As for this game, how close it turns out depends on which Gallia Academy team shows up to play. The one that beat Athens in a high scoring shootout or the one that only scored one times vs Licking Heights.

I simply cannot believe that Gallia Academy for the 2013 football season has replaced Ironton and Licking Heights with Rock Hill and Fairland! From a financial standpoint, maybe Licking Heights because they only brought probably around 100 fans, (maybe, not including the band), but Ironton for Rock Hill? ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Ironton should remain on Gallia's schedule even if it's just for the gate. Licking Heights should have been replaced with Point Pleasant.GalliaGrad78 wrote:I simply cannot believe that Gallia Academy for the 2013 football season has replaced Ironton and Licking Heights with Rock Hill and Fairland! Gallia will need to execute on both sides of the ball to beat a well coached team like Ironton. I'll be there to see how we handle things.

I'm not sure that Point Pleasant is a viable opponent now that they are in a conference in Wv. I think maybe that would cause a scheduling problem. But I wish it could happen. Nothing personal against the fine folks at Rock Hill or Fairland.Daniel Larusso wrote:Ironton should remain on Gallia's schedule even if it's just for the gate. Almost seems that the A.D. is preparing for an OVC invite.

How can you say gallia won't score when they rushed for 90 yards in the first half vs licking heights 20 yards if it wasn't for penaltys and a couple big plays they would've won...I see licking heights being a better team than irontonBevo wrote:fuzznuts: you are on to something here i see chilli, logan and warren heading to other leagues as soon as they can set it up,then one of 2 things happen gallia joins the tvc and they go to 3 divisions which is the most likely, taking jackson, vinton co,athens ,gallia and possibly warren in the upperfuzzhead wrote:The SEOAL probably wont exist in 5 years. i hate to see our fans get too high then too low, i was very cautious after the athens win and i think reality has set in.
ga won't score a td against ironton unless it's very late i see this game ironton 35- ga 8 the offense was horrible last week, pass protection was bad play calling very predictable i hate this offense!

Point Pleasant played South Point week one this season. That game could be easily replaced with the Blue Devils. It's really a shame that these two cross river rivals haven't met since 2008. Both AD's need to get together, and get something worked out so they can start playing again in the very near future. It only stands to benefit both parties with a good game and huge gate.GalliaGrad78 wrote:I'm not sure that Point Pleasant is a viable opponent now that they are in a conference in Wv. As far as joining the OVC goes, I personally would rather see an SEOAL/TVC merger. At least that would keep some of the more traditional rivalries intact.
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
A lot of people would prefer a TVC\SEOAL merger but still believe it will be Gallia going to the OVC along with Portsmouth as for Jackson and Logan I don't know where they would go if it happens maybe the TVC really not sure where they could go. I think it will be a good fit for Gallia to join the OVC only if they can get Portsmouth in with them and strengthen the conference overall in football but then again just a thought

I'M PROUD OF HOW THE FIGHTING TIGERS ARE PROTECTING THE FOOTBALL THIS YEAR.

