Re: Luehrman twins
Yes..Carbone is the reason the tournament left Athens... OU didn't do themselves any favors with the costs of dorms though.. Carbone was a huge Diva when it came to playing on "his" field.

Barlow you have no clue...
Growing up in Athens, knowing the Carbone family his daughters were great. He however was a piece of work.
I remember playing in the 4th of July Tourny in Zanesville seeing him there to watch Josh Berrea from Sheridan play. Berrea didn't have his best day on the field where he completely dominated the hitters but was one heck of a talent. Carbone watched maybe 2 innings and left. He missed Josh pitch an 9 inning classic where his team nudged ours in the last inning...Josh went ahead and signed with Ohio State...
He is the reason the Legion Tourny is no longer in Athens...period.
I remember one year after Athens had one of the best baseball teams in the History of the school, Carbone didn't even sniff at some of the talent on their team. Brooks Purdy decided to play at Wooster and Kurt Conkey went to Coastal Carolina. Both could have played at Ohio. 3 others including Les Champlin, Shawn Hewitt and Tate Gregory all tried out for Ohio in the Fall. He didn't keep anyone from the tryouts that year. Later that year, Ohio had some of the worst pitching in the MAC and could have used some of those arms HE let go.
The other local boy you mention if I am thinking of the same one wasn't recruited to play Baseball at Ohio. Kent State wanted him for Baseball (Scott Stricklin being the Head Coach) talked several times with Athens Coach Fred Gibson. He was recruited to play football at Ohio. He decided that Football was not HIS best choice so he decided to WALK ON at Ohio for Baseball. I believe it was when Carbone decided to change his position from Infield (they had 1 2nd Baseman) to the 7th Catcher on the roster was when the young boy decided HIS Baseball playing days were over...However I'll let you stand up on your throne and thump your chest over an 18 year old deciding he didn't want to play anymore and that is the soul reason Carbone didn't like local boys...
Just when you think you are out...some moron pulls you right back in!
Good Luck to Adam and Ryan in Football, and if you decide you don't want to play anymore...it is ok!
