I agree 100% it would be sour grapes. I never wanted it from the beginning and still dont want it. would be better for the league if they were not in it.Fortdawg wrote:If you were calling for Athens to leave the league before we started winning, then I'll respect your opinion. "been beaten to death" but YOU bring it up AGAIN SMHRoll_train_roll wrote:93Bulldog wrote:Vinton County is D3 (same as Athens), Meigs D4, RV D5, Wellston D5, Alexander D5 ... only NY is D6 - so the TVC-Ohio is NOT a D6 league.
Logan is a D2 school playing in a D4 and D5 league. Portsmouth D5, Gallia D4, Warren D4, Jackson D3.
if your going to make statements, try and make em accurate.
According to the ohsaa website The cut off for D3 was 280 Athens missed D4 by 17 Vinton County missed it by 10. The difference in size of the schools in the TVC really isn't as large as some make it seem. But that has been beaten to death on here already. Nobody is going to change what they think lol.
AGAIN Athens and VC are NOT comparable!!!!!!!!!!
Look at the mileage traveled by students and socioeconomics, NO COMPARASION
if YOU DON'T GET THAT then I feel sorry for your lack of cranial activity

Athens Co. is the poorest county in the State of Ohio, so not sure about your socioeconomics statement.

Now do that for the Athens City school district. Vinton is a county school. Athens county has 5 schools in it. I really think there is a big difference between say Athens city school district and Fed Hock, NY, Trimble and Athens.. Maybe you didnt realize Athens wasnt a county school. and the socioeconomic difference between athens city school district and the rest of the county.OneHitWonder wrote:Ohio Median household income, 2006-2010 by County (http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/united- ... income#map)BIGHITSINC wrote:Compare Athens City to Vinton CountyPol Pot wrote:Athens Co. is the poorest county in the State of Ohio, so not sure about your socioeconomics statement.

Not all Athens kids come from "the city". Athens city school district involves students of many different backgrounds. Not all the students have moms and dads that work at OU and drive fancy cars and live in big houses in "the city". Even some of the kids that live in "the city" are dirt poor. I am tired of everybody always thinking Athens kids have money and some how that means they should be better than every other football team in SEO.

When the whole "big fish, small pond" and all that crap was argued the first 50 times about Athens going from the SEOAL to the TVC, it was fresh back then. But this is the 500th time this point has been debated, and you're just beating a dead horse.
Athens is in the TVC, deal with it. Athens didn't force all the TVC schools to take them, Athens was voted in by the TVC as a member. Some may consider that an error by the TVC, but it's not Athens' fault. And the TVC had a way to deal with this by taking the last four SEOAL schools and putting them with Athens in a big school division, and they declined again. Evidently, they are happy with the current situation.

my goal with my post and ''pardon the pun'' I don't have a dog in the fight. I want to see every team south of Columbus prospering and advancing in the playoffs. and till things changed financially for our household, we were all over the place going to them. ironton one night, somewhere else the next. so I'm all for southern ohio football. and there will always be difficulty with smaller schools in leagues, because it's so spread out. you will have some leagues where people thing ''big fish little pond''. not being from that area I don't understand the economics there and geographical layout to well.but I hope both squads advance far in the playoffs. I can say if Athens/Jackson becomes a game. and it's not the same night as the fighting tigers, i'll thumb there if I have to. I would have to say Athens would be the favorite because of the stuebenville game. but after seeing Jackson Friday night against my fighting tigers, I think this would be a war. I'd like to see an ironton/Athens series start back up, and with logan as well.joining a league now may make that much harder as opposed to being an independent. which has worked so well for the fighting tigers through the years. but I understand why. football is the money maker, but not the only sport involved.

same thing with ironton, they say we live in the past. well we're getting er done again.we took 2 years of abuse and a coaching change as well, but good gosh look who ironton was losing to Johnson central, ky. if you don't know about them, you may want to inquire.columbus bishop Hartley, Columbus bishop Watterson, Columbus saint Charles.and the enrollment difference is staggering so pardon them for talking about regional titles, league titles, state championship appearances and 2 state titles. the players that have went on to play college ball. that's what drives the kids now.looking in that trophy case all day long in school.my thoughts are --------''YOU AIN'T BRAGGIN, IF YOU'RE GETTIN IT DONE''.
So they have a right to be proud and nothing else would make us prouder than us winning another state title, and seeing anybody else from the south winning one.believe me, in fighting tiger country we see other programs as our brothers. because way too many times we came into the later weeks of the playoffs, or regionals or state championship games and ran into that monster that is ''THE PRIVATE SCHOOL''.but they can be beaten, but it's takes a perfect game, and getting the refs some doughnuts.
anyhoo good luck to both of you from the ironton fighting tigers. '' you can't brag about the trophies until you have em.YTB.

I appreciate your kind words as an Ironmen fan, but last year we did play Athens and the score was 49-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Yes we are better, but so is Athens (they lost no one but maybe a lineman or something like that). There is no bigger Jackson fan than me but facing the Bulldogs for us or anyone in Region 9 (TV being the exception maybe) will be a very tall order. You're Tiger Bait wrote:my goal with my post and ''pardon the pun'' I don't have a dog in the fight. Getting back to the thread, I think NY will face a similarly tall order this Friday.
And, bman you are spot on as ususal, I believe overall it is very apparent that everyone is well satisfied with the situation. Maybe they realize that the wheel will turn and sooner or later there will be parity and competitiveness in the league. I think they might be right...even though the SEOAL would love to have them back lol.

they would totally dominate the seoal right now with Jackson being the only team that had a chance with them, let's call it what it is.athens has developed a killer football program.
