Had River Valley joined the TVC when the school first formed instead of thumbing its nose and joining the SEOAL, the Raiders could have found an identity and developed some rivalries by now.
Hindsight is 20/20 but to their credit, they did at least compete until the opening of south Gallia and they also had Gallia academy and I believe point pleasant just down the road in the same league.

I know this is a football topic - but there are a lot more sports than just football. River Valley will be joining a league that is half D2 and half D3 (Athens, Vinton County and Meigs are D2 schools.)

Seems to me a better route for RV would have been to do what Belpre and Federal Hocking do - be D3 teams and compete in the TVC-Hocking.

It took Belpre a little while to realize this and switched a few years back ... I could see RV taking a similar route. I know the folks in Glouster and Corning are tired of traveling all the way over to Crown City - so perhaps replacing South Gallia with River Valley would make a lot of sense in the TVC.

If we are just talking football ... adding a SEVENTH team is just plain stupid for the TVC-Ohio.

It's already February and Athens still doesn't have a game for week 6, which was created because of the 'bye week' now with an odd number of teams.

The TVC Ohio was in the same situation when it allowed Athens to join.

ASKED Athens to join ...

I think they knew Belpre (wanted to move) - and was on its way to the other side when Athens came in, Dundas.

So now you want to kick South Gallia out of the league?

I disagree. I think the move was made as a result of uneven teams. The TVC probably felt it was best to send a team down rather than bring one up at the time and thus Belpre moved. The Eagles were only struggling in football. They were very competitive in every other sport. With River Valley coming in, we're back to 2008 with 7 teams. The league already asked one team to move up and that didn't happen. So I believe that you will see either, a complete restructuring of the league, or, another team will be added for the Ohio. But to go back to my original point, I think Belpre would still be in the TVC Ohio if Athens wasn't allowed into the league based on votes by the TVC at the time. :)

Athens won't be this good forever. Some folks think that Athens will be playing for regional titles every year or that they will dominate the area in Basketball forever. That's not going to happen. Talent runs in cycles.

I use Logan as an example, everyone in Hocking County was thumping there chests talking about how they were always gonna dominate, and we all know what happened.

with this schedule I could see rv maybe winning 7 games. should be favored in 5 games. 2 games would be a toss up and they would be underdog in 3 games.

I see it as 3-7 to maybe 5-5 with some help. League wins next season may be hard to come by. Good luck.

I think River Valley will do fine in the TVC. They have a lot of talent coming up and will be competitive . They will have natural connections to Meigs, Wellston, and Vinton County. I am a little tired of how some posters have dismissed Wellston.
Wellston defeated NY this year and Meigs has only recently defeated Wellston after a long losing streak. No put down on these guys, just making the point that Wellston is an equal partner in the league. Wellston has a lot of talent in the pipeline. Anyone that takes anyone else for granted stands a good chance of getting beat. I guess that is why the TVC is a great league.

Wellston got their last win over NY for a long time to come, but that's for another thread and another time.
