Trimble wins big in week 11.
Sorry G.W.A but no way Athens beats Trimble by 40.
I do think Athens would win , but it would be a close game . 7-10 point difference max!

Athens certainly has the capability to win by more than 7-10 points with its offense being so explosive. Watching them make a pretty good Meigs team just look silly during a 61-13 rout proved that. I watched the Trimble/Meigs game, and while I think the 'Cats could have won by a little more than 16-0, it was still a hard fought game by both teams. The Marauders on the other hand had absolutely no chance versus Athens, it was like 55-7 a few minutes into the 2nd half.

Athens also went out and racked up 42 points in the first half alone versus Nelsonville-York before sitting the starters when they reached 56. And while Trimble dominated NY, it was still a 13-0 game at the half and 19-0 after the 3rd quarter.

I still tell people (who ask me all the time who I think would win) that if Trimble could keep the ball and use its size advantage up front - then yea, they could beat Athens. Maybe even 5 times out of 10 - but the games would probably be close.
The other 5 games, Athens could win and they could easily win by 2 or 3 touchdowns.

Its not about talent, size, or speed cause both teams are loaded. Its more to do with the scheme and having a QB that can run that scheme efficiently. Stanford may be a better 'football team' and have better 'football players' - but they may get smoked by Oregon Thursday because the Ducks can score in bunches and they can score quickly.

I have watched these two teams, Trimble and Athens, very closely all year ... what I said above is about as honest of an answer as I can give - I think it's pretty accurate.

GO 'CATS
GO 'DOGS
GO 'SOUTHERN

Good posts, all. Bottom line, this thread is about Trimble and Beallsville, but somebody from Athens had to hijack it. That's unfortunate, and I'm not expecting any Athens supporter to defend this person. They can speak for themselves (which they haven't, since I called them out). I'll leave it at that.

Seeing as there are no Beallsville posters, and that the 'Cats should win the game, I wasn't surprised it went off topic.

Hopefully Trimble takes care of business - and next week will be a completely different story I think ... personally, I would love to see an all TVC regional semi-final!!!

I think in all honesty any of the other 6 schools in Region 25 but Beallsville would give the Tomcats a good fight. The Blue Devils are just out-manned with that small roster.

I just saw a poster mauled for saying Trimble is the best team in Athens Co. This is about the playoffs. So let's just say Trimble might have the toughest Regional Final of the Two. lmao
Both teams will suffer a rude awakening, IF they can get beyond the region.
That said, GO CATS!!!

I think Beallsville is in playoffs for 11th time. Believe Blue Devils made the final 4 one of those years (1994 I think?).

The more I think about this one the more I'm convinced Beallsville won't be the pushover everyone thinks.

Remember, the Blue Devils have NEVER lost a game in Athens County.

Wonder which QB coach Kanzigg will utilize? He's got two good ones.

Would you consider the Southern vs. Trimble game a good fight?

They very well may be the last real SE district team standing.

I'm just saying I've seen Beallsville enough to certifiably state it won't be anything close to 49-7.

Has Trimble played any team that throws it more than runs it?

I'm NOT saying the Blue Devils can win but they'll play Trimble tough.

Almost every team they played throws more than they run cause they find out real quick there not running against them. Thats why they have 7 shutouts and the defense has only given up 4 touchdowns all season

Some teams have attempted to pass on them since Trimble has 14 int's. Also have 11 fumble recovery's and between Couch and Altier alone they have 20 sacks.

That' pretty impressive for Trimble' defense. I might've seen their highlights once on TV. Suppose I could find more on that Gridiron Glory webpage.

I'm not even from Beallsville, but hey, someone's gotta balance this topic out a little, LOL. It's been discussed enough so that we know it'll be 7 TD's to 1.

I just hope it's a nice night for football and no players get hurt.

If Trimble does get to meet Shadyside that will be one great game. Hopefully at Marietta.

Good luck to Trimble....not this week... but in the next weeks if you win Saturday.

btw, those Blue Devils cheerleaders are by far the prettiest collection of a cheer squad I've seen all season.
