...going to be sad to see the stadium go...i know it has to be done, but nothing can compare to going to the stadium the way it currently is...personally, Im still against the turf...theres just something appealing and historical about a natural grass field, its how Ed Miller Stadium should be...plus muddy games are always the most fun to watch ;-)

If it was only the 5 home football games played on the field each year, I would be more in favor of sticking with the grass, but that is not the case. There are JV games, freshman games, soccer games all played on the same field. If you walk up to the press box late in the season and look down at all the dead spots on the field, you would be surprised at how bad it is. During the home playoff game last year, the field crew tried to paint a skull and crossbones at midfield, but it ended up being painted on mostly just dirt. I have seen some case studies showing that turf actually saves money over its 10-15 year life by eliminating watering, cutting, painting, re-sodding and other expenses. When this happens, it could also allow jr. high games to be played at Ed Miller stadium and eliminate the cost of maintaining the current jr. high field as well.

This is true, and I did see the skull (which was pretty cool by the way), but I'm not sure, to me there is just something extra appealing about a natural grass field...I like the turf too, but for some reason it just doesnt seem to fit Ed Miller Stadium IMO

Just a thought I wonder what the injury ratio is compared to natural to turf ?

hmm...that is a good question...not really sure, but id say it is about the same...both can get pretty slick when wet, but dry turf provides much more traction than grass...this can bve a good or bad thing...sure it helps the kids run faster and cut harder, but at the same time if your getting hit mid-cut, on natural grass your foot is more likely to slip and you simply fall rather than on turf where it has more of a chance to stay planted and risk an ankle or knee injury...not really expert, but just how it seems IMO...

more season talk less turf talk :PPPPPPP

i think that the ol burg is gonna have to change up there style alot , basically go back to the basics because of the amount of starters they lost. IMO alot is gonna depend on camp and those first two scrimmages.

As for the line if i had to project one that is . from left to right id go
????, hudgel, dylanwhite, eric ball, dyaln white
ross pyles
this all depends if CHance bittenger is healthy or not but after they get the line settled they can mold the team around that.

yeah, i see a LOT of base blocking for at least the early games...the boys have the potential, they just have to realize it themselves and apply it...preparation and dedication this summer will be the true test for these boys and determining factor as to how they will preform this year

Ball, Hudgel, and Pyles will help. White is built for the power game which I think will not happen this year, I see more passing, I like Shears at the QB spot, good kid. The sophs. coming in will help at the skilled positions and they might be faster this year than last in overall team speed. There will be no depth and they will have trouble stopping other teams. I even think Northwest will rack some yards against them. Burg could end up at 7-3 and squeaking in playoffs but they have to give up the soc gold ball this year, of course I've been proved wrong.

Could be true...I see the sophs being a HUGE part of this team, and a tough road ahead, just have to hope that the boys recognize this and prepare that much harder for the season...

The QB spot will be interesting as well. Obviously Shears has some experience, but Arthur and E.Miller could also be options for the coaching staff to consider. OBrien and Hood should lead the way in the skill positions, but Acree, D.Miller and others should also contribute. It will definately be a rebuilding year.
From the outside looking in I couldn't Burg moving Shears from qb unless Woodward leaves. The kid has a good arm, size, and can run woodwards offense very well...he looks and plays like a qb instead of an athlete like Shankweiler. Its usually a tough season when you have to replace a line, and I feel burg will have plenty of growing pains this year, but I couldn't see burg producing anything but a winning season this year or any year for that fact. They can win 3-4 of their non conference and win 3 Soc games...I just don't see them getting past Ironton, West, or Valley (I know its laughable, but I think this is the year)...then again wouldn't be shocked to see 10-0 with the schedule they have

I have not heard of any burg players transferring, I think he's talking about players
from green going to minford?

But I could be wrong, and if so they would have to be young underclassmen
and will not hurt the team this year.
As for the new kids already attending burg, the kid from east a sophomore plays the line both sides.
And the kids from green a junior I think and sophomore or will be? the junior plays LB/FB
and sophomore plays WR/DE.

With this being said burg will be very good team no matter what's been said or saying,
they will surprise as they always do, I think the new kids will make impact on the team wright away.
The burg's O-Line will start 3 or 4 linemen going 300+, others starting going 280-260 -240-230
and the TE's will be strong and quick.
The skilled positions are covered with upper and underclassmen, at WR e miller,d miller, a hall and several
others, and RB b hood, m o'brien to name a couple plus others.
Burg's offense will be balanced, and at QB a shears who has grabbed the attention of D1 school's and others
with his athletic ability and can hurt you with his arm and legs, the offense will be in good hands.
The defense is simple!! strong, speed, size and under rated but will earn respect.
