Athens fan here. The picture of Braeden Halbert hitting Jayden Spires is from 27 days ago. Hardly random. Jayden by the way has transferred 3 times and I have no problem with it. VC to Athens, Athens to VC and then VC to Jackson. He and his family did what was best for him and it has put him in a great position to succeed not only now but at the next level as well. He's a great kid with an awesome family and I hope he has the chance to go 15-0.Vik wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 10:24 pm You just have random pictures of games? That’s a very random one

Re: Transfers:
Interesting and well said. The Spires family is great. Love having them at our games, events and in our community. Kids are excellent kids that thrive in all aspects of school.ShoeHorn wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 9:57 amAthens fan here. The picture of Braeden Halbert hitting Jayden Spires is from 27 days ago. Sweptson has been at Waverly since around 8 years old, other than 1 year (maybe only 1 semester) when he chose to live with his father instead of his mother.Tiger Dad 2021 wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 1:33 pm How many transfers does Waverly have. I know Shoemaker and Swepston.

Re: Transfers:
If by transfer you mean kids who leave high school A to go to high school B, we get little to no incoming ones at Bishop Hartley. Mostly guys from St Chucks who weren't completely ready for the admirable academic rigor they have there. It's just not practical academically because four years of religion are required to graduate. The religion curriculum is national, so move-ins from other Catholic schools don't have to catch up, but public school kids are too far behind. We don't have a special religion catch up summer school at an Olentangy branch campus like a purple school in town may or may not have. Coaches of both major sports (boys football and basketball) are very outspoken against sports motivated transfers.

Re: Transfers:
To accuse coaches of recruiting is ridiculous, with cell phones and cameras everywhere recording everything I can’t imagine a coach texting, calling or even talking to a kid from another team without someone getting it on video or audio recording it.

Re: Transfers:
We have a thread about refs and one about transfers. Who’s gonna start the thread about holding kids back? Might as well go 3 for 3

I just watched him play there and then seen him here, and was told he transferred schools from a good source. I did not know where he started.Kicker. wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 1:53 pmThe Flush wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 1:43 pmSweptson has been at Waverly since around 8 years old, other than 1 year (maybe only 1 semester) when he chose to live with his father instead of his mother.Tiger Dad 2021 wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 1:33 pm How many transfers does Waverly have. Re: Transfers:
Lol if recruiting was allowed would there be a budget? What do you offer a 16 or 17 year old kid to put your team over the top

Re: Transfers:
I dont think any of Waverly was for sports. All but maybe the Shoemaker kids relocated to the district. I do not know them but I know Wolfe and Swepston both have a parent or stepparent that is teacher/administrator in the districtTiger Dad 2021 wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 9:41 pmI just watched him play there and then seen him here, and was told he transferred schools from a good source.
