Trevon Pendleton Update
Re: Trevon Pendleton Update
Absolutely heart-breaking! I know Trevon will work hard and overcome this and get back on the field, but when you see any senior have a season-ending injury, it just really gives you that lump in the throat. Work hard buddy, and as everybody has said, bust your tail in therapy and you'll be back with that same wonderful burst!

Misteroby wrote:Trevon, I hope this will help encourage you...In 1964, at age 16, I sustained a compound FX of the metatarsal behind my L big toe, and a ruptured Achilles tendon from landing wrong on a springboard. I was operated on in Christ Hospital, Cincy; hadta have 3 surgeries. I was in a cast upta my hip for 9 months.(The cast was changed every 6 weex.) I could not place weight on my L foot at all.(Try "using the john" with one leg stuck straight out!)
When the cast came off for good, ny L calf was hardly as big around as my forearm & I could hardly move my ankle or toes. But I did all the physical therapy I was allowed, and became almost fanatical in my quest to become as well as possible. My Drs. told me how much of what I could do to not overdo it, and I did every minute of it! It HURT to stretch those long-unused muscles & tendons, but I knew I HAD to do it to recover as much as possible.
The injury happened in July between my frosh & soph years of HS, and in Spring of '65 I pitched baseball in Senior League & managed to bat in the .350s despite my not being able to run fast. By the enda summer I could walk without a limp! To keep a long story short, I played football & baseball my Jr. & Sr. years without any complications & to my full ability. BUT I HAD TO WORK HARD IN THERAPY & IN THE WEIGHT ROOM TO GET THERE! I am now 62 years old, with no prob from that injury except some occasional pain at the site of the FX, & my not being able to move my L big toe down completely dueta the tendon being shortened.(I still have the screws in my metatarsal; the Drs. saw no sense in cutting on me again to remove'em since they cause no prob.)
YOU have the advantage of some 46 years of technology since my injury occurred; hopefully you'll be able to bend your knee. My cast weighed some 60 lb; added to my 215 lb. weight, I was trucking a load around on crutches. Hopefully, you'll have an "air cast", effective but lightweight.
Walking on crutches takes practice, but an athlete like you should quickly master it. Jues be careful stepping DOWN from anything, steps, curbs, etc.
With today's technology, you should be able to make a full recovery! You have the thoughts & prayers of me & my family. Hopefully, this will mostly be a bad memory a year from now!
Awesome Post!!
Best wishes to you Mr. Pendleton! God gave you this gift once, He will give it back to you again through your faith and hard work!
Re: Trevon Pendleton Update
Glad the surgery went well. After he was tackled I think everybody thought it was his hip again. He tried to get up. Then when they signaled for the ambulance you knew how bad it was. Made me sick.
Just shows you how you need to value every second, cause you just never know what's going to happen. You don't want to see anybody get hurt like that, but a kid that's worked so hard and has a future like that. It just sucks.
As hard a worker as he is, I'm sure he'll do everything in his power to get back. Look forward to seeing #8 on a field again somewhere.
ps. I haven't looked at this site for since before the game so I never read them, but someone that would say negative things about a kid like that, not only needs permanetly removed from here, but also their butt kicked. That is awful.

Re: Trevon Pendleton Update
it would be a great tribute if this friday the last play the senators have the ball (as long as it isnt a close game) then let the team wheel trevon 42 yds and let him get his 1000 on the year. Got this idea from back when waverly let Jake Porter run his 50 yd touchdown in his last game as a Mentally Challenged football player that refused to ever miss a practice and was a motivation and inspired so many out there. Trevons done alot for his team, community and this county. He was a star athlete that..wait.. let me rephrase that he IS still a great athlete that has a really bright future ahead of him. But back to it it's just a suggestion and figured it would make this boy more determined and lighten his head up for his future.
Re: Trevon Pendleton Update
Trevon keep working hard and hang in there and all your dreams will come true. Stay focused and we all here in Jackson are behind you 100%. Best wishes and God Bless!!
