Waverly Tigers 2010
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Whats the schedule look like for the Waverly Tigers? Predictions on record and which games will be wins and which games will be losses?
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
U heard right son, no Kr3tz3r this year or next. Jake has committed to basketball 100%. There is gonna be alot of talk and blame but the thing is here everyone should be happy for Jake and his decisions.theking14 wrote:Well, first day of two-a-days. Any news? Ive heard from multiple people that Jake Kretzer isnt playing, any truth to this?

Jake is a great kid and he should do what he thinks is best for him- to be honest with you, there are several kids who I think the team was counting on playing that are not and I am shocked that this hasn't been a bigger issue than what it has. There seems to be little or no talk about who is not playing and more of a sense of "This is what we have, now lets go show everyone that we are going to be much better than what everyone expects!" Sometimes, things like a few players not playing pulls the rest of the squad together and makes them bond better.
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
I hope everyone is indeed happy for Jake, he's a great kid and a fine athlete. I did say athlete, he was/is getting looks at the next level in football as well. The kid is a gifted "athlete" and we should honor and respect his decisions.
It does really hurt schools around here though when your best athletes don't play a sport they are exceptional at. Jake not playing football, as well as a few others, will hurt badly. A school this size cannot afford kids not playing but if they are not 100% soled out to it I guess they shouldn't play.
It is going to be fun to watch Jake on the basketball court the next two years. I think Harrison Martin is concentrating on basketball right now as well. Heard he was not playing soccer this year.

Tiger Fans, Thanks for supporting Jake! An agonizing decision on his part that was brought-on by a mild concussion he suffered playing AAU basketball in Orlando. Jake missed 3 games due to this concussion; his second one in a year. Moreover, playing AAU basketball both "with and against the best talent in the nation" has allowed Jake to analyze his own abilities. Jake realizes his potential and his weaknesses. With the desire to earn a basketball scholarship and play at the next level he knows that 100% dedication to the classroom and to basketball skill development will make his dream possible.
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Tough blow for the Tigers but this should not come as a surprise to anyone. Hopefully he gets the concussion stuff taken care of but young kids and PARENTS place too much emphasis on scholarships especially at schools this size.

Well since he actually has DI offers on the table I would say a scholarship is definately an emphasis here.
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Looking forward to seeing the Tigers Saturday morning in the scrimmage against Zane Trace.

Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Okay a few things I saw.
The Waverly defense was very good at times and it was also not so good at times. But I think you have to expect that. Should know alot more about the defense after Friday night. The offense was something very strange to anyone that has watched Waverly football lately. We ran the ball a lot more, I have heard that is due to the new Off coordinator, IDK if that is true or not. Almost every play the QB was under center also something new. I never take much from scrimmages, but those were my thoughts.

Waverly played fine- they are so young- however, the defense is ahead of offense which is prob normal. They play again this Friday night at Circleville.

Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Does anyone know if this will be more like a real game- instead of 10 plays and etc...
Re: Waverly Tigers 2010
Waverly is young and inexperienced and will be a work in progress. The 2010 version of the Waverly Tigers will look much different than the past few years. Some of the simple basics of football are being worked on so Tiger fans will have to be patient. I think the o-line will come along as the year progresses with young guys gaining valuable experience. With depth an issue and numbers way down the Tigers need to stay healthy. The Tigers have some nice athletes, the question is which ones will step up.
