I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Coach Pendleton as a short timer at Ironton. I would also add that I don't think he took the job knowing absolutely nothing about Ironton's tradition and expectations. He is a well educated individual who played Big Ten football and had a very good career doing so. His experiences at West and Michigan State have given him an inside look at how two winning programs are built on and off the field.

If he can build the Fighting Tigers back into a football power, he just may be there longer than some think, regardless of whatever other jobs including West open up. Sure, the expectations of the Ironton community are high, but he has played for two programs with similar expectations.

I'm an outsider looking in, but I can't help but think this is a great hire for Ironton football. Time will tell, but his personal experiences certainly will have a positive effect on the program given time.

I like and respect Trevon. I do believe that one day soon he will be a great head coach. However I hate this for him. Whoever he has advising him did him a great injustice. Ironton is an absolute mess. This is no place for a first year HC. Ultimately a HC can only be as good as his administration allows. Bad situation here all the way around. I wish he would have stayed at West with Rumors every year of Johnson leaving. Hope I'm wrong. Good Luck young man!

Considering they play in the OVC, they could easily finish 7-3 and make the playoffs. Not sure why you think that is such a humorous statement.
4-6 last year could easily turn into 7-3 with the right coaching staff and attitude.

Congrats to Trevon. I am sure he will make improvements in the next few seasons that Ironton desperately needs.

You rip the burg fan while undermining every team in the OVC, including Coal Grove who just finished a deep playoff run. The OVC has a few teams that can play. I have no idea what they will do but with the coach just being hired, and kids leaving, I would also find it hard to believe they can make the playoffs next year.

He was being an @sshat and I dont care where he is from. Why grown @ss adults think its entertaining to come onto a high school sports forum and downgrade players and a coach that is just getting his feet wet is beyond me. Probably people who never even played sports in high school and beyond to top it off.

And that wasnt a ripping snowflake lol. I asked him what was humorous going from 4-6 to 7-3, especially in the OVC.

If you want to bring up the OVC, they have factually been much less of competition than the SOC II in the past 10 years. That goes for head to head match ups, playoff wins and playoff appearances. Sure they have some teams that can play and have good years. But overall they are weaker than the SOC and thats the facts jack.

Fairland 0-3 vs SOC II
RH was 1-2 vs SOC I and II (Only beat NW)

Id say Trevon has a very good path to make the playoffs this season through playing in the OVC.

He will maintain the status quo with 5-5 or 4-6 seasons biding his time for his trimphant to West as a head coach. By then the Ironton program will be in shambles, the Burg will surpass Ironton in head to head wins, and there will be no power programs in Lawrence County to speak of except the possibility of Coal Grove rising to the top for an extended period of time. Sound crazy? It may be, but then what IF?

Your a fool, for most athletes the season starts the day after their season is over, ask any athlete at any school who takes it serious and wants to be on a winning team. On the other topic all I seen was Ironton posters bitching and moaning about how the team isn't doing this or isn't doing that, now Pendleton is hired and doesn't come in feeling things out but comes in guns blazing and hitting the ground running....and just what happens someone is bitching about them lifting weights. Just what do you guys want another losing season?

I hope he turns the program around makes you look like a fool.
