A large contengent of faithful Athens Bulldog supporters will be making the short drive to the Reservation to support our old rivals the Logan Chieftians. Good luck Chiefs we hope you go deep in the playoffs.

For everyone that thinks this will be a blow-out, just show up for the game and you will see that Canal is no joke. They may get beat but they will not get out coached. Coach Mauro was at Lancaster years ago, moved on to Massillon Jackson then came back here a couple years ago and has rebuilt a program that was very good years ago to a perennial playoff participant.

I agree this game will not be a blow out.
Canal is making their 3rd straight playoff appearance with a group of seniors that have been KEY players since they were sophomores.
They are battle tested, well coached, and will be ready to compete.

Following is part of an article in the Monday Lancaster Eagle Gazette.
The last paragraph is very telling.
As I have said before, some are glad to be there, some are there to win.
You must have the proper mental outlook to make a deep run.
Amanda-Clearcreek, which locked up a Division IV playoff home game two weeks ago, will face Albany Alexander (9-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Aces capped an undefeated season with a 66-14 win against Bloom-Carroll last week, but did so after losing leading rusher Garren Dilley to a broken leg.
"Our kids were going through so many emotions when that happened," Aces coach Ron Hinton said. "It's just a really tough situation."
The good news for the Aces is they're back in the playoffs after missing out in consecutive years.
"It feels like we're back home again," Hinton said. "It's exciting to get in. But we have to be careful about the emotions and look at it not as one game, but a five-game tournament."

Re: D2 - Region 7: (#7) Canal Winchester at (#2) Logan
I'll be relaxing Friday, watching the game on TV as I get STO. BTW, Mauro ran from Massillon Jackson after not being very successful. Canal is as much a product of a weak league & schedule. Logan played & beat playoff teams D-I Lancaster, D-I Pick North & D-IV Ironton. Winning by 20 or more won't surprise me. I don't think Canal can run on Logan.
Go Chiefs !!

cw isnt gonna roll over and play dead.chilli played them last year and it was a defensive game.we pulled it out in the fourth quarter and won
what im saying is just because their seeded 7th doesnt mean they cant play.
so represent the seoal good luck and all that stuff.
lets see if the mighty chieftains are worth their salt were it really counts.

Re: D2 - Region 7: (#7) Canal Winchester at (#2) Logan
I believe Canal Winchester is making their 5th Playoff Appearance.
Canal previously qualified in 1984, '88, 2007, '08, and now '09.
I believe the Indians are 1-4 all-time.
Since Phil Mauro took over as head coach in 2007, the Indians have a 26-7 record.

Re: D2 - Region 7: (#7) Canal Winchester at (#2) Logan
Just about all the "experts" are picking Logan and I have to agree with them....
That said, I think this could be a better 2 vs 7 matchup than what you may typically get. This Senior class at Logan has had a lot of success at every level. I am sure they would love to cap off their career with a deep playoff run.
I am anxious to see this game and hopefully it leads to a Logan vs Louisville Regional Final (That should be an EXCELLENT game).

I think this will be a fairly decent game. Better than the last couple weeks at Logan
Logan is going to come out and start attacking and score majority of their points early while Canal i think just trys to stay in the game
Logan 31
Canal Winchester 21

One thing for sure, the starters are going to play longer. Logan has home field advantage. I doubt CW can stop the Logan style offense. Logan's defense has improved all year and I think the team is healthy.

i like logan in this one. logans weakness is stopping the run but that was against pick north. i am sure or hope they have worked that out and go on a long run thru the playoffs
Re: D2 - Region 7: (#7) Canal Winchester at (#2) Logan
This Friday Gridiron Glory is broadcasting its first ever playoff preview show at 6 pm. The show will be broadcast live from Logan Chieftain Stadium, so come and be part of the live production!
Re: D2 - Region 7: (#7) Canal Winchester at (#2) Logan
I think this is gonna be a great matchup! CW has put up some good numbers against some teams..so I don't think I'd be taking them too lightly. I suspect..and hope..this one will be a great game with the Chiefs coming out on top by..I'll say..10? The only common opponents we have is Hammy..and CW won 43-0..while Logan won 49-7. Don't know anything about them though except for what has been said on the thread. What kind of size does the Indians have up front?

The defense is light years ahead of what it was in week two. Pick N. caught them while still a work in progress. Ironton exploited some glitches for a while but experience and adjustments have made a huge difference. I can assure you it will be very difficult to run on Logan now.
