The great thing about this game is that it now means more than just a trophy!!!! I can't wait until Friday night. This has been a long time coming. I am so happy for the players and fans of Athens!!
With this game moving to week 10 next year it will be even better!!!!!

The bucks win 30-28!!!

I hope that both teams have a great week of practice and stay injury free!!!!!!!!!

Lets get one thing straight, can't really talk for the AD but it was not his decision. He would rather play places like Zanesville, Chillicothe and Logan. He would have had Athens playing anyone with a "name" for publicity. It was the Superintendent, Business Manager and Principal that made that decision. AND the TVC unanimously voted to accept Athens into the league. I think you are beating a dead horse with this topic. Move on people.

After looking at the computer points. This is a must win for bot teams to have a chance to play in week 11.I think if Athens wins they might just sneak in to the 8th spot ,provided they dont have a let down after Nelsonville and win out.
I think that Nelsonville is in a much tougher spot. The playoffs begin this week for them .The Buckeyes must win this friday to get in . They will not beat Ironton in week 9 @ Ironton . The Tigers are just too good this year. Then week 10 they have a Vinton County team that at best will have 1 win.
This game is going to be a good one to watch!
Good Luck to both teams and Good Health to all involved.

I saw where athens is 9th in their region. this will be a big points win for the bulldogs. I know this is looking ahead but if athens beats Wahama will they get the second lvl points from them. Whama plays 6 ohio teams.

If nelsonville wins, they'll see week 11.
Regardless how bad they get beat next week, Beating a undefeated D2 will be a tremendous jump in computer points. Playoffs do start for nelsonville this week, week 9 will be a good game to get them ready for the post season. It'll be ugly, but they will only benefit from it
If athens wins, they still might not see week 11 . . thats just how competitive region 7 is.
A rooting for nelsonville, but would love to see logan host athens week 11 ! !

The extended weather forecast is calling for rain late in the week. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think the majority of the Buckeyes ever played in conditions like they did at Alex last week against an opponent of Alex's caliber. Both the O and D lines looked passive in their play Friday and it cost them the game. So, I think the Buckeye coaches should flood the outfield portion of the Baseball field and have the kids get after it! The Marching Band uses the Baseball field more than anybody else plus the condition of the outfield is just sad!!! What's to lose????

GO BUCKS!!!

i think if athens played logan in week 11, they would come out with a moral victory, by which i mean they would lose 21-7.

i think athens will win 22-14... nelsonville will be on the athens 2 yard line with first and goal and the next play they'll throw an interception into the end zone that gets returned 103 yards to the nelsonville half yard line with less than 5 minutes left to play.

Its a great call if it works, a bad call if what happens happens. It was first down, and Tope had been pounding it up the middle. Anyway, that is old news.

Bulldogs win this week. Too big up front and too many weapons on offense and special teams. Best wishes to both teams for an injury free contest.

I normally gotta pull for the Buckeyes in this battle..but with everything that Athens has on the line..I think I'm gonna pull for them..I would like to see them make the playoffs..but in the end...I still think NY will be too much for the Bulldogs. Good luck to both teams.

The biggest worry is for Nelsonville-York to have an 'Alexander' type reaction to the loss last Friday.

The Spartans gained from the loss to Athens and then played inspired 'care free' football the following week and beat the 'Bucks .... The same scenerio could easily play out this week, the only difference though, the game is AT ATHENS ... The Spartans got to rally around their community and were in the confines of their own house ... the Buckeyes on the other hand have to travel into hostile territory for the second consecutive week.

I have to say, wow, I agree with 93 Bulldog. lol And I usually root for the little guy (Nelsonville in this case), but I'm hoping for a mathematical miracle. I'd like to see Athens @ Logan in the first round of the playoffs. For Athens to get even a sniff they must go 10-0 and hope for some key losses by teams above them. They should really be rooting for Dover and a few others right now.
I'll be on the trek to Warren, but may take my radio and try to listen for this game during breaks.
Judging from common opponents it looks that Athens is about 10 points better depending on which games I weigh most heavily. Since both teams prefer to run, I'll predict a relatively low 27-14 outcome. (I know that's not 10!)
Sorry Buckeyes, it's just not your year. Athens is playing with more confidence than they have had since around '03.
If Nelsonville does win this, you should slide into the playoffs in R-19. Good luck to both. I can see one heck-of-a ball game being played either way. Who wants it more?!

Wow, This should be a great Game. Knowing NY coaching staff they will have the Buckeyes Ready to play, but after seeing both teams play I would have to say
this ,NY better be ready for some speed Athens has plenty. NY has not seen anyone
this year that throws the ball like Athens. So

Athens 34
NY 14
