Does Burg have a new coach calling the plays this season or is it the same as last?

Philthyphil...............We could not even hear the Pirate band or the Ironton band. Ironton has a super nice band and a large band and we could not even hear them.

It's over...........past and gone! Good Luck!

The last time West played at Ironton their were some punks on our side hollering at the players and stuff. It very easily could've turned into a bad situation.

But Wheelersburg has no reason to complain. They sit all-over the visitors side and are very obnoxious.

HeHe, Funny!!! I knew I would start they do we do stuff, lol. And that is my point exatly, a person should be able to go to either side without being stopped with a Guard. We do not care who walks on Burg home side, we do not have a guard saying you can not go past this rope...lol. This is my last post, I know there are smart mouths from all schoolls, and no one can say their aren't. But as I said once and will say again Ironton is the only school ever to stop visitors from walking on their side!!!!! NO WHERE DID I SAY BURG DONE NOTHING THAT PEOPLE DON"T LIKE!!!
We all have our big mouths and that is a fact! And we can sit anywhere at our school and so can visitors, FACT! The hill is not your bleachers!
while i dont know the specifics of "the rope" rule, i know that side of the stadium is the student section at ironton. you have a ton of students and kids that are maybe a year or removed from high school. every year there are high school kids and older kids that want to come across to the other teams side and wear their school colors and inevitably words are exchanged and trouble begins. by keeping the gate closed on that end i am sure it eliminates a lot of potential trouble and problems and fights in that section of the stadium. i know that on the other side you can freely move from the visiting side to home side. pirate fan, i agree that it would be nice if the individual that was responsible could sympathize with your situation and make a decision that you were simply taking your 2 1/2 year old daughter to the restroom and make and exception. thats probably what should have happend, however i am sure that had they let you thru there would have been 25 people behind you with their own reason as to why they should be allowed thru as well. it kinda unfair to say that the people of ironton are terrible hosts, etc etc. when you dont know their specific reasons as to why this rule was enacted i am sure they can give you numerous reasons and i would bet none of them are designed just because we want to screw over the visiting team and fans because we dont want you mixing with our "royalty"
Don't quote me because I could be wrong (I have been before) but I think it might have something to do with the fact that that side is where the band is. Because as victor said the other end of the field is open and you can move freely to the other side of the field. Just a thought. :122248

Siderman West at Ironton game you are refering to a junior high game about 2-3 yrs ago? If so the reason those "punks" as you call them were "hollering" is because I believe that is the game that the West fans were screaming about a certain Ironton player being too old to play junior high because of his size. They were saying some pretty nasty things about and to this kid and the "punks" were taking up for him.

Bear in mind that this kind of stuff happens everywhere and by every school. Ironton is not the ONLY school to have ignorant people.

No, it was Varsity. 2004 I think. Long time ago but I've been to several Ironton games. Always the same. They have a large home side. No reason to be on the visitors side behaving like that.

In my opinion it is one of the worst places to play. We could not even hear the Pirate band or the Ironton band from where we were sitting. I encountered several instances where the Pirates were not very welcome and/disrespected.

There was several Ironton fans sitting on the visiting side in the middle of Pirate fans. One guy had a bell that was on a long handle and stood up and rang the bell whenever Ironton scored or made a good play. What do you think would happen to a Pirate fan if they came over to the Tiger side and did the same thing? I was sitting behind some of my family as there was not room in the row they were sitting in. A lady from Ironton had the nerve to ask me to move down so that three of her family members could sit there. I first said no.........they can sit on the other side of me, but to be nice I said that I would move down. As we left the game, there were some Ironton tailgaters wasted and they were throwing around the F word and any other curse word you can think of. I had my two young grandson's with me and there were very young girls in the company of that party. My grandson's said look how stupid they are acting.

The Pirates handled themselves well in defeat! The cheerblock for the Pirates were there to the end. I know some fans from both sides had left before the Burg scores both of there touchdowns. The Pirates will rebound!

Good Luck the rest of the season Tigers! Good Luck to the Pirates!

Where have you been I have never went to a Wheelersburg home game that Wheelerburgs fans were not sitting on the vistors side with their rocks in their jugs.

I'm pretty sure that isn't true because the jugs are only passed out on the home side during the home games. I don't think I've ever seen anyone shaking jugs over there (well, there was that one time and they asked her to leave)

I've never understood why someone would want to sit in the opposing teams bleachers. To me it is asking for trouble. If I would have to sit in the other sides bleachers, I sure as hades wouldn't scream and holler for the team I'm rooting for and draw attention to myself.

As for the hill at the Burg. IMO, the only spot slotted for the visitors is the bleachers. The hill is open to anyone on a first come, first serve basis. I remember the year that Burg played Kenton. Somehow some of there fans got into the stadium earlier that day and lined up chairs all the way across the top of the hill. Burg fans just stood behind and there was no trouble.

Like I said before there are ignorant people at every school. Just like the time I went to a West playoff game to root for West and sat in a seat and then had the Sherriff called on me because a season ticket holder said that that was their seat. The thing is OSHAA says that you can't do that. Playoff game seating is first come first serve. You can't save seats and the season ticket holders can't have their's either. I know this because I have been an Ironton season ticket holder for the last 35 yrs and have never been able to save my season seats for a playoff game. I had to go early and wait in line like everyone else. Pretty sad to make people who are their to support your team move and even have the Sherriff come.

I also have been a season ticket holder for quite a few years; and indeed, as far as I know, Ironton has never had any reserved seats for playoff games at Tanks stadium. I don't know what the situation was at West; regardless, it would seem that everything could have been resolved in a less drastic fashion.

However, it is a misconception that there can never be any reserved seats at any playoff game. The OHSAA 2011 Boys Football Tournament Regulations, in Section 5 Item 3, state

"3. Reserved Sections
The game manager has the option of providing reserved seats if it is believed there is sufficient need.
If seats are reserved, the schools shall be notified in advance. There is no adjustment in ticket prices."

The complete document can be found on the OHSAA web site

I've seen every Ironton at Burg game and at least twice there have not only been jugs on the visitors' side, but there were what appeared to be well-organized groups of juggers.
