I guess to each his own opinion. I am just stating FACTS of what has already happened.

I didnt say that either of those teams would beat Ursuline this year, and my OPINION is that Ursuline, and every other private recruiting school should have their own playoff bracket.

Let me ask you one question. How do you think Region 15's top 8 would stack up against Region 16?

I am not going to travel down a path of hypothetical situations.

I will tell you that out of the top 8 in Region 15, they are 2-1 in their head to head matchups with Region 16 in the regular season. So I hope that answers your question.

I would avoid the question as well!!
I am noticing a trend here and it all has to deal with history. Who cares??? Talk about the present people. I would take all these teams over the Burg most years as well

Ursuline
Cuyahoga Heights
North Union
West Jefferson
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy
Anna
Coldwater
Country Day
Versailles
St Henry

So let's get real people. I don't know many teams in Southeast Ohio that would want a part of most of these teams. And I'm not knocking on your teams but it's just a fact, that Football up there is a different beast.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WE CAN DO THAT TOO, IRONTON WAS ELIMINATED IN THE 3RD ROUND IN OVERTIME LAST YEAR TO COSHOCTON. THIS IS OUR 28TH PLAYOFF APPEARENCE SINCE THE PLAYOFFS STARTED IN 1972. DO THE MATH, THATS NOT MISSING TOO MANY YEARS.

IRONTON PLAYS TEAMS SUCH AS THIS EVERY YEAR. AND NOT JUST 1 A YEAR EITHER.

it doesn't matter paldi knows that as long as you can go out and buy the best players you can dominate every year....shoot he usually donates his money to the schools just to uphold their winning tradition.

I am an Ironton fan, and I personally agree completely with the logic behind this question. I am one of the biggest Tiger supporters out there, but our region compared to Region 16 is, to be quite honest, incomparable. We need to just focus on winning our Region and then on to the others, and do the best we possibly can. Simple as that.

I wonder where Paladin ranks in all time wins?

Good picks, no doubt the best football is played Columbus and up along with Cincy. However, a lot of this is due to private schools growing in power and "knowing how to play the game off the field". I don't think the Catholic schools should have a different division, but no way should teams like the U be playing in division 5. This kind of BS really takes away from what HS athletics is supposed to be all about IMHO.

SE ohio schools may never be able to repeat thier accomplishments back in the days. Our population is down and all the jobs are going China. But for Mercer and others to pick this as a PRESENT DAY analogy may bite him in the butt. We are refiguring our EPA alotted air permits and we should get alot of manufacturing jobs here in scioto county. Would be a benefit to all counties around us. And the fact that the Aplant will get a loan guaruntee and 5000 jobs along with a Nuclear plant, WOW! Maybe we can stop the flood of Ohio ppl heading south to pud the Floridas and Texans football prowess like has been going on for the last 40 yrs. Maybe some of those Les Miles and Urban Myers will coach down here in Scioto and Pike counties! LOL. Things are looking up for SE ohio!!

I'm a neutral observer in all this madness but I will tell you one thing, I've been to the state championships in Canton/Massillon 5 or 6 times in the past 8 years and I've only seen one team from SE Ohio there and that was when Kenton dropped the bomb on Portsmouth West. I hate to admit it as much as anyone, but until teams down here start making noise in the playoffs and winning state titles in the PRESENT day, we will always be considered the "armpit" of the state......

Consider yourself the armpit all you want. I don't have a low self esteem and the old man can get his kicks up north all he wants. I could care less what a washed up person who got ran out of town thinks of me and my community. Most people would think Sri Lanka was realy great if that is the only place that would have them!

Thank You! That was the only thing I was trying to get across. I have been to 3 games at Ironton this year and enjoyed them very much. I know they are one of the most tradition rich programs in the state of Ohio but as I said before, that is the past, I am talking present. I mentioned that I was not knocking Ironton and I am not, they have a very nice football program, but nobody is being honest with themselves if they think right now that Ironton could do the same in Region 16 that they are doin in Region 15. No program in Southeast Ohio would survive that region. Although Ironton may be in a weak region, all can do is win it and I hope they do. If they go to Canton/Massilon and win the state title we will have something to talk about but just playoff appearances aren't everything and if you look at some of the elite programs they are disappointed if they do not win the title or come very close to it.

One other question, I am curious what the total record is between the Ironton vs DeSalles series they used to have. I have always wondered that. I always admired Ironton for being the only team around here that had the nads to schedule them.

I'm not sure of that. I would honestly like to hear it as well.

And I'm not sure we would be ranked the same in Region 16 and it would definitely be a MUCH harder road through the Region. Perfect example being a semi-final match-up between Alter And Jonathan Alder. That's just ridiculous.

fnf it will always be that way not because seo is the arm pit. but because the fat cats that let teams from up north buy the championships. lets call it like it is. if you don't think this is correct look at the basketball play offs its even worse. lets just put all the northern power houses in one play off and let them BUY i mean play for the championship......what a joke...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------heres what i got from ironton football dot com, all you do is click on seasons by opponents. columbus saint francis desales leads the series with ironton 9-2. but besides 1 -------40-0 game , these were always close games. many times with desales coming from behind to win.
the games
1972 ironton desales-score 7-0
1985 ironton desales-24-19 -playoff
1991 ironton desales -28-27-playoff 2 ot's
1994 ironton desales-13-0, playoff
1999 ironton desales-13-27
2000 ironton desales-28-21
2001 ironton desales-20-10
2002 ironton desales-21-14
2003 ironton desales-40-0
2004 ironton desales-17-14
2005 ironton desales-24-16.

unsure which 2 we won , but they were always close , hard fought games , except the blowout in 2003. i know we played them there one stretch like 3/4 years in a row, because they did not have enough home games.

I remember the playoff thrashing of GA against DeSalles at Hillsboro but I don't ever remember GA playing DeSalles in the regular season. When was this?

Late 80's and into the 90's I believe.
