kevin plays every down of every game in 2009 and gets to have success in his last season with the orange and black. You people kill me arguing about stuff that has zero relevence to anything.

fbone,
No, I'm not part of the team or a relative of a player or coach and didn't remember every minute of every game. I do know Malone missed allot of action and I was stating that because of the rediculous accusations that Waverly relied ONLY on Roback. In addition to Malone being hurt and missing allot of action, many plays were busted where Roback had to tuck it and run. The stats do not show the original play design. Stats don't tell the whole picture.

Tigers24,
I'm not arguing anything. People come on here and make rediculous statments. I was just pointing out Waverly did NOT rely on Roback ONLY.
How does that take away from this season? Everyone in Waverly hopes Kevin remains healthy and has a GREAT year. That translates into a great Tiger season.

Doesn't every team rely on their best players? Who should they rely on Freddy and the band!

Agreed. Waverly will be improved, but they will struggle against teams with good defenses that stop Roback.

Even improved, Waverly will still more than likely be a one man band.

What is the scrimmage schedule for the Tigers this year? Will there be 3 "tune-ups" as permitted by the OHSAA this season?

So, are there just two "scrimmages" scheduled?

tigers2010,
Those were the only two I was informed of. Maybe Waverly thinks two scrimmages is enough to get us ready for the Redstreaks.

I wasn't saying that or thinking they were dropping the ball by only scheduling two. I just know the OHSAA are permitting the 3rd "tune-up " this year and hadn't heard if Waverly was taking advantage it. I'm sure several schools are still only playing two.

tigers2010,
I wasn't trying to imply that you thought Waverly was making a mistake by only playing two scrimmages. If it came off that way I apologize.

I thought the Tiger defense looked much improved Saturday. Our ends did a pretty good job of containment, interior lineman got penetration, and the linebackers ran around and made some tackles. The DB's were pretty untested, as the Maxwell kid is obviously much more of a runner than thrower; however, I thought they broke on the ball pretty well and kept the game in front of them. Offensively, I thought we showed some nice flashes...Malone had some nice runs, showing patience, and I thought the O-line and the FB's did a nice job of creating some space for him. Derek had some nice throws and runs...I would just like to see him start playing like he's 6'3 and 215 pounds. He plays small. I want to see him start finishing off some runs and making some DB's pay. If he starts doing that, it's going to change the character of that offense, which in turn would boost the entire team.

First things first: It needs to warm up going to cold scrimmages doesn't really appeal to me.
Now about the way Waverly looked. The defensive line did a nice job getting in the backfield and disrupting the play if not totally blowing up the play. The linebackers on a couple plays "flew" around like some of the linebackers of the past used to.
The DBs are young and unproven, they seemed to give up the short pass so they wouldn't get beat deep.
Offensively Malone had some nice runs, Roback had some nice runs and throws. The line at times gave Roback all day at times they let the D-linemen get off their blocks. We'll find out more against Circleville Friday.

Couldn't make it this past Saturday due to other obligations and will be in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend. Sure wanted to see the Tigers once before the Streaks come to town. Somebody give us a full report.

Will Roback stay pretty much under center or will he be moved around (TB, slot, WR, etc.)? Also, is Roback punting and handling the place kicking duties?

Roback is a great athlete and you should want the ball in his hands on every play. The only two ways to make sure that happens is to leave him at QB or move him to center. .

Derek is the QB.

As for the scrimmage, I agree with bookem13 in all aspects. Very well said.
