Re: D5 - R19: (5) Wheelersburg vs. (1) Fredericktown
I also noticed in the Burg/MC game that MC spent a lot of time in warmups before the game doing all kinds of running drills, stretches, and other excercises while the Burg didn't do much at all. I commented to the guy sitting in front of me that their coach was going to wear them out before the game even started. I don't know if it had any effect on them or not, but they were sure sucking wind in the 4th quarter while the Burg seemed to still be pretty fresh.
What do you think SD?

I heard that some of the MC fans were saying on the puddle things like, well Burg only won cause our guys got tired towards the end of the game and Burg had a OFF and a DEF team. So they were more rested!
First of all condition better and don't make excuses!
Second, Burg has players that play on both sides of the ball.
There isn't a special DEF team that doesn't consist of any OFF players on it.
Face it Burg just flat out was more athletic and beat them down all 4 Quarters.
Now keep that agression going this week!

Neutron - I might argue the point that the Burg was more athletic at the skill positions. I'll leave it at that on this particular point.
BG77 - As for the stretching and pregame workout, that has been a normal routine for the team for at least 7 or 8 years, and seems to work pretty well, for the most part.
As for the cramping last night, again, I attibute that to MC not having to play their starters entire games except for two games, as well as a trainer/nutritionist who screwed up. How 'bout two sides of ham and a double block of salt lick for the team?
Kind of sounds like that may have been part of the problem, but that is my opinion, and unsubstantiated. Frankly, just may be hearsay, and nothing but a bunch of crap. Who knows?!?!

And we were on the 7 and fumbled it would have been 59-42. We were just the better team. But they had a great game and season.

SD if you take Tim Tebow off their team they are just good.
That QB made them look good. He did have some Awesome passes that wasn't caught. The only major plays was either by the QB or created by the QB.
Athletically I think Burg was better. They did rotate more players in and was able to contribute all around. Plus not wearing out late in the game tells a story alone!

Did you know that Hollywood actor Luke Perry once was the Fredericktown mascot, the "Freddy?" The Freddy is a cardinal I believe.

1). There will be no games in Athens this year, as Ohio University could not work hosting into their schedule.
2). Some of you are forgetting all the games Spartan Stadium used to hold in the Regional Final and even Semi Finals, when teams would travel two + hours to play Burg and Ironton.
3). Regions are drawn up with equal number of teams, if people would live and schools were built in equal and perfect distribution then and only then could you have true Geographical distribution.

If this is true then the only thing I can say is thank god it's bit lancaster
Re: D5 - R19: (5) Wheelersburg vs. (1) Fredericktown
If this is true. Could someone post some pictures of Nelsonville's field if anybody has any. I hope this is true so we will be playing on turf, anything but Lancaster, but if that is where it is we'll be going along with all the rest of the PIRATE faithfull.

This is all I could find as far as clear pictures go. I know it doesn't give much of a view of the stands, but I'm sure someone else can find more.

Thanks Orestes for the picture that is a beautiful stadium. Hopefully someone will post some pics of the stands.

I don't understand this decision. Nothing against NY stadium as I'm sure it's a nice facility, but why make both of these schools fans drive out through Gods country into the middle of nowhere when this could have been played in the Columbus area and fans could have driven on good highways in Rt 23 and Rt 71 to get to the game.
The OHSAA never fails to amaze me.
