Blue_nd_Gray, The GAHS lineup has many sophs and jrs. The team appears to be improving as the season progresses, which is a sign of good coaching. The jv and frosh teams are being successful. The shortcomings can be worked on. The future looks bright!!

"FUNDAMENTALS" And the coach should check the MFL program out and tell the MFL coaches what he wants.this is where it starts.

GAHS continues to improve in this game but will fall a little short once again. Portsmouth wins 28-20.

"GAHS is a public school, whether most of our followers want to admit it or not? WE ARE A public school not a program!" Please Define program????? Kind of makes me sad that the blame is now being placed on the MLF coaches..... Who will get the blame next week????? :-D

Know blame on the MFL or Coaches thats just where it starts! some other areas start younger.

I worked for many years in Newark. IMO Newark Catholic is the school to look at to figure out what a 'program' is. Many in that area don't like them at all. Most of that is because of their success. They have won more state playoff games then anyother school in the state. If you are in that area for very long, you learn the following things:

The players buy in to the 'program'
The adminstration buys in to the 'program'
The parents buy in to the 'program'
The fans buy in to the 'program'
The student body buys in to the 'program'
The youth want to be a part of the 'program' from an early age

Quite simply it takes everyone to build a successful high school football 'program'.

Maybe they just can't tackle. The fundamentals were taught in previous yrs. also just like with school work some just not good at it. Yhese kids are improving but not enough to win with this schedule. You see some things that make you scratch your head and wonder what is it that the coaches are seeing. One instance you have a qb throw a 40 yd pass and it is dropped so u change qbs. this was a td toss. we was on 30 yd line driving started subbing off. line out. Will support these kids forever.

Newark Catholic is a great example.... I have attended the State Finals many times and have seen them play... It would be a great example to follow but I do not believe it is possible at GAHS.. Private schools have a great advantage over Public schools in many areas & sports is one of them... Everyone wants to talk about the program....We were SEOAL champs in 2002 & 2003.. What did we do different back then????? Coach Saunders had a great record at GAHS.... What did he do that we are not doing now?????

IMHO Wheelersburg is the best public school PROGRAM in the area.
They have not had many down years in the past 30 or so. They compete with schools a couple divisions above them and they are a main stay in the playoffs.
They start young every kid lives to play for the Pirates,Everyone from supreintendant to fans are on the same page. It's all about Pirate Football. They make huge revenue from the gate and the whole school profits.

Thanks for all the comments, now back to the game... here is a quote that sticks out about our season so far...."We have meet the enemy; and he is us." If we can play a rock solid game, that is no fumbles, dropped passes, or mental mistakes, we can win... We need to score early and not be in a panick mode the second half....

As I stated in an earlier post GAHS must play four quarters to post a win, so far this year they have been unable to compete for four quarters.

I believe the biggest advatage a private school has over public schools is they are much more disciplined. The administration and parents accept/expect discipline in their school. Parents who are willing to pay tuition for their children probably have higher expectations for them, in the class room and on the athletic field.

My son plays football for gahs and there is only one person with higher expectations for him than me and that is himself after everygame this year he has said "what can I do to help us win " some of our performances he is not proud of but come thurs he is always upbeat and ready for friday night We have played a monster schedule that we knew from the start would be tough we may not have won but we are a better team and getting better each week this may not be our year---------- but maybe next? who knows

MMD, I absolutely do not doubt anything you said here. I also believe there is a much higher percentage of parents who have those expectations in a private school.

GAHS again did not play well for four quarters. They play well enough to win at times but do not sustain it. The tackling was much better, kudos to the coaching staff.
