Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
I seen a lot people like Burgs. I don't care for it at all bad visiting seats and no parking.
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
The only thing I dislike about Burg is that annoying cannon lolGame day wrote:I seen a lot people like Burgs. I don't care for it at all bad visiting seats and no parking.

If you have not been to Chillicothe this year then you haven't seen the 300k in upgrades made just a few months ago...and we are still not done!
This is the premier venue in southern ohio and when it is done it will be a unanimous number 1....of course I am bias!
...but seriously though...hands down #1 in 2 years.

West is my least fav because the stands seem so far back . Seems like the opposing sides are 1/2 mile apart. East is just bad in all areas .
Valley and PHS are great , Burg is super , and I love Sat nights at Spartan Stadium .

FWIW I've never had parking issues at Burg.. And i usually attend only the " bigger" games . Maybe its I dont mind walking a short distance , even up the hill . That could be an issue for lots of folks .

East might be the worst but also is probably the oldest. If I am not mistaken, they were using their field pre-World War One.
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
West has a nice facility but I've been saying the same thing for years. The stands are so far from the field I feel like I need binoculars. LOL Just one more reason I like Valley's stadium so much.ManitouDan2 wrote:West is my least fav because the stands seem so far back . Seems like the opposing sides are 1/2 mile apart. Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
It probably doesn't rank as the best facility anywhere, but Fort Frye's home stands are on a bank above the field so that even the bottom row of bleachers has a good viewing angle. I can hardly stand to watch games anywhere else.

Visitor side does suck.. however there is a ton of parking where the old school use to be...Game day wrote:I seen a lot people like Burgs. I don't care for it at all bad visiting seats and no parking.

We stood on the fence at the Burg Ironton playoff game last year and had a great view from the visitors side.BurgGrad6 wrote:Visitor side does suck.. however there is a ton of parking where the old school use to be...Game day wrote:I seen a lot people like Burgs. 4. Chesapeake
5. Ironton (I don't care about the history, it's getting rundown)
6. Coal Grove
7. Gallia
8. Fairland
Agree with Portsmouth being the top field. Absolutely beautiful setting and really enjoyable atmosphere. Although I have never been to Fairland's field, I would find it hard to believe it is worse than GA's stadium. Memorial Field is a sad place. Visiting locker rooms are embarrassing. Playing surface is embarrassing. I'm told even the home locker rooms are sad.
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
You better believe it. Field is a mud hole, getting to the visitor side is hardly handicap accessible because you usually have to walk through grass to get on the other side. Hardly any seating, trailer park feet away from the field. The Burgites can attest to this since they played there recently.Fonzie wrote:bbn77 wrote:OVC Best Stadiums

Best
Jackson - No track great food and ppl.
Logan - Lots of room, great food and ppl. Bad-has a track around it.
Hamilton twp - Good seating & Good parking.
Meigs & Nelsonville - Great little stadiums. Food and ppl are was awesome. Small and very low visitor seating.
You have to put Portsmouth and Ironton in there just for the history alone.
Worst
Trimble - No seating or parking needs updated.
Miller - No seating needs updated.
Cambridge - No seating
Lancaster No parking. Well, there is a mile away from the stadium.......

Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
The most Pathetic and Dirty DUMP anywhere is Memorial Field in Gallipolis. Not even close. How they have been allowed to have games there through the years considering the filth is amazing..
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
The two grand ladies of the SE are Spartan Stadium and Tanks Memorial stadium. These stadiums were erected back when they made things to last. I wish they still had games at Spartan Stadium. I have seen many great football games there over the years and even played there with the '78 Tigers.
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
Re: Best and Worst Stadiums in Southeastern Ohio
1. Lucasville Valley
Concession on both sides, newer facility, turf, brick, PA, nice scoreboards.
2. Portsmouth
One side concession puts them second to valley but really close.
3. Coal Grove
Plenty of seating, parking, quality PA system, turf, cannon
4.Chesapeake
Too tight. Parking & seating. Nice place other than that.
5. Rock Hill
New turf, unique experience.
6. Ironton
Needs updated, especially visitor side
7. Oak Hill
Nice updated venue with turf.
8. South Point
Nice place, not a football atmosphere at all.
9. Portsmouth West
Too far away, grass field, couldn't hear anything on PA system
10. River Valley
Pretty plain, not good, not bad.
11. Symmes Valley
Grass field, small away bleachers
12. Meigs
Away bleachers are so bad I sat on the home side.
13. Northwest
One set of bleachers? Pretty hard to believe.
14. Galipolis
To be fair, I haven't been there since 1999 but based off what I've heard and know about Fairland, it's not last.
15. Fairland
Pretty bad and considering their resources, you would think it could be a nice place.
Just what I've been to.