stats are great but they don't measure scores or heart,90 yards is nice in the first half rushing no points because this offense can't score in a prolonged drive it is designed to create big plays in the running game. our small undersized rb's got tired playing a bigger opponent.with all those rushing yards how many did we lose to the pass rush? how many yards did we gain passing? licking knew what to do they took away the pass they ran and passed on the edge of the defense and they wore us out,i watched it happen. this is going to happen all year, don't expect an athens score every week, prob not another week!
we'd have won??? do you realize that to win a football game you must score more points than your opponent? we never even were competitive with licking heights man it was 21-0 at one time, what are you smoking?
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
why would we want to join the ovc? we would be almost twice as big as any school in that league except for fairland,we would get no points for the playoffs in football,i have heard that no one in the ovc wants it have portsmouth in the league,so where do you get your info? i think it's bogusmaniac66 wrote:A lot of people would prefer a TVC\SEOAL merger but still believe it will be Gallia going to the OVC along with Portsmouth as for Jackson and Logan I don't know where they would go if it happens maybe the TVC really not sure where they could go. Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
If the A.D. cared about computer points we wouldn't be playing Vinton County this year, and certainly not Rock Hill next year.
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
For starters i have no idea how people could complain about Gallia academy's schedule this year. When you look at division 3 region 12. gallia academy has the third toughest schedule as far as size teams it plays. Only archbishop Alter and Taft have a tougher schedule if you look at the size schools they play gallia equals 2.7. and even though it is only through 2 weeks. Gallia academys opponents this year being 10-10. only 8 schools in div 3 region 12 have opponents with a better winning percentage.
so there is nothing wrong with the strength of schedule.
I wish we would keep ironton on the schedule. But it is not like this is first time this series has ever went away. The thing is your going to play a team that you are only going to beat once every 7 or 8 years on your schedule. you better play most of your other non conference games against almost sure victories.
As far as next years schedule goes i have no idea what it looks like but i think you would expect a lot of strange matchups to they get it straightened out. Because if i was correct this was not only it for licking heights and ironton on schedule but it was also it for Marietta and chillicothie. Also you have to think next year gallia academy will drop to division 4 in football. even with those 2 games on schedule they will have one of the toughest division 4 schedules in region also i would guess.
And actually if you look at this as a straight up trade ironton for Fairland. Gallia academy is probably increasing their yearly computer points and playoff chances. instead of playing one game out of conference that you would have to consider a win a bonus to going against a team you should beat more then you lose to only improves your chances.
Good luck to both teams if gallia plays their best they come out on top.

Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
Simple reason Gallia is more than likely going to drop to Div 4 and they will be along the lines as the same size as the rest of the OVC and quite a few people believe the SEOAL is in trouble and it maybe or may not be but I heard the ovc is interested in expanding and Gallia and Portsmouth was two targets they was interested in. Maybe it's true maybe isn't.Bevo wrote:why would we want to join the ovc? we would be almost twice as big as any school in that league except for fairland,we would get no points for the playoffs in football,i have heard that no one in the ovc wants it have portsmouth in the league,so where do you get your info? i think it's bogusmaniac66 wrote:A lot of people would prefer a TVC\SEOAL merger but still believe it will be Gallia going to the OVC along with Portsmouth as for Jackson and Logan I don't know where they would go if it happens maybe the TVC really not sure where they could go. BUt I think it would be a good move for Gallia academy if it would happen maybe you don't but coal grove i a good points team and cheasy ussually is. And fairland isn't to bad either. Just think that would be one direction for them to go.
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
Wow really going to pick up points with playing the teams that they dropped Ironton for. WOW what a move, I guess a win out weighs points.

Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
I saw Gallia play week 1 and Ironton week 2, wins for both teams. If both teams play their absolute best game it will be Ironton by 2-3 scores.
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
An earlier post of mine speculated that GAHS may not be tough enough this year. This game will answer that speculation.
Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
i think they are tough enough were not BIG enough! 165lb Linebackers and i think that is generous our DL does not react quickly to plays on the edge, they have decent size but they are kinda slow.pappy1 wrote:An earlier post of mine speculated that GAHS may not be tough enough this year. our RB's just are not big enough to run power football in this offense which i stated earlier i HATE, the passing game develops too slowly and the qb has his back to the defense too long.
i hope we win every game but i don't see it

Re: Week 3 (1-1) Gallia Academy @ (2-0) Ironton
ya'll you cannot measure a man's heart, there are tackling techniques to bring bigger men down. but if a running back runs through a hole low, but with his eyes up. that will pretty much stop that.i hope we continue to protect the ball, quit giving up big runs up the middle. and continue growing as a team, then we could be a hard out, for nearly anybody.i still hope this ain't the last time the fighting tigers and the blue devils lock horns.
