Jackson 63 Meigs 7
Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
Here is my thoughts and I know a few of my fan favorites will have plenty to say, in which I am not going to play your game and argue. It's my own opinion just like everyone else has one.
I think Meigs has no identity, Every team we have faced this year knew that our linebackers were depleted, not only our #1 Linebacker is out so is our #2. This makes running on us easy. Our linebackers sizes are as follows 6'0 160lbs, 5'6 140lbs, and 6'1 190lbs. So lack of size and experience at that position hurts and it has allowed our Secondary to easily lead the team in tackles. (and yes we aren't great tacklers)
Athens exposed our passing defense, or should say lack of...Before Athens game,we were giving up 40 yards a game in the air, had one bad game against VC....Athens Coaching took notice that our Secondary always have to have their eyes in the backfield, because they usually have to come up and make the tackle. Result was almost 400 yards passing and 4 Touchdowns, and these were wide open Receivers.
I am in NO WAY cutting down any kids or any Coaching, this is just what we have had to struggle with because of injuries. Losing 4 year starters hurts. Our Offense has been doing what is needed, we just have to figure something out on Defense.
Jackson can do Both, Run and Pass...I should say I'm gonna pick Jackson...But I can't take my rose colored glasses of and hope that my Meigs Marauders will get things together and play with heart and come up with a Win.
I will not argue, I am not putting ANY ONE down...It's my OPINION...I am no Coach, I just go by what I SEE.

I don't know about standing by your team until the end??? I've been a Dolphins fan my entire life, but I'm about to jump ship. I miss me some Dan Marino. Maybe I'll root for the Colts now, bc if I root for the clowns or bungals, I'll live my whole life without experiencing the thrill of an NFL championship!!!!

Oh, almost forgot!
Don't get caught looking ahead ironmen!
#trapgame
if you play like you did last week, you'll be just fine!
Need to clean up the turnovers too

Curious to what type of lesson you would like this week? I usually try stay away from most Meigs post until someone starts bashing kids or coaches.Fonzie wrote:I will admit it is odd not to have Mattox or Meyer on here posting all their wise information.

Winton Woods beats D1 Elder tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. They will travel to Jackson next week very motivated.
Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
Let's put this in perspective for everyone. Winton Woods just beat Elder 26-14. Elder is 5-3, playing an extremely difficult schedule loaded with D1 perennial powerhouses. One of those five wins is over the two-time defending D1 State Champ, Lakewood St. Edward. Wow.doubleplay643 wrote:Poo Bear wrote:Jackson wins 63-7

Great performance by the Ironmen tonight. They kept their playoff hopes alive, but Sheridan's win over Tri-Valley may have done a lot of damage to those hopes. I'm planning to crunch some numbers tomorrow, so I'll hopefully be able to post a breakdown of Jackson's playoff chances/scenarios sometime soon. Winton Woods is gonna be quite the challenge, but I'm sure the Ironmen will be looking forward to testing themselves against a high quality opponent.

Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
Was this one really 42-0 in the 1st Qtr? Holy Smokes! How does that happen? Turnovers?
Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
No, it was 28-0 after 1st....Jackson held a 42-0 lead over Meigs with 8:29 remaining in the first half.
They ran for 473 yards and threw for 104 yards.
For the 3rd time I think Meigs will allow the player of the week award with Hall running 10 carries for 181 yards and 8-12 for 104 yards with 3 Touchdowns
Meigs lost 2 players in 1st quarter that didn't return and another in the 4th.
I will say this, I loved the Football atmosphere at Jackson, I had never seen the football field and I was impressed. I got there 15 minutes before kickoff and parking wasn't far away at all. And one thing you don't see very often at high school level is nets on the field for field goals and also I noticed Jackson had a kicking net that the kicker was kicking into. I didn't realize how serious Jackson took their football.
I'm not upset that we got hammered, we aren't playing very good football, I think our hearts left us after the Vinton County loss and we can't get life back other then the first half versus River Valley.
I am hoping that the next 2 games we can pull off, not to go 5-5 on the season, but for our Seniors to end their season on winning notes.

Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
How does Meigs score what 7 times against Athens last week and then the very next week hardly get on the board against Jackson?
Jekyll and Hyde?
Jekyll and Hyde?
Re: WK8 Meigs (3-4) @ Jackson (5-2)
I really think Jackson is finding itself after losing so many kids. They seems to be clicking on both sides of the football. I think If they played Athens the result would be similar. But it's hard to tell since Jackson hasn't beat anyone with a winning record . This game wasn't really competitive . I would like to see a Nelsonville - Jackson game just for fun.
