Re: Portsmouth Notre Dame @ Greenup County, 9/4 @ 7:30PM
To make sure all people understand my viewpoint : my questions were with the administrators who scheduled the game. NOT with the young men playing the game.
ND produces the finest young men in scioto co. ESPECIALLY those who have their lives shaped by the game of Football. I have no doubt they will play with pride and desire on friday night. They always have and I'm sure they always will. Best of luck. MD

I think you guys are letting your emotions run wild. GCHS AD Chris Alister is a Notre Dame Fan (if you don't believe me look at the front of his truck ND license Plate). Chris Alister was looking for a new football coach last year and I believe Coach McNight express interest in that position off or on the record. Now that GC X-coach is a assistant there, it was a no brainer about a game. ND going to put eleven on the field and so is GC, let the best team win. Raceland a 1A school beat Ashland 5A last 3 out of 4 years. I personally would rather see GC schedule Portsmouth and play at the new stadium.

Even with 500 boys to choose from for GC vs. 60 boys to choose from for ND?
Even with the size differences in the trenches?
I would say that Greenup County has the speed advantage as well.

I would take exception to 500 kids to choose from. If GC had the participation percentage that ND has, No there should be no game. Many athletes at GC do not part of football. Tobias you know and I know about the numbers. I can't think one soph to senior that crosses over from baseball or basketball except the two first year players that are seniors.

I hope Notre Dame pulls this game off as a win.
Good luck Notre Dame.

I have personally seen ND play and have watched some film of GC. The Titans can hang with Greenup. I predict an enormous effort will be put forth and this will counter Greenup's size advantage. If ND can sustain some drives and keep the ball and the clock running (complete high percentage of passes) they will keep it close or possibly even pull one off. If the passing game is not clicking, GC will win by 3 TD's.
ND must protect the QB. This will be the difference.

Last I heard...Greenup was up 29 to 25 just after the half
Re: Portsmouth Notre Dame @ Greenup County, 9/4 @ 7:30PM
Final...29-25 what an effort by ND...wow....that to me would be a moral victory..although I am sure the kids won't consider it a victory...but to me...that had to have been a great effort...if they would have won this game...could you imagine..

Re: Portsmouth Notre Dame @ Greenup County, 9/4 @ 7:30PM
Definitely within their grasp. A couple mental mistakes at key times and some questionable play calling within the 10.
I don't know if it's harder to lose one like that or to be blown out. If that game would have been won, would have been hard to keep them out of the playoffs!!!
Way to go ND boys, the game was a true test of your strength and ability for the season and conference play yet to come. GO ND!!!!!!!

The kids and their parents read this, and although I understand reverse psychology, the kids may just back down instead of rise to the challenge if they think one of their own coaches thinks this about the game. Instead of stoking any fire they had to try and win this game you may have well put it out! You have them tarred and feathered before they step on the field.
BTW, I don't think ND should be playing this game either. GC already has the size advantage, I feel you just gave them the psychological one as well.
Prove me wrong boys!!! GO ND!!!

Good game Notre Dame, sounds like it just slipped away from you in the end.
Re: Greenup County 29 Notre Dame 25 Final
I think this game could come to pay off in the long run... they have a very hard road ahead of them before Soc play starts, I think by the time Soc play comes around Notre Dame could sneak up on some teams...maybe get a share of the title...I mean East doesn't look that impressive, Green is down, Symmes Valley is a big question mark, I think Oak Hill would be hard to beat for them, but you never know
Re: Greenup County 29 Notre Dame 25 Final
I'd love to see Symmes Valley and ND reach the playoffs!
Congrats to ND on a hard-fought game!

Perhaps I could get you an easy chair and a cold soft drink to watch the game.
