Going through the rumor mill that Gallia will be joining Portsmouth in MS OVC play as well with a possible move into the HS OVC.....
New OVC 3/4 years away????????
Fairland-4...maybe 3 by then
Chesapeake-4
Coal Grove-5
South Point-4...maybe a 5 by then
Rock Hill-5
Portsmouth-4...maybe down to 5 also
Gallia-3...could slide to 4
If this would be true then the OVC would need 1 more team to have an 8 team league to make scheduling easier....if no other team was to be added then scheduling would be a little bit more difficult. If it did come down to adding only one of Gallia or Portsmouth, I have heard that it would be Gallia.

Re: Portsmouth trojans and the s.o.c
I would love to see Portsmouth added to the SOC II conference. I would also like to see Northwest dropped to SOC I. I think it makes more sense and I think it would be better for the kids. I think these decisions should be made with the kids in mind and not adults wanting to build trophy cases!!!
These are just dreams and never will come true!!!

------------------------------in my opinion, it makes no sense to drop northwest to the lower division, much bigger than the smaller schools. they just need to be more competitive.westside_rebel wrote:I would love to see Portsmouth added to the SOC II conference. Northwest is not and I don't believe they ever will be competitive on the SOC II level in football. They are, however, always competitive against the likes of Sciotoville East, Symmes Valley, Green, Notre Dame...need I say more? I think it would be good for their kids to be apart of a Conference Championship Football team. And back to the topic...Portsmouth playing in the SOC II would bring good money to the gates. West and PHS always brings a crowd as does Burg and PHS. I think it's good for the kids, communities and the schools! The same goes for all other sports as well. Also with the rising cost of everything, I think it makes practical sense to play a school that is less than 20 minutes away! I for one don't like to travel too far these days due to gas cost and my work schedule.
